Such results are analyzed for a petrochemical industry where majority of loads are induction motors. Three phase fault currents are computed at five buses of 6.6 kV and also at the main distribution bus of 33 kV. In this case study, the fault currents at 6.6 kV buses are estimated due to the contributions from (i) captive generating units alone (ii) motor(s) connected to the faulty bus only (to that of generating units) (iii) all the major motors in the network including those connected to faulty bus (to that of generating units). The results indicate that for this industry, with captive generation, the motor-contribution to fault currents can be as high as 40%. The transformer rating (and its impedance) feeding the motors play an important role in the motor-contributions to fault currents.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117131553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The various advantages such as high torque to current ratio, high power density and higher efficiency of BLDC motor make it possible for using it in cranes, elevator system and many other industries. In this paper the four quadrant operation of BLDC motor worked out to control the elevator system and the, the motor is controlled without the loss of energy; instead regeneration of power is taken in account. The entire simulated system consists of a BLDC motor drive fed with an inverter where the DC bus feeds the drive. FPGA controller is used to provide the control signals to the inverter.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128275564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electroencephalography — EEG — was used for acquisition of brain neural signals thought activity, hence to layout a control strategy for robotic hand and fingers movements. This is done via decoding, in real-time, the neural activity associated with fingers motions. Results are used for training robotics dexterous hands, and might allow people with spinal cord injury, brainstem stroke, and ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) to control a robotic-prosthetic by thinking about movements. The project is novel in a sense, it relies on detecting grasping features for a human grasping using Principle Component Analysis (PAC), hence to learn these features for recognitions applications.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128711345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At high gain, it have large input current ripple which reduce the performance of the circuit. Conventional Boost Converters with Tapped Inductor Ripple Minimization network (TIRMN) is presented in this paper. A comparison of CBC, CBC with TIRMN and Feedback controlled CBC with TIRMN is simulated using MATLAB 2015a. Results shows that the input ripple current is reduced in CBC with TIRMN. A feedback circuit is designed and added to keep the output constant for input voltage fluctuations. Voltage rise by reverse power from PV generations, excessive supply of electricity in the grid due to full generation of the DGs, power fluctuations due to variable nature of Renewable energy sources, and degradation of frequency regulation can be considered as some negative results of mentioned hurdle. For securing such a grid there should add inertia, virtually. The proposed control approach based on an inverter connected in Microgrid, which operated as a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) reacting only in transitory situations. Super capacitor (SC), an energy storage system (ESS) included in MG-forming inverter i.e., a normal inverter structure used for contributing system robustness and reliability. In steady-state load distributed between the MG-supporting inverter are achieved with two restoration controllers for active and reactive powers. The identification of the presence of these characteristics is done using theorems employing transfer function model only. The utility of these theorems is illustrated using the step response of a Real-Time experimental hardware setup. Besides identification, to compare the magnitude of initial undershoot, discussion on a short analysis is done. Furthermore, a practical non-minimum phase system (DC-DC Boost converter) is analyzed for detection of these effects in its step response, as well as comments on the effect of different circuit on the magnitude of initial undershoot of step response are made.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132277632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Single phase ac/dc or dc/ac systems are subjected to harmonic disturbance caused by ripple power with double line frequency. This issue can be eliminated by installing bulky electrolytic capacitors in dc link. But this could result in lower power density and reduction of lifespan. A symmetrical half bridge circuit that utilizes the dc link capacitors for absorbing ripple power is proposed in this paper. Two switches and a small filtering inductor are the additional elements in the circuit. By this method the capacitance can be reduced to one tenth. Simulation of the circuit in MATLAB is presented.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116670420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
