Developed devices feature simple designs and are made of elastomeric materials where scalable fabrication methods can be applied. Film casting and stencil printing techniques were used to deposit polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), polyurethane (PU) and carbon-based elastomeric materials. The soft triboelectric generator (TENG) with sliding design provides a higher output density of 3.6 μW/cm2 in comparison to 0.05 μW/cm2 for the vertical mode design, at operational frequency of 0.9±0.2 Hz. These soft TENGs demonstrated sensing and energy scavenging capabilities from body movements.","PeriodicalId":174774,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems (TRANSDUCERS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125269264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With only a 30 V gate voltage, the HVTFT controls the kV voltage drop across the DEA, thus providing low-voltage control over the DEA actuation. Both the DEA and the HVTFT are stable up to over 105 cycles. This integrated DEA+HVTFT actuation strategy represents a key building block for smart complex compliant machines, for which multiple independent soft actuators are required. An array of many such building blocks can be driven by a single DC kV power supply, with each DEA individually addressed with low-voltage signal outputs, for example in a row/column architecture. Since the switching logic now operates at low voltage, one can integrate high-level control in multi degree of freedom soft DEA robots.","PeriodicalId":174774,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems (TRANSDUCERS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123247695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, we introduced a flexible supercapacitive sensing modality to all-fabric materials for wearable pressure and force sensing using an elastic ionic-electronic interface. Notably, an electrospun ionic fabric utilizing nanofibrous structures offers an extraordinarily high pressure-to-capacitance sensitivity (114 nF·kPa−1), which is at least 1,000 times higher than any existing capacitive sensors and one order of magnitude higher than the previously reported ionic devices, with a pressure resolution of 2.4 Pa, achieving high levels of noise immunity and signal stability for wearable applications.","PeriodicalId":174774,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems (TRANSDUCERS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123920458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Convenient methods of artificially extracting highly pure phloem sap for quantitative analysis of plant nutrition have yet to be established. We succeeded in aligning the orientation of molecular scale polymer chains in the stimuli-responsive hydrogel microfiber, which enhances the shrinkage of axial direction of the microfiber. The oocytes zona-removal and incubation device can rapidly reduce enzyme contraction after gently removing oocytes shell. Experiment results showed that these two devices not only provide an easier and faster method to sort out motile sperms as well as better preserve the viability of dezona oocytes, but also increase the attachment rate of sperms on oocytes for enhancing fertilization.","PeriodicalId":174774,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems (TRANSDUCERS)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133070156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
