SPQIEP deals with finding the symmetric tridiagonal matrices K ∊ R<sup>n×n</sup> and C ∊ R<sup>n×n</sup> from given m (where 1 ≤ m ≤ 2n) eigenpairs so that the corresponding quadratic matrix pencil P(λ) = λ<sup>2</sup>I + λC + K has the given eigenpairs as its eigenvalues and eigenvectors. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of solution of this problem is established in this paper. Analytical expressions for the solution K and C of the SPQIEP are presented using the vectorization of a matrix. Main attractive feature of our approach is that our approach does not impose any restrictions on how many eigenpairs should be given for the existence of the solution of this problem. Our proposed approach is applied on different numerical examples to illustrate the validity of our proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114646505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For electric fields studies related to high voltage applications, the preferred numerical methods are charge simulation method (CSM) and method of moments (MoM). In the present study, the performance of these two numerical methods are analyzed by simulating sphere-plane gap arrangement (which has an analytical solution to compare). Through this example, CSM is found to be more accurate compared to MoM. Further, the effect of change in sphere-plane gap geometry on the electric field computed is reported and discussed.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"347 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134291263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here a high step up dc-dc converter using a integrated coupled inductor and switched capacitor is proposed. The converter acheives high voltage gain with the help of an inductor which is coupled type and two voltage multiplier cells. When the switch is off the two capacitors are charged using the energy in the inductor which is coupled type, leading to an increase in the voltage gain. Recycling of the energy in the leakage inductance by the passive clamp circuit leads to decrease in the switching stresses.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130162740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this family of inverters only a single power stage works at high frequency at a time. This reduces the switching losses and hence improves efficiency. The operating modes of the inverter are analysed by equivalent circuits of various stages in a half-bridge configuration of the inverter. The Hexarotor has several characteristics (vertical takeoff and landing, hovering capacities) that give more operational advantages over other types of UAVs. But the Hexarotor has highly nonlinear dynamics, coupled and underactuated which makes it impossible to operate without a feedback controller action. In this work, a detailed mathematical model of the Hexrotor has been presented. With the help of Newtons Euler method the nonlinear mathematical model of the hexacopter was formulated; by including rotor dynamics and aerodynamic effects the model was formulated in detail. In order to control the attitude and altitude of the hexarotor in space, two control schemes were proposed i.e, PID and BACK STEPPING Controllers. For evaluating and comparing the performance of both proposed control techniques in the aspect of stability, the effect of possible disturbances and dynamic performances, experiments were done in the Simulink environment.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134563863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the intermittent nature of renewable energy resources creates a number of operational challenges for standalone systems. In this paper, the potential challenges facing the operation of a standalone hybrid system with solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind turbine energy generation and battery energy storage are addressed. Control strategies for the system sources are developed to mitigate the potential challenges. A droop-based voltage and frequency control strategy is proposed for the battery energy storage to balance the mismatch between the renewable generation and the load and to maintain the system stability. An active and reactive power control strategy with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is proposed for the PV and wind sources to maximize the generation when there is a lack of energy resources and to supply quality power from the sources. The proposed control strategies are able to regulate the system voltage and frequency within the acceptable ranges irrespective of variations in the sources and the load-demand.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131847228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is done by introducing two types of DC-DC converters with dual input which are having bridge topologies. Among the two, first is a DC-DC converter with two input and second is the improved version of first. These two converters are capable of handing over power to the load simultaneously, from the input energy sources. A circuit topology to maintain constant output voltage on load side is developed by introducing a feedback loop for the improved converter. The comprehensive study of improved converter is made by conducting software simulation using MATLAB/Simulink platform for the buck, boost and buck — boost (above and below 0.5 duty ratio) modes of operation and required output is obtained. Certain merits of proposed converters are reduced number of components, miniature structure and efficient utilization of energy compared to existing converter topologies.","PeriodicalId":175108,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Power, Signals, Control and Computation (EPSCICON)","volume":"176 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133953679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With LCC-HVDC, the problems of inversion into weak systems are more pronounced in MI-HVDC systems. These difficulties can be overcome by forming a hybrid MI-HVDC system with one link LCC-HVDC and the other as a hybrid link with a thyristor based rectifier and voltage sourced converter based inverter. The hybrid LCC-VSC link needs a thorough study for its application in multi-infeed systems. This paper emphasizes on a comparative study of different controllers of VSC inverter of the hybrid HVDC link in a multi-infeed application.
