For this reason, we propose in this work a reconfigurable monitoring system for automatic control applications. The system is designed to do the process of identification of systems, controlling and monitoring and for the reference tracking and monitoring of parameters whose operation defines the motion dynamics. It should be remarked that the system has a proportional-integral-derivative controller. In addition, it works each process in parallel or just individually since it can be reconfigured from a laptop computer. System validation was performed by tracking the position path of a DC motor.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131853350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reduction or complete substitution of fossil fuels in transportation has led to electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles that have a battery bank that powers electric motors to provide traction. Therefore, battery chargers are required that can be connected to a standard AC power source and provide adequate DC current and voltage to charge the battery. Achieving a high power factor, low harmonic content in the electrical grid, high efficiency, small size and low costs are essential in these applications.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133498401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The power production by marine energy represents a high environmental impact, a strong economic feasibility and unsustainable investment. However, the tidal generation based on MHD generators presents a promising future, because only depends on the wave fluctuations. For which, this paper proposes a MECS structure, consisting by: MHD generator array, AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC power electronics converters, including a robust control to transfer the produced power into an AC infinite bus, without voltage variations. To verify the functionality of the proposed methodology, the Distributed Renewable Energy Access DREA simulation in MATLAB-Simulink® (MATLAB r2018a, MathWorks, Natick, MA, USA) is analyzed. The obtained results show a robust and effective methodology generating a total output power of 290 kW from the MECS into distribution electrical networks.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124952352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Raspberry Pi 4 microcomputer was used for hardware implementation. Some models employed from a subset of artificial intelligence, called Deep Learning, were used for pest detection by fine-tuning Transfer Learning to obtain high accuracy rates based on the PlantVillage dataset containing thirty-eight different classes, including diseased and healthy leaves. The study's main objective is to classify various images of plants and leaves with high precision using CNN Architectures and Transfer Learning implemented on a hardware device. The models were evaluated by means an analysis focused mainly on precision, recall, $F_{1}$ score, and accuracy. The results show meaningful values obtained by the VGG16 architecture, showing 90% sensitivity and 90% accuracy. It is possible to conclude that the VGG16 trained model can be a helpful instrument for farmers to help and defend plants against the aforementioned illnesses.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124974297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Implementing effective and viable overcurrent protection schemes represent a challenge for these systems. The rudimentary process for DC fault interruption consists of opening the ACCB, but the interruption times for this process are unacceptable. Today, there are few DCCB options with interruption times of less than 30 ms however, their studies are limited in transmission lines (or cables), nonpermanent faults and lack of selectivity. A permanent fault located at station output or bus, is not fully protected by a DCCB, since the AC system continues to feed this fault. This paper proposes a protection scheme based on a hybrid DCCB and auxiliary devices. The scheme demonstrates its ability to selectively interrupt station output and bus faults in MTDC systems with fault interruption time of 20 ms. The case studies to evaluate the performance are verified by modifying the Cigré MTDC-MMC grid implemented in PSCAD.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121354055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different government policies have been defined in order to promote the insertion of electric vehicles. With the existing public charging infrastructure is possible to travel to any desire destination in the country, and this type of vehicle are gaining popularity every day. However, there is still something that constrains a quicker change in the existing vehicle fleet, related to the initial cost of electric vehicles when compared to conventional internal combustion cars. For that reason this article analyzes the associated costs to several electric vehicles found in the Costa Rican market, and the costs of similar conventional cars to illustrate the user, which alternative can better suit their needs. The obtained results show that even though the higher initial cost, the electric vehicles are a better alternative in the long term due to a lower total cost of ownership.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115395335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With recent advances in robotics systems, a single robot could perform complex autonomous object finding tasks, nevertheless, using a team of heterogeneous robots this task can be sped up by combining the individual capabilities of the robots. In this work, a strategy to search an object and reach its location is presented. The proposed strategy is based on the exploration of an unknown environment through the collaboration of an unmanned air vehicle (UAV) and a ground vehicle. To evaluate the proposed strategy, a virtual structured environment was built in which there is a UAV, equipped with a monocular camera pointing downwards, and a differential drive robot equipped with a depth sensor.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127040591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
