Sensitive industrial loads and Utility distribution networks all suffer from various types of outages and service interruptions which can cost significant financial 1oss per incident. The aim therefore, is to recommend measures that can improve voltage sag. In this paper a method of determining the exact amount of voltage injection required to systematically correct voltage sag with active power injection with the help of energy storage system (ESS) is described. This paper presents the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) with ESS based PI Controller method to compensate balanced voltage sag. Wireless technology can be used in Vehicle-to-Vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure in transport applications. ZigBee is the key protocol for sensor network applications because of the long battery life, low-cost for installation, eases maintenance and small footprint. ZigBee enables mesh networking which supports a wireless communication between many coordinators, routers and receivers in environments where multiple applications are being monitored. The mesh network is ideal and self configured, also automatically self correct and is typically used in the internet by telephone network companies. This device is effective to alter power system parameters in order to increase power transfer capability. Therefore the paper investigates modelling of TCSC and a sensitivity based approach to decide optimal location of TCSC. Optimal location method utilizes the reduction in the total system real power transmission loss (PLK) with respect to the control parameters of device and reduction in the real power flow performance index (PI) with respect to their control parameters. It finds its typical application in the situations where edges are to be preserved for higher level operations like segmentation, object recognition etc. Real-time applications, such as video and high speed acquisition cameras often require fast algorithms for processing. Reconfigurable hardware filters can be embedded with image acquisition system to achieve this goal. In this paper we propose a hardware implementation of a median filter with programmable window sizes ranging from 3x3 to 7x7. This median filter was designed, simulated and synthesized on the Xilinx family of FPGAs (XC3S500E of Spartan-3E). The performance of the same was evaluated for variety of images. For 3x3 window size, the maximum operating frequency achieved was approximately 89 MHz and for 5x5 window sizes, the maximum operating frequency achieved was approximately 89 MHz. The VHDL was used to design the above 2-D median filter using ISE (Xilinx) tool. The proposed hardware implementation took on an average 0.00246 m sec. For a frame of size 4x4 (for window size 3x3), 0.22472 m sec on for a frame of size 16x16 (for window size 5x5) and 0.468 m sec on a average for a frame of size 16x16 (for window size 7x7). In this scheme we have compared our newly proposed model with lossless predictive code (LPC) and differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) and we have shown how our model is more advantageous than LPC and DPCM. This newly proposed scheme for Huffman coding will achieve higher compression as we have reduced the mean value of the pixel in the error image tremendously as compared to LPC and DPCM. A citizen has go through related services to satisfy his particular needs, which takes lot of time. Semantic web (SW) has potential to overcome this problem. SW technology provides foundation to enable exchange of knowledge and information to co-ordinate business processes. It can automatically compose web services through automatic discovery, selection & execution of web services. This research paper is highlighting an introduction to SW & other aspects like Ontology, Knowledge Management, Web Services & their approaches. Also highlights on the egovernance concept, discuses role of SW in egovernance services. Imaging modality to be used in motion tracking also includes thermal imaging (FIR) in addition to the visible imaging. We propose here a motion tracking algorithm using only thermal imaging. The particle filter uses motion based features pre-processed with Wigner distribution. The comparison between the performance measure obtained for thermal and visible imaging is also presented. The results obtained with the proposed system show the robustness of the algorithm. This paper presents an algorithm for detection of traffic sign using color centroid matching. This algorithm detects the traffic sign from the images captured from the complex road environment. YCbCr color space is used for color segmentation to make the detection process independent of variable illumination characteristic. The proposed method extracts and classifies the detected sign according to colors of the traffic sign. The sign is extracted by considering the maximum distance of boundary pixels from centroid. The sign is further classified into its sub-group according to its shape. The minimum Euclidean distance classifier is used to detect the shape of sign. Perceptron Neural Network (NN) is employed to recognize the classified sign. Results show that the developed algorithm has color classification rate of 100% while shape classification rate about 98% when tested on several outdoor images for traffic sign detection.
