Focusing on price strategies, recent theoretical papers conclude that private label development should cause a decrease in the price of national brands, while some empirical studies do not support this prediction. The aim of this study is to explore this empirical relationship for the Italian dairy sector. Using retail sales data, we study how prices of national brands react to private label growth. We find that the impact of private label development on national brand prices is product specific: a negative impact is registered by industrial products such as butter and mascarpone and by highly differentiated products such as yogurt. Positive effect is found in the case of traditional cheeses produced by strong national brands","PeriodicalId":170092,"journal":{"name":"Revue d’études en Agriculture et Environnement","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121536930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use the bonding/linking/bridging classification suggested in the social capital literature (Putnam, 2000; Woolcock, 1998). Bonding links consist of strong linkages between similar people, which ensure the stability of relationships, but tend to lead to inertia and closure. Bridging links are weak ties that often lead to valuable new opportunities. Linking social capital is an intermediate category that consists of links between people from different social categories. This form of social capital favors both stability and openness. We use French data to examine these three forms of social capital within a local population and employment growth model inspired by Boarnet (1994), and to evaluate their impacts on local economic growth. The results suggest that all three forms of social capital have a robust and positive role on change in rural population and employment.","PeriodicalId":170092,"journal":{"name":"Revue d’études en Agriculture et Environnement","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126222447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this purpose, an agricultural sector model is expanded to cover greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural sources in Europe and policy instruments for their reduction. This modelling approach concentrates on the application of a permit trade scheme for emission abatement within the Kyoto Protocol ‘first commitment’ baseline. The effects derived of three alternative schemes are described in detail: the EU ‘burden sharing’ agreement option defined as regional emission standards, emission trading between regions inside each Member State, and finally, emission trading between all European regions. The analysis shows the importance of selecting an adequate combination of instruments of emission abatement for the design of efficient emission reduction policies","PeriodicalId":170092,"journal":{"name":"Revue d’études en Agriculture et Environnement","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131781954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dans ces deux familles, tous s’accordent a penser que le baccalaureat est aujourd’hui un diplome indispensable. Pourtant, les choix d’orientation scolaire font l’objet de negociations entre les membres de la famille, en fonction du sens que chacun accorde, selon sa trajectoire, au titre scolaire, au contenu de la formation et a sa valeur symbolique. La perception de l’apprentissage du metier d’agriculteur varie en fonction de leur rapport au savoir et de leur definition de la profession. De plus, en tant que titre et en tant que formation, le diplome agricole peut etre une ressource mobilisable dans les rapports professionnels entre agriculteurs, leur assignant une certaine position sociale et hierarchique.","PeriodicalId":170092,"journal":{"name":"Revue d’études en Agriculture et Environnement","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130773376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose to use an ambient tax/subsidy instrument to induce farmers to adopt better practices. The advantage of this type of instrument is that it allows the regulator to introduce the correct incentives without needing the observation of the agents’ individual efforts, but only of the collective result of efforts. Our first objective is to test the efficiency of the instrument in the specific context of muddy floods. Our second objective is to investigate the acceptability of this scheme. We run our experiment with six real farmers and carry out a socio-economic debriefing after the experiment. We observe that the instrument is relatively efficient at least in the first part of the experiment. However, the debriefing reveals subjects’ scepticism about the usefulness of the experimentation for investigating their real behaviour and that they are against this type of instrument.","PeriodicalId":170092,"journal":{"name":"Revue d’études en Agriculture et Environnement","volume":"698 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126215314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These conclusions are shown to hold whether or not non-farm incomes are taken into account and for a range of alternative definitions of the agricultural community. The results for Scotland are broadly comparable except that the distribution of transfers was progressive not regressive, reflecting differences between the two regions in the degree of dependency of agriculture on support.","PeriodicalId":170092,"journal":{"name":"Revue d’études en Agriculture et Environnement","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114790732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parallelement, elle examine comment les femmes s’installent dans une profession qualifiee, au moment ou celle-ci est contrainte de (re)legitimer son role social. La profession veterinaire est confrontee a deux changements concomitants : les femmes arrivent en nombre, en meme temps que les specialisations se recomposent, les animaux d’elevage perdant du terrain au profit des animaux de compagnie. Or, les relations entre ces deux phenomenes ne sont pas de cause a effet. Le processus de feminisation en cours pourrait meme paraitre comme atypique, la specialite connotee comme la plus masculine se trouvant supplantee par le secteur en expansion des animaux de compagnie, dans lequel s’investissent les femmes. Cette hypothese est toutefois a relativiser car la reconnaissance et la legitimite dont beneficie la specialisation « animaux de compagnie » reste fragile.","PeriodicalId":170092,"journal":{"name":"Revue d’études en Agriculture et Environnement","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123035733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
