Currently, there is more research at the elementary classroom, followed by middle school, high school and college level. There is also some research about workstations in the job place. However, there is still debate on whether or not language arts workstations are helpful or not in language classes (Hampton et. al, 2015; Reese, 2011). This work supports the first theory and provides a guide of how to create Spanish language arts workstations. The workstations included use the four modes of language: listening, speaking, reading and writing as recommended by Carreira (2012). The results support a correlation between workstations and high academic success rate and high attendance rate among other results.","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"2009 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127329657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific research question was: What is the relationship between the concept of praxis, as taught throughout the CYC undergraduate program at MacEwan University, and levels of selfconfidence self-reported by CYC student practitioners in the field? An exploratory qualitative research design located within the interpretive paradigm provided the theoretical and methodological framework for the research project. Data was collected using an innovative arts-based method, and a thematic analysis revealed three main themes: (a) authenticity, (b) intentionality, and (c) importance of knowledge. The result of this course-based research project suggest that learning about praxis in the classroom has a significant impact on CYC student’s level of self-confidence in the field of practice.","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131220761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, we utilized narrative inquiry research design with feminism and gender role incongruity theories as theoretical frameworks to investigate five women’s experiences becoming leaders of major technology organizations. We collected data from interviews and documents. Data analysis revealed four major themes: climb your ladder, know your worth, discover your career, and nurture your vision. The findings suggested that the primary barriers for women entering and staying in the technology field were removed by intrinsic motivation augmented by personal persistence, passion for learning, creativity, and efficiency. The female technology leaders in this study shared valuable, diverse leadership perspectives that may benefit male technology leaders. All participants exhibited an ability to nurture team members and organization goals using soft skills to ameliorate the rigid and fast-paced technology industry.","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114462158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Whereas there are countless studies focused on mentoring relationships as related to college students, two common challenges exist. The first is a universally understood and accepted definition of what mentorship and mentoring experience are (Crisp & Cruz, 2009). The second is, how students make sense of their mentoring experiences (Brooms & Davis, 2017; Kegan, 1994).For Black male students, this need is especially concerning. Black male students stop out of higher education institutions at rates higher than their peers in both the 4-year and 2-year college sector. According to data from the National Center for Education Statistics Table 326.20 (2016), the graduation rates for the 2012 cohort of male students of color at public 2-year institutions, was 11.4% for Black males, 17.6% for Latino males, 21.5% for Pacific-Islander males. These rates are drastically lower when compared to the graduation rates of White male students, which was 25% (NCES, 2016).","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130816235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To approach it, the concept of gender is used. By analyzing observations carried out on dance classes of PIBID project, as developed by Universidade Estadual do Rio Grande do Sul (RS, Brazil), reflections approach the scenes in which gender relations are constituted, and implied on thinking and creating dance. Results show that there are hierarchies between male and female students in the context of dance classes, as well as gendered ways of organizing dance practices, although some changes in the way teachers intervene have already started.","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133184716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A sample of 174 was selected, through a stratified probability sampling technique. A total of 127 questionnaires were returned representing a response rate of 73%. A factor analysis produced two factors: Personal Interest in the Subject (PIS) and Job Prospects (JPF).PIS has a major impact than JPF. The one-way ANOVA determined that PIS has a significant influence on the choice of accounting and HRM and not for marketing major while JPF did not have an impact on the selection of any three business majors. The results suggest a need for review of promotion of business majors in order to achieve wellbalanced supply of students for the different business industry’s skills needs.","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131074028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is especially true for police work. This paper gives an overview of relevant theoretical approaches and research on management and leadership. The importance of training of police managers in management and leadership is discussed in the light of recent insights into this area. Modern education and training standards are based on the European Qualifications Framework. Through learning outcomes, these standards ensure competencies required for performing the work of police managers. Through its recommendations and other documents, as well as through the work of agencies in charge of police training the EU provides support for development of its member states and in achieving common high standards. This paper examines possibilities provided by the EU in that regard and the manner of deliberation about the direction this development needs to take.","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126479288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The book focuses on balancing quality, rigor, breadth of appeal, and open access. The book was written to act as an introduction to and an overview of the recent state of research. The different sections and chapters found in the book were peer-reviewed by various members who are committed in these fields and also printed with the support and commendation of the International Society for Educational Data Mining and the Society for Learning Analytics Research. This book is an excellent resource because it incorporates different editors and writers who are prominent practitioners and researchers of educational data mining and learning analytics to deliberate on some of the most important questions which are regularly not adequately understood by people who do not qualify as experts in the field of learning analytics.","PeriodicalId":170810,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Education & Social Policy","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132983312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
