Eleven yellow hybrids beside two checks were evaluated in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications at five locations in Egypt i.e. Sakha, Gemmeiza, Sids, Mallawi and Nubaria in 2022 season to identify, the superior hybrids for both high grain yield and stable under multi-locations.The mean squares of locations, hybrids and their interaction were highly significant for most studied traits. The best hybrids were SC Sk166 for earliness, plant and ear heights and SC Sk157, SC Sk158, SC Sk162 and SC Sd155 for high grain yield compared to commercial hybrids, SC168 and SC162. The two hybrids SC Sk162 and SC Sd155 were more stable in most stability measures used.So,this study recommended using hybrids, SC Sk162 and SC Sd155 in Egyptian breeding program for high grain yield and stable. The correlation between two parameters (CV% and b i ), (CV% and S 2 d i ), (CV% and S i (2) ), (b i and R 2 ), (W i2 and S i (1) ), (W i2 and S i (2) ) and (S i (1) and S i (2) ) were positive and significant, indicating that both two parameters were similar in selection stability hybrids, hence only one from the two parameters would be sufficient to select stable hybrid. Meanwhile, the correlation between two parameters; (R 2 and W i2 ) and (R 2 and P i ) were negative and significant, consequently the two parameters were differ in estimation stability of hybrids, so the two parameters should be used independently to estimate stability of hybrids.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"118 32","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141361815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, a field trial was conducted to assess the impact of varying levels of compost (0.0,7.0,10.0 ton fed -1 ) and potassium silicate (0.0, 200, 300 gL -1 ) on two prominent garlic cultivars (Balady and Chinese) in the Egyptian market. Despite differing performances between the two cultivars, all growth parameters, such as No. of leaves plant -1 , fresh and dry weights (g plant -1 ), as well as quantitative and qualitative yield traits including bulb diameter (cm), neck diameter (cm), No. of cloves bulb -1 , bulb yield (ton ha -1 ), dry matter (%) vitamin C (mg 100g -1 ) and carbohydrates (%) significantly increased with higher compost levels. Similarly, improvements in these parameters were observed with increasing rates of potassium silicate. The most effective combined treatment involved the soil application of 10 tons of compost per feddan and spraying of potassium silicate at rate of 300 gL -1 simultaneously. Based on these findings it can be concluded that incorporating compost and potassium silicate into fertilizer management practices is beneficial to enhance soil fertility and improve garlic plant performance. The recommended application rates of 10 tons of compost per feddan and 300 gL -1 of potassium silicate can serve as a guideline for achieving optimal results. Overall, by implementing these recommendations and building upon the findings of this study, garlic producers in Egypt can improve their agricultural practices, meet the increasing market demand, and contribute to the sustainable growth of the garlic industry.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141366305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bread wheat planting techniques and cultivars recommended for typical climatic conditions might not be appropriate in the current era of increased climate variability. As a result, a field study was carried out at El-Gemmeiza Agricultural Research Station, Agricultural Research Center, Egypt, during the two succeeding growing seasons, 2021–2022, and 2022–2023. The objective of this study was to explore the impact of three different planting techniques, broadcasting, drilling, and raised beds, on six bread wheat cultivars: Giza 171, Misr 3, Misr 4, Sakha 95, Nubaria 2, and Sids 14, by yield and yield components. The wheat cultivar Misr 3 produced the highest grain yield (10.51 and10.29 t/ha), surpassing other studied cultivars. In comparison to the drilling technique (9.94 and 9.30 t/ha) and the broadcasting technique (9.49 and 8.72 t/ha), the raised beds technique (10.59 and 10.59 t/ha) proved to be the most effective planting technique respectively. In terms of interaction, the Misr 4 wheat cultivar with the raised beds technique yielded the highest grain yield (11.67 and 11.45 t/ha). However, when using the broadcasting technique, the wheat cultivar Nubaria 2 produced the lowest grain yield (8.27 and 8.11 t/ha) in the consecutive year.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"95 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140457104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
