There are some wrangling overvalues, piety, and even the status of a Muslimah dressed in Islamic garb. The material and spiritual realms are fused in a dress symbol, which eventually leads to popular piety in everyday life. By integrating an ethical and aesthetic perspective into the material and spiritual realms, the existence and development of middle-class Muslimah clothing is an expression of an identity centered on the popularity of piety. By utilizing ethnographic methods such as interviews and observations of fashion trends and the Hijaber Mom Community in Indonesia, this article attempts to answer the question of whether fashion models should emphasize self-pity or follow current fashion trends. The article demonstrates how the religious practices of middle-class Muslimah have shifted. According to them, religious piety no longer occurs in a sacred space but rather in a public space. Muslimah dress evolved from ethical-normative to aesthetic-populist, resulting in the formation of popular piety and piety adapted to the development of fashion models.","PeriodicalId":174700,"journal":{"name":"Teosofi: Jurnal Tasawuf dan Pemikiran Islam","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127847107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The spiritual world of Sufism has experienced a paradigm shift in thinking, from what was originally a movement that balances the hereafter and the worldly things, but in the end this movement is also considered very pragmatic-contextual that enters the socio-political dimension. This article wants to provide a new understanding of how the balanced relationship between Sufism and politics occurs in the Mataraman community, Kediri, East Java. By using the non-participant observer technique, this article produces two things: first, the political culture formed in the Kediri Mataraman society has a centralized pattern, where both tarekat congregations and ordinary people devote themselves to any field of social problems to a kiai. Sufi kiai becomes the main role models because they are considered pious people for the Mataraman community. This recognition of the Sufi kiai figure forms a group of socio-political systems. Second, the political pyramid that developed in the people of Kediri City follows a hierarchical-centralized pyramid pattern, where the kiai/murshid tarekat are ordained as the movers and creators of the foremost political culture after the Kediri city government and business bureaucrats. This pattern of social structure becomes the link so that leadership can be achieved and become the material for formulating political strategies.","PeriodicalId":174700,"journal":{"name":"Teosofi: Jurnal Tasawuf dan Pemikiran Islam","volume":"527 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129764765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research discovers tentative evidence that the Muslim political leadership model plays an important part in the dynamics of Muslim society by employing a qualitative literature method with a descriptive-argumentative approach. Normatively, Sunnis and Shiites are similar, yet historically, there are strategic disparities. The notions of wilāyat al-‘ulamā’ in Sunnī and wilāyat al-faqīh in Shī‘ī have the similar content in terms of the politics of knowledge in forming leadership standards, but they have different methodologies for gaining knowledge and abilities. This article confirms that there are no normative issues with Islamic leadership and Islamic politics. Differences in perspectives on Islamic politics exist only in the model of political knowledge and technical state competencies. Furthermore, the constructive achievements of Islamic politics arise only when the leader chooses scientific leadership. In the golden age of medieval Islamic civilization, for example, the politics of knowledge spawned the culture of knowledge. During the period, the political leadership was successful in developing a wide range of information goods and useful tools for the people.","PeriodicalId":174700,"journal":{"name":"Teosofi: Jurnal Tasawuf dan Pemikiran Islam","volume":"597 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122598595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
