Following first principles, the power transformers are modeled based on dual-active bridge (DAB) converters considering voltage and power controls. Results obtained from the developed power flow tool are validated against those furnished by the Simscape Electrical package of Simulink, demonstrating its suitable accuracy. The practicality of this novel formulation, to be used in the analysis of general DC distribution grids incorporating several series-connected DAB-based DC/DC transformers, is also demonstrated in this paper.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124179632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the application of a single VV, either an active VV (AVV) or a zero VV (ZVV) during the whole control cycle results in a grid current with relatively high ripple. Furthermore, for proper implementation, very fast signal processing is required, which increases cost. Therefore, to overcome these drawbacks, a Modulated MPC (M2PC) scheme that uses two VVs in each control cycle is introduced. The improved control scheme predicts the current slopes of the all available VVs, then the algorithm calculates the optimal duty-cycle of the AVVs. After that, the selection of the appropriate AVV is carried out by evaluating and minimizing the cost function as performed in the conventional MPC. Simulated results of the developed M2PC algorithm show a better performance and lower THD than those obtained with the conventional MPC for SP-2L-SAPFs.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129028278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, they can present malfunctions due to different types of faults. The short-circuited turns (SCTs) are one of the main causes of transformer damages, which can scale into most serious faults. In this regard, there are several works in literature to diagnose this type of fault through the analysis of vibration signals. In this work, the vibration signals are analyzed to diagnose the transformer condition; however, the analysis of a vibration signal with no relevant information and a high level of noise is not a simple task. In this work, the problem is addressed using the MUSIC-empirical wavelet transform (MEWT). This technique allows extracting the relevant features from vibration signals. Additionally, three fractal dimension algorithms (FDAs): Katz, Sevcik, and Petrosian, are proposed and investigated as potential fault indicators. To test the proposed methodology, a modified transformer to emulate different SCTs fault conditions is used. These conditions are healthy, 5, 10, and 15 SCTs. The results show that MEWT removes properly noise and irrelevant information, allowing the identification of the fault condition using the FDAs as indicators.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115461843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, this article aims to explain the development of a greenhouse variable measurement system, whose magnitudes will be recorded in a database to later be accessed from a device connected to the internet, with the possibility of reconfiguring it in order to measure other variables, and/or adapt it to other sensors and/or applications. A methodology for the use of a FPGA based data acquisition and processing card, in addition to a Raspberry-Pi IoT system are described, with which communication will be established with the following measurement sensors: TMP006 (infrared, IR, temperature), TSL230 (solar radiation), SHT75 (air temperature and relative humidity), and FC-28 (soil humidity). This system will not only allow real-time in situ acquisition and processing, but also will store the information gathered in a database located on local and external servers using open-source code. The system includes both IoT and in situ interfaces. Communication protocols are used to measure the variables. Statistical tests were performed for the monitored data, verifying its accuracy. The sensors' performance reached correlations over $r=0.9$ in most of the cases. Lower correlations and significant measurement errors depend specifically on the selected sensor.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123163874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main limitation in previous works has mainly been that data have been obtained from specific points of homogeneous regions or mean of regions. A particular characteristic of native bean populations is that they comprise not only seeds of different colors but also of heterogeneous colors. We propose a computer vision system based on the use of histograms to represent the color properties from joint probability distributions of acquired color spaces that come from digital images in RGB and CIE 1976 L*a*b*. We used 54 common bean landraces collected in different regions of the State of Oaxaca, Mexico. The classification accuracy of K-NN algorithm was 68.24%, 44.44%, and 53.80% with the spectrophotometer measures, RGB averages, and CIE 1976 L*a*b* averages respectively, while this same classifier achieved an average of 80% with histograms. Our results suggest that the two components regarding the chromaticity in CIE 1976 L*a*b* are enough to achieve the highest classification accuracy. Our proposal is not exclusive to classifying bean landraces; it might be used for fruit or vegetable color assessment.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128307690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article we propose a novel intelligent monitoring system to detect faults in a greenhouse that mimics a human operator to a certain extent, using a method based on deep learning and artificial vision. We design our algorithm for four novel fault detection architectures: Micro Output Manifold Fault Detection (MOMFD), Output Manifold Fault Detection (OMFD), Attention Fault Long Short Term Memory (AFLSTM) and Fault Long Short Term Memory (FLSTM). Then, we compare them with the well known Long Short Term Memory (LSTM). Results obtained from simulations of the greenhouse show that MOMFD presents the shortest inference time about 1 second and the highest accuracy for training and validation 93.9 and 95.56 percent, respectively.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124678664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite this, the electrical systems must have the ability to remain reliably and safely during all possible operating conditions. This fact requires advanced protection systems that must open circuit breakers in the case of a fault, in addition to having a quick repair strategy. In a such sense, many methods have been developed to locate and detect faults in transmission and distribution systems. The methods can be divided into several categories, techniques that use impedance, methods that make use of transient signals, techniques based on artificial intelligence, among other approaches. This work reviews most of the techniques that have been developed and that are commonly used to locate and detect faults in transmission systems. Therefore, from this review, opportunities in the area of investigation of fault location in the power transmission and distribution system can be further explored.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115068374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first stage reproduces the wind speed-torque conditions utilizing a control system (test platform) for induction motors developed by the Energy Research Group (GIE) of the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana. In the second stage, through Matlab, the mathematical model of a 5 HP induction motor was developed for analysis as a generator, presenting the analysis of results in a graphical interface. Together, the emulator aims to find the structural design of the wind turbine to bed coupled to the induction machine and obtain the maximum performance that it can deliver, depending on the characteristics of the wind. A comparison was made of the mechanical torque acquired from the emulator managed by DSP ++ and the wind simulator in Matlab, arriving at a comparison of frequency vs. torque, wind speed vs. torque, and a final comparison of wind speed vs. frequency. The operation of the emulator and the proposed method to verify the behavior of the induction machine as a motor or generator are validated.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129988375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These techniques have been applied mostly to improve the performance of the recognition accuracy or recognition rate and less for addressing variations in illumination, face spoofing, information security, privacy, face occlusion, computational time, classification performance, small sample size, and recognition with low-resolution images, pose variations, and expression changes. iii) Other several techniques, including Viola-Jones, hidden Markov model, and Gaussian mixture model, have been less used to deal with the aforementioned problems (except recognition with low-resolution images, pose variations, and expression changes) and recognition with retouched or rotated images. iv) New challenges in the face recognition-based control systems appeared due to the occlusion of the faces with masks by COVID-19. The PFC-DIBC is coupled to the electrical grid by a rectification stage, formed by a full-bridge diode rectifier, then a high gain DC-DC DIBC stage feeds the DC load with a fixed voltage level. The main advantage of this configuration is the presence of the DC-DC DIBC which is capable to provide a high conversion ratio for the output voltage. The proposed controller is based on the average model of the system and consists of two main control loops: a current tracking loop and a voltage regulation loop. The first is aimed to force the line current to track a sinusoidal current reference proportional to the grid voltage and the second objective is aimed to regulate the output voltage to a desired reference. Finally, to assess the performance of the proposed controller numerical simulations of the system using PSCAD software are presented.","PeriodicalId":174166,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114359421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
