The promising Photoperiod and Thermo-sensitive Genic Male Sterile (PTGMS) lines A001S and G001S were developed by crossing, continuously inbred for six generations,and the selection depended onduration and tillering ability. F2 populations were segregated and fitted well to the ratio of 15:1 for pollen grains fertility trait, indicating the presence of digenic inheritance and epistatic dominant duplicate gene action control. The PTGMS line G001S had the most desirable characteristics for the hybrid rice breeders, with values of 19cm panicle length,13 primary branches panicle, 8.5mm grain length, 2.9mm grain width, 1.9mm grain thicknessand 25g for 1000-grain weight. Both A001S and G001S were superiors of most studied traits to be good PTGMS lines for two-line hybrid seed production systems. Both linesexhibited a high rate of panicle exertion with values of 90.70 % and 94.30 % for A001S and G001S, respectively. The two lines were completely male sterile when sowing from 1 to 20 April. Still, their fertility alternated from completely sterile to partially fertile in late July when the temperature decreased and the day length was long. A001S x GSR1 and G001S x GSR9 new hybrid combinations were derived from the newlydeveloped PTGMS lines; A001S and G001S, with short duration, semi-dwarf and high tillering ability with a high yield potential of 80gplant. For the panicle and grain traits, both hybrids exhibited good characteristics.Both hybrids showed favorable positive significant, and highly significant standard heterosis.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88572550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An experiment arranged on a randomized complete block design with three replications was performed in normal irrigation and drought stress conditions. Variance analysis indicated highly significant differences among the genotypes in all traits. Also, there is considerable variability among genotypes in all traits. The presence of genetic diversity among genotypes was recorded in our study. Percent decrease due to drought stress was a positive value for all traits, except chlorophyll content. Broad sense heritability values were very high under normal irrigation for days to heading, days to anthesis, days to maturity and grain yield per faddan. In both conditions, spike per m had direct positive effects with 0.487 and 0.363 while days to heading showed more negative effects with (-0.408) and (-0.562) respectively. The cluster analysis divided the genotypes into five groups under different (normal or stress) conditions, genetic divergence has been found related to several genetic and non-genetic conditions like the extent of genotype x environment interaction and components of genetic variation. Accordingly, results give a good chance to achieve genotypic improvement of wheat through the hybridization among genotypes taken from different clusters .where, genotypes 14, 2, 11, 23, 17 and 20 had high yielding and divergent under water shortage stress conditions for yield improvement in bread wheat","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75547844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Newly harvested certified seeds in 2018 and 2019 seasons of three rice cultivars namely, Sakha 101 as japonica cultivars, Giza 178 as indica/ japonica cultivars, and Egyptian Yasmin as indica cultivars were provided by Rice Research Program, Agriculture Research Center, Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt. A split- split plot design with three replicates was used. The most noteworthy qualities for hulling % and milling % by keeping Sakha 101 for 3 months in jute bags in both seasons. Furthermore, data revealed that keeping Egyptian Yasmin for year in polyethylene bags showed predominance values for broken %, amylose content % and protein content % in both study seasons. Most elevated values for elongation % and water uptake were realized by keeping Egyptian Yasmin for year in jute bags in both seasons. Most elevated values for gel consistency were recorded by keeping Sakha 101 for year in jute bags while; the most noteworthy values for spreading and clearing were realized by keeping Sakha 101 for 3 months in polyethylene bags in both seasons.
