In this paper, the design considerations of DSTATCOM for voltage sag compensation have been studied. The voltage sag compensation performance with different current injection schemes is briefly explained and the interaction is described. Then, the design of DSTATCOM system and controller for voltage sag compensation is proposed. Simulation results confirmed that the proper design of DSTATCOM system can achieve the good voltage sag compensation performance without interaction with the system.","PeriodicalId":176588,"journal":{"name":"2008 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132215471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The applied method is based on predefined risk criteria, which is evaluated by a probabilistic methodology to ensure adequate and appropriate power supply for long-term demand. Monte Carlo simulation technique is applied to obtain the results which can be used to assist the decision maker in developing a power expansion plan. The proposed method has been tested with a modified Thailand power system including pumped storage units. The results illustrate the impact of demand uncertainty on the number of new generators needed in each studied year.","PeriodicalId":176588,"journal":{"name":"2008 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132217548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three sensors, an engine control unit (ECU) reader, a 3-axis accelerometer, and a camera are used, in which they represent the car, the passenger, and the driverpsilas perspective. Our system combines data from these three sensors with a fuzzy inference system to identify an event of hazardous driving. This ceramic tile have been expected to have no any bumpy surface but can be detected by some special cane to detect the tile on the pathway. By this research, we found the Hall effect sensor is suitable to detect and analyze nondestructively the degree of heavy metal mixed in the ceramic tile. The experimental result indicated that Hall effect sensorpsilas output vary with the proportion of the sludge in the ceramic mixture. When applying a radial-basis function network for analysis and classification, we found that the Hall effect sensor can detect and classify the ceramic tile in 4 groups depending on the proportion of the sludge in the ceramic mixture which imply that we can utilize the ceramic combination in various ways rather being only the common mark on the path for the blind.","PeriodicalId":176588,"journal":{"name":"2008 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134357467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed forecasting system is based on the support vector machine with the input features of past loads and temperature. It is trained with the data from one substation and tested on the blind-test data from other substations. A set of real-world data from 4 substations in Bangkok, i.e., Bangkok Noi, North Bangkok, South Thonburi and Rangsit, is used in the experiments. The results show that the similarities of the daily loadpsilas amplitude ranges and patterns of the training substations and the test substations is required to perform the cross-substation forecasting. This observation is beneficial to the model development in that the retraining stage at a new substation may be omitted if the similarities are obeyed.","PeriodicalId":176588,"journal":{"name":"2008 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131502387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We describe shortly about the inverse Square-Root RLS algorithm which preserves the Hermitian symmetry of the inverse autocorrelation matrix by virtue of the product of square-root matrix and its Hermitian transpose. Such symmetrical property lends the benefit to the parallel implementation. By using the nonlinear algorithm, Gauss-Newton method is presented for the forgetting-factor optimisation with inclusion of RLS-based equalisation in each tone separately. Simulation results reveal that Signal to Noise Ratio and Bit Rate performance of the proposed algorithm can be ameliorated as compared to the existing Adaptive Forgetting-factor RLS algorithm.","PeriodicalId":176588,"journal":{"name":"2008 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132967603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, design of a page-based software distributed shared memory system is proposed for cluster of workstations and it uses migrating-home protocol (MHP) and scope consistency (ScC). In the former migrating home protocols, forwarding request for searching home to recover the page fault results in increasing overheads and broadcast mechanism for migration notices of home also causes network traffic increased. The main contribution of this paper is to combine the forwarding approach with broadcast one in migrating home protocol in order to reduce communication overhead and network traffic in accessing pages. This model is simple but can reduce the network traffic to less than half occurred in broadcast approach and obviously reduce overheads of forwarding approach in software DSM system.","PeriodicalId":176588,"journal":{"name":"2008 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128936919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
