The Covid-19 pandemic also provided the space for a new genre, “covid fiction”, to emerge. This article examines the sub-genre of “covid poetry” by integrating text and reader response data analysis to examine the representation of the pandemic experience in Michele Witthaus’ poem “The new shape of fear”. Analysis of the data reveals that participants interpret and discuss the poem by drawing on foregrounded language features in the text, reflecting on their own pandemic experiences and demonstrating empathy with the experiences of others. These findings demonstrate that covid poetry may have particular interpretative effects that are geared towards self- and other-understanding. It asked how storytelling can help us to come to terms with the collective trauma we have experienced by developing empathy and enlarging identity, and considered the role of digital technology in creating safe spaces for connection and reflection. The research aimed to provide a nuanced and in-depth account of the experience of shared reading for wellbeing, and to make practical recommendations for the future of such initiatives in community settings. The aim was to explore how UMs use poetic writing and other creative activities to handle resettlement challenges. Seven young men and six young women, aged 18–24, participated in semi-structured interviews. The material was analyzed using the three components of poetry therapy, developed by Mazza. Three themes were identified: (1) Encouragement; (2) Creative expressions as a “safe place”; and (3) A sense of recognition. Through creative expressions, our participants could understand and handle the emotional difficulties and the insecurity associated with resettlement. Poetic writing was a way to convey personal experiences of injustices, a source of self-understanding, and a way to establish new social networks. Children’s literature has the potential to spark conversations that enhance understanding of race, antiracism, and advocacy. Indeed, recently there has been a marked increase in the number of antiracist children’s books that address these issues directly. To that end, we offer book recommendations about race, representation, Black history and culture, antiracism, and activism and advocacy. Further, through a case vignette, counselors who work with children will gain foundational knowledge in applying culturally-affirmative bibliotherapy. Trauma narratives are included in trauma treatment best practices, however, there are conflicting perspectives about the trauma narrative process. The Storiez intervention divides the trauma narrative process into nine steps that collectively focus on youth reflection, organization of memories, creative expression, and development of future vision. Master’s level therapists (n = 15) received Storiez training and materials. Six to eight weeks after training, 12 therapists participated in qualitative interviews. Interviews were analyzed using grounded theory. Three themes emerged: (1) It gives them a voice the way they want the voice, (2) It doesn’t require a lot of fancy gadgets and gizmos, and (3) Trauma doesn’t define them. Participant responses about the intervention’s portability, inclusion of strengths, simplicity, and cultural competence highlighted a paucity in the literature. In this piece of literary criticism, I will look at some of Jori Graham's poetry to explore how poetic transformation of the facts about the climate crisis could contribute to our awakening to what is at stake and how her work could facilitate conversation between us about the psychological impacts that we experience. Four international students studying in a university in London participated in five interactive bibliotherapy sessions. Each participant underwent an interview after the sessions, and the contents were transcribed and analysed through a thematic analysis. A total of 4 main themes and 11 subthemes were extracted. It was shown that international students, who were having difficulty in accessing psychological aid, joined the interactive bibliotherapy sessions with relative ease. Sessions provided them a space where they could lay aside their normal routine, and freely express themselves. It was also a space whereby participants were able to become aware of their stress, and had the opportunity to do some retrospection on their selves, all the while gaining flexibility. During the developmental and transition phase of growing up, young students can face a lot of issues and problems related to the self and their surroundings. The participants of this research were post-graduate management students who suffered from a lack of self-management skills. A reading course/intervention based on Shrodes (1950) model of bibliotherapy was developed. Using developmental and didactic bibliotherapy based on CBT a short reading course was conducted with 138 students. Reflective writing and discussion activities were conducted along with group reading. The impact of the reading course/intervention was analyzed using descriptive research methods (paired sample t-test) and qualitative reading of the reflective writing.
