This data need to be analyzed and retrieved as a part of their daily business. Data extractor that depends on entity recognition to extract data from documents and converts it into structured database can solve the problem of searching in unstructured data. In addition, semantic search engines that use query expansion to extract results that are more informative can solve the problem of polysemy and synonymy. This paper proposes a complete solution to solve these problems. An Arabic semantic search engine is proposed which consists of four components (data extractor, taxonomy builder, database indexer, and search engine). The system is applied on a real case study of a large governmental organization's database. The results show superior performance compared to other solutions. It gives good measures for the F-score and gives a mean average precision of 0.8.","PeriodicalId":170532,"journal":{"name":"2017 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES)","volume":"265 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122702184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper aims to explore two new techniques for evolving playing strategies relative to that of Axelrod. The three techniques have been tested by a very challenging game: Rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock. The proposed techniques evolve a probabilistic choice. In the first proposed technique the history is completely disregarded. The chromosome size is shortened by 99% relative to Axelrod's. The second proposed technique is a compromise between Axelrod's and the later probabilistic technique. Still the chromosome size is shortened by more than 95%. Results show that the hybrid strategy was the only one that could win all other strategies, the probabilistic technique comes next. Finally, processing requirements considering memory consumption and cpu utilization time are investigated.","PeriodicalId":170532,"journal":{"name":"2017 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123281962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective is to develop a tool that uses image classification techniques to create and manage photo albums based on event recognition. It exploits Deep Convolutional Neural Networks to extract features from photos taken by multiple users. These features are then reduced and used to assess the similarities between the different photos. The similarities are used to group relevant photos using unsuper-vised clustering techniques. This provides a richer and a multi-perspective view of the events where those photos were taken. The system is tested and evaluated on a publicly available dataset. Its functionality is demonstrated in a simple web application where multiple users can use to upload photo collections and have them integrated with other users' photos to generate intelligent albums. The proposed methods proved effective as they achieved an accuracy of up to 98%.","PeriodicalId":170532,"journal":{"name":"2017 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130213085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, images acquired through LDCT are known to be of low-quality due to the presence of statistical noise and other related artifacts. Effective denoising techniques are required to improve the quality of LDCT images towards green and safe CT imaging. In this paper, a new method is presented to improve the so-called, non-local means (NLM) filtering for effective LDCT imaging. The proposed method incorporates a prior knowledge obtained from probabilistic atlas during the filtering process. Additional anatomical information obtained through the atlas is likely to be useful in improving the image quality using NLM filtering. The proposed method is evaluated using real data and a notable improvement in image quality improvement is achieved.","PeriodicalId":170532,"journal":{"name":"2017 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133528945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the adopted control algorithm, the SOSMC, which is published recently in the literature for linear systems, is extended to nonlinear systems and combined with an adaptive PID sliding surface. The PID sliding surface parameters are adapted online using an adaptation algorithm. The proposed control algorithm (APID-SOSMC) is derived based on Lyapunov stability criterion such that the stability of the overall system is guaranteed. Numerical simulations with dynamical model of the nonlinear inverted pendulum system are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed controller and proof the system robustness against parameters uncertainty and external load disturbances.","PeriodicalId":170532,"journal":{"name":"2017 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130517679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wi-Fi fingerprinting techniques are often used in positioning systems resulting in proposing many algorithms for these systems. K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), support vector machines (SVM), neural networks (NN), Naive Bayes Classifier (NBC) and other hybrid algorithms are the most commonly used techniques for Wi-Fi fingerprinting. In the present paper, we propose a Wi-Fi fingerprinting indoor positioning system which utilizes the single multiplicative neuron (SMN) as a fingerprinting technique to improve the positioning accuracy and speed. Neural networks based on single multiplicative neuron are simple in their structure and fast in the learning process, which make them suitable for real-time applications. We use the principal component analysis algorithm (PCA) in both the offline and the online phases to reduce the dimension of the received signal strength values and to remove the noisy measurements. Comparisons have been held with three well-known fingerprinting techniques: KNN, SVM and NN. The results, in terms of accuracy and responsiveness, demonstrate the superiority of the proposed positioning system based on SMN and PCA algorithm.","PeriodicalId":170532,"journal":{"name":"2017 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127674677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of these challenges is to improve the efficiency of operations and to achieve better customer experience through minimizing the business impact of service interruption and proactively handle it. In this paper, trouble ticket repeat prediction framework is proposed to integrate the enormous data of operations that consist of the voice of the customer (VOC) and the voice of machine (VOM). The VOC is represented by customer trouble tickets collected by the customer relationship management system (CRM) and VOM is represented by the modems' event log that is loaded daily into our platform. Finally, the results from deploying the proposed framework in one of the biggest Telecom Operator in the middle east are presented. This algorithm is highly optimized for similarity searches. However, the significance increase in the size of genomic databases causes performance degradation in the search algorithm. Thus, there is an increasing need to accelerate this algorithm. This paper introduces a new hardware approach to accelerate BLASTN using high level synthesis. Our approach takes advantage of the high level synthesis capabilities in designing complex systems by simply writing the algorithm functionalities in high level language. Experimental results show a speedup up to 100x over software. Moreover, we proved the feasibility of our proposed HLS implementation through a comparison with similar algorithms. Our HLS BLASTN achieves an average speedup of 70x over the NCBI BLASTN implementation and a speedup of 11x over the Mercury BLASTN implementation. We conclude that high level synthesis is an appealing approach to accelerate the BLASTN algorithm to satisfy the high performance need of biological searches.","PeriodicalId":170532,"journal":{"name":"2017 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126306239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
