Both everyday training regime and participation in competitions itself are for athletes sources of multiple emotionally-difficult circumstances. A competitor who would like to succeed should know how to cope with such problems. For some competitors, stress itself can be a motivating stimulus, although, in practice, it depends on multiple factors. The aim of the study was presentation and description of the approaches used by Wroclaw judo competitors in order to minimize pre-start stress accumulation. \u0000 Material and methods. 54 judo trainees from Wroclaw clubs participated in the experiment. Diagnostic opinion poll was used, based on questionnaires and surveys. The anonymous survey included questions concerning the presence of pre-start stress, approaches to stress minimization, the type of stress and the circumstances under which stress reaches its maximal levels. \u0000Results. In order to minimize the level of pre-start stress, the participants talk mainly with their friends, listen to music, watch TV, play computer games or exercise. Only a small part of competitors use relaxation techniques prior to competitions.\u0000Conclusions. It is necessary to introduce more diverse specialist strategies and stress coping techniques to judo training. The number of patients suffering from joint pain and progressive disability has been growing, especially in the most developed countries. It is also the major cause of pain and deterioration of the patient’s quality of life, being among the 10 diseases worldwide, generating the highest social costs. Pain and disability, often leading to permanent disability entail numerous adverse consequences, not only of physical ones but also of psychological and social nature. The feeling of loneliness, helplessness and uselessness as well as anxiety and depression symptoms significantly affect the patient’s quality of life which should be perceived in multiple aspects in order to achieve the expected success in treatment. The need for holistic approach to frequently long-lasting treatment of a somatic condition, requiring treatment of concomitant mental disorders (anxiety, depression, etc.) is rarely implemented in practice, even if the disorders are properly diagnosed. However, good communication between the patient and the physician is a nonspecific factor in the course of treatment, which affects the patient’s motivation to undergo treatment and full adherence to physician’s recommendation. Music listening is a helpful way for reduction of psychological tension state anxiety, and improvement of mood state in humans, who often experience worries, threats or anticipating stressful events. Few is known about effect of music listening on both biochemical and perceptual responses to high intensity interval training session among females practicing combat sports. The purpose of this study was to verify hypothesis that listening music during training lowers psycho-physiological stress markers. \u0000Material and methods. 16 female boxers took part in two 1-hour high intensive interval training separated 3 day apart. These sessions were of the same structures, loads, intensities. Athletes were assigned into two equal sub-groups and performed sessions with special selected dance music (MS) and without it (non-MS) Capillary blood samples were taken directly before and after training. Plasma cortisol (C), glucose (Glu) and blood lactate (LA) were determined in the samples.10-point scale was used for self-reported Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE). \u0000Results. When the training session was accompanied music, the post-session increments of C and Glu and post-session RPE were significantly lower. The impact of music on LA was not statistically significant.\u0000Conclusions. Therefore, understanding the etiopathogenetic and physio-pathological mechanisms, leading to the development of multiple conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system including bones, tendons, ligaments, facias and cartilaginous tissue, including osteoarthritis which is the topic of the presented paper, enables effective introduction of collagen into treatment. Collagen makes about 30% of the mass of all proteins in the human body, which is about 6% of body mass. The role of collagen in the treatment of osteoarthritis has been sufficiently proved and the availability of new generation therapeutic preparation containing collagen for oral and transdermal administration or through injections has increased. While collagen supplements in a form of pills, ointments or creams are well-known, widely available on pharmaceutical markets and have been successfully administered for many years, using collagen in a form of injections, developed on the basis of a reliable research findings, have not been yet sufficiently widespread among the specialists in orthopedics and rheumatology. Presentation of the results of the latest multidirectional research presented in this paper, confirming the therapeutic efficacy of new generation injective medications containing collagen, will contribute to an increased use of such medications, both due to its analgesic effect and helping patients regain functional fitness, and due to its effect on tissue regeneration at the molecular level.\u0000\u0000

A crucial role of the use of advanced analytical techniques, equipment, as well appropriate collaboration between coaches and scientists has been shown for development of our Department. The hormonal examinations among healthy, young and physically active people are undertaken: for elucidate mechanisms of physical adaptation to maximal efforts, reasons for lack of an adaptation despite a training, and finally for understanding of the influence of strong emotions appearing prior to a competition on a rise of fall of the hormones levels. Studies of the mentioned issues allow to determine biological costs in competitive sport, to establish an optimal training and to determine risk of development of chronic fatigue, which occurs, when the ratio of resting time to effort time is inappropriate. Based on metabolomics analysis in capillary blood we have developed useful utilities for coaches. Our scientific achievements focused on analysis of serum free cortisol and testosterone levels and comparisons of these data with concentrations of the salivary hormones. It was shown, that salivary hormones represent their biologically active fractions in the blood. Moreover, the results of our investigations showed, that exercise-induced changes in body temperature and blood acidification may lead to the increases in the biologically active hormones without their secretions into the blood. The above seems to be most crucial conclusion of our scientific investigations.\u0000\u0000

The participants were divided into two groups according to the type of work performed. The first group included office workers (30 people) and the second one included physical workers (30 persons). The study was carried out using a questionnaire. It was standardized and anonymous and included 23 questions. The study sample comprised the total of 60 surveys. The collected data were next subjected to statistical analysis. Results. It was found that office workers more often experienced pain in the cervical spine while the physical workers more often suffer from lumbar pain. In both groups the level of pain was similar in participants with a similar length of service. The study has found that physical activity does not contribute to back pain alleviation. Conclusions. 1. There are significant differences in back pain symptoms between the studied groups of physical and office workers. 2.
