The equipments based on the power electronics have been improved under the name of Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS) in the last years. Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is the most widely used FACTS device to control the power flow and to optimize the system stability in the transmission line. The controller used in the control mechanism has an important effect on the performance of UPFC. According to this, the performance of UPFC for several modes of operations using different control mechanisms based on Proportional-Integral (PI) and PID based controllers has been studied. In this paper a ANFIS based controller has been developed by using ANFIS EDITOR of MATLAB using Takagi-Sugeno inference system. Then it is used in the STATCOM part of the detailed model of UPFC. The MATLAB simulation results are taken to prove the capability of UPFC on power flow control and the effectiveness of controllers on the performance of UPFC in the different operating modes. MATLAB program is used to model UPFC and to verify the performance of UPFC with different controllers.","PeriodicalId":175615,"journal":{"name":"2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131114375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The high processing speed of the TMS320 family allows sophisticated control techniques to be used to build a high-precision control system. The experimental results for the V/f control of 3-hp induction motor drives controlled by a digital signal processor micro 2407 TMS320 chip have verified the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The controller structure design is realized using a dedicated Digital Signal based on voltage/frequency (V/Hz) control scheme Processor, designed specifically for motor that transforms the three phase motor speed into control, the controller structure consists of faster voltage and generating input of sine wave of PWM. Inner sin generation PWM control loops and using these voltage components, the AC induction voltage collection and speed controller loops motor can be handled in the similar way & smooth control is possible.","PeriodicalId":175615,"journal":{"name":"2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126897878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

BBTD algorithm is used for implementation purpose. It uses very few multipliers compared to conventional pipeline based design using Radix-2 Method. Hence this approach gives very good throughput yet highly area efficient design. BBTD algorithm reduces complex multiplier by 33% and twiddle factor by half. Architecture also provides concept of local ROM module, optimized complex multiplier and variable length support from 256-2048 point for FFT/IFFT. Its core size is 3.89 mm^2 with 51.25 μs execution time. Design has been implemented using 0.18 μm CMOS technology standard cell library. The chip size including memories is 3.89 mm^2 with 51.25 μs execution time which satisfies requirement of WI-MAX standard. Total computation is reduced because of less multipliers. This leads to low power architecture. Proposed architecture consumes only 46.57 mW power at 40 MHz which is good for battery operated devices.","PeriodicalId":175615,"journal":{"name":"2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122905551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Segmentation of script is essential for handwritten script recognition. Segmentation affects recognition so accurate segmentation is important for implementing OCR. Little work had been reported towards segmentation of handwritten text. Segmentation of handwritten words is a bit complicated as the shape of the handwritten characters is uncertain due to variability in writing styles. The proposed system carries out segmentation in hierarchical order. The system deploys the morphological operations of image processing for segmentation. Neighbourhood tracing algorithm is used for finding the segmented objects in the specific zones that correspond to constituent symbols of the Devnagari script. Segmentation accuracy is found to be 57% for segmentation of top modifiers and 55% for lower modifiers and 52% for characters in core zone.","PeriodicalId":175615,"journal":{"name":"2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126223627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have proposed a reversible multiplier circuit design in NCT gate library which is based on generating all partial products in one step and then summing their partial products using binary tree network. The proposed reversible multiplier design has two components which are reversible partial product generation circuit and reversible parallel adder circuit. Our design has minimum number of garbage bits, gate count, and quantum cost. We have shown that the HNG, TSG and MKG gates proposed for designing of a component of multiplier circuit (full adder) is neither unique nor special and many such gates may be proposed which can also perform all boolean operations. As an example three such new gates have been presented here.","PeriodicalId":175615,"journal":{"name":"2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology","volume":"89 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126317175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel face detection system is presented in this paper and we propose a new approach using Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model and Hue Saturation and Value (HSV) color model. The algorithm uses fuzzy classifier in conjunction with HSV color model to quickly locate faces in the image. The fuzzy classifier basically examines small windows of an image to detect presence of faces in that window and the HSV color model detects the skin in the image. The algorithm is characterized by its simplicity and inexpensive computational requirements. The method shows that our system has comparable performance in terms of detection rates and false positive rates.","PeriodicalId":175615,"journal":{"name":"2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117338329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However there still hasn’t been a single site developed which will allow the users to watch the entire movie online with all his friends physically scattered but sitting virtually together like in a theatre . Further all the users should be able to watch a particular movie together at the same point of time as in a theatre though he or she is joining the others late. Also there isn’t any facility provided for the users to chat with each other while watching a particular movie and share their opinions. This paper discusses one such project which will enable the users to stream an entire movie online by renting or by purchasing and chat simultaneously with his friends. This can then be used as an application on popular sites like face book and twitter.","PeriodicalId":175615,"journal":{"name":"2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121617937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
