Giza 6 and NC 9) were studied. NC 9 variety significantly surpassed Giza-6 variety in all studied characters (plant height, number of branches/plant, fresh straw weight/plant (g) dry straw weight/plant (g) number of pods/plant, weight of pods/plant (g), weight of seeds /plant (g), weight of 100 pods (g), weight of 100 seeds (g), seeds weight per 100 pods (g) and shelling percentage = (seed yield/pod yield) × 100). Plant height, weight of 100 pods, weight of 100 seeds, seeds weight per 100 pods, seed oil percentage and pod, seed, oil, fodder and biological yields/fad were significantly increased by raising potassium fertilization rate up to 75 kg K 2 O/fad either under spraying plants with micronutrients or without it.For all aforementioned characters, a significant interaction between potassium fertilization, micronutrients spray and peanut varieties was recorded. The highest values of the previous traits were produced from NC9 variety fertilized with 75 Kg K 2 O /fad and sprayed with micronutrients. While the lowest values were achieved from Giza 6 variety unfertilized with potassium and unsprayed by micronutrients. The study recommends planting NC9 cultivar, fertilizing at a rate of 57 kg K 2 O/feddan, and foliar spraying with microelements under the conditions of Nafesha area, Ismailia governorate.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87370502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plant phenology and grain development traits including (days to anthesis, days to maturity, plant height and grain filling duration) and grain yield and its components traits (spikes number /m 2 , grains number /spikes, grain weight, grain yield, straw yield, biological yield and harvest index) were studied. The analysis of variance indicated that there were highly significant differences between cultivars for most of these traits in both seasons under both normal and heat-stressed conditions. Related to plant phenology and grain development traits, the highest cultivar under heat-stressed conditions at most of these traits was Giza 168 whereas Bani Sweif 5 was the lowest. Concerning grain yield and its components traits, the highest cultivar under heat-stressed conditions for spikes number /m 2 , grain yield, straw yield and biological yield was Bani Sweif 5. Giza 168 was the lowest for grain weight, grain yield, straw yield and biological yield. These results revealed that Bani Sweif 5 cultivar can be used for heat stress programs in wheat.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90269985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiments were conducted during four successive growing seasons from 2018/19 to 2021/22 . For most studied characters in the F 2 and F 3 generations, the genetic variances indicated an important role with moderate to high broad sense heritability. Variations in all studied traits among F 3 families in the four crosses were significant. Regarding yellow rust, the parent Misr 3 was resistant while Sakha 93, Sakha 95 were moderately resistant, Line 1 was moderately susceptible and Misr 1 was susceptible. Yellow rust resistance in the two parents of cross 1 and cross 3 were controlled by one dominant gene for yellow rust. On the other hand, cross 2 and cross 4 were controlled by two dominant genes. The final selection based on grain yield and yellow rust resistant resulted in 11 families from Line 1 × Misr 1 cross, 12 families from Line 1 × Misr 3 cross, 4 families from Line 1 × Sakha 93 cross and 6 families from Line 1 × Sakha 95 cross. These 33 families seemed to be promising genotypes thus, they will be evaluating to select the best lines having highest agronomic traits and rust resistance.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77347095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mean squares due to genotypes, parents, crosses, general (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) were significant or highly significant for the most traits. Days to heading (DH), plant height (PH), spike length (SL) under both dates in addition spikes/plant (NS/P), biological yield/plant (BY/P), harvest index (HI) and 1000 grains weight under normal date and grain yield/plant (GY/P), grains/spike (NG/S) under late date were controlled by additive gene action. The rest traits were controlled by dominance gene action. Under normal date, Sids 14 proved to be a good combiner for NS/P and BY/P. All crosses showed positive highly significant heterobeltiosis for GY/P. The crosses P1XP5 and P3XP4 showed significant or highly significant positive SCA for BY/P, GY/P, number and weight of grains/spike. Under late date, Gemmeiza 11 and Misr 2 proved as good combiner for BY/P, GY/P and NG/S. Significant positive GCA effects found for GY/P of Shandaweel 1. SCA effects were positive significant or highly significant for BY/P and GY/P of the four crosses P1XP3, P1XP5, P2XP6 and P4XP6. The crosses P2XP6, P3XP4, P3XP6 and P4XP6 showed highly significant heterobeltiosis for GY/P. It could be concluded that the two crosses of P1XP5 and P2XP6 were the most heat tolerance with high yield and could be used to obtain segregating populations to apply selection.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"47 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91243585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herous in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021seasons at EL-Qanater Research Station Farm in Qalubia Governorate. The experimental design was a complete randomized block with three replicates. Results showed that foliar spraying of calcium nitrate at 760 ppm or chelated calcium at 380 and 760 ppm + boron (85 ppm) resulted in the highest values of vegetative growth, the physical characteristics of early, total yield and the highest head number of early yield. Moreover, spraying Ca NO 3 at (380 ppm) + B or both Ca-EDTA levels + B produced the maximum head number of total yield. The highest dry matter % and inulin content was achieved by spraying Ca NO 3 (760 ppm) + B or both Ca-EDTA levels + B. Spraying Ca-EDTA (380 ppm) + B achieved the highest values of total phenols and phosphorus %. Spraying both Ca NO 3 (760 ppm) + B produced the highest N and protein % as well as both Ca-EDTA levels + B produced the highest K, Ca, and B content of heads. It could be suggested that spraying Ca-EDTA at 380 and 760 ppm + boron at 85ppm were effective for enhancing artichoke production, improving its quality, and defending off three types of aphids.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82417001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A split-plot design was used for the field experiment in three replications. Barley cultivars (Giza-123, Giza-126 and Giza-127) were assigned to the main-plots. The sub-plots were divided into three intercropping systems; the recommended plant density for barley cultivars was used; the recommended plant densities for sunflower cultivars were 25%, 37%, and 50%. Giza-123 cultivar provided the highest values of all examined sunflower features as well as the greatest values of plant height, number of grains/spike, weight of grains/spike, grain yield/fed, straw yield/fed, biological yield/fed, and harvest index of barley. The highest values of all tested barley attributes came from sowing barley cultivars at recommended plant densities, and the highest values of all analyzed sunflower features came from sowing sunflower at 25.0% of recommended plant densities. Under the saline soil conditions of Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt, it could be concluded that the maximum total income and economic return were obtained by sowing barley Giza-123 cultivar with the recommended plant density on top of the bed, 120 cm apart, and sowing sunflower on one side of the bed in hills, 20 cm apart (50.0% of the recommended plant density).","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81771507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data reveal that spraying vines with GA 3 plus urea at the beginning of (15-20%) flowering significantly reduced the number of berries per bunch and the compactness coefficient of the bunch than the control. Furthermore, sprayed vines with GA 3 plus urea with both trunk girdling and bunches tipping significantly produced a higher bunch weight, berry weight, and size. Despite this, treated bunches with GA 3 plus urea gave no clear effect of SSC/acid ratio in berry juice than the control but increased the values of total chlorophyll a and b content in berry skin. Whereas, when girdling the trunk and tipping the bunch produced a higher SSC/acid ratio in berry juice and total carotenoid content in berry skin than the control.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"209 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87877992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Irrigation intervals every 7days increased significantly yield, total chlorophyll, N, P, K and protein percentages of fruits meanwhile irrigation intervals every 14 days increased significantly phenols, CAT in leaves, VC and carbohydrates in fruits. Glycine betaine or chitosan seed priming with foliar applications had similar effect on most studied characters, which significantly increased in all studied parameters compared with control. The interaction between irrigation every 7 days and chitosan seed priming (at 150 ppm) with foliar application of chitosan (at 150 ppm) recorded the highest values in fruit length, diameter, fruit dry matter, total yield (ton/fed), total chlorophyll, N, P and K and protein percentages in fruits, while phenols, CAT of leaves, VC and carbohydrates in fruits recorded the highest values with the interaction between irrigation every 14 days and glycine betaine seed treatment at 150 ppm with foliar application of glycine betaine (at 700 ppm) compared with other treatments. To achieve quality turf, special maintenance such as frequent mowing is required. This investigation studied the effectiveness of two growth-regulating chemicals at different rates in retarding paspalum vertical growth and thus reducing the mowing frequency, as well as evaluating their impact on paspalum visual quality with a special focus on photosynthetic pigments to determine the optimum concentrations of the used retardants. Two plant growth regulators, paclobutrazol at the rates of 50, 100, 150 mg/l, and cycocel at the rates of 1000, 2000, and 3000 mg/l were applied to seashore paspalum turf grown in alluvial or sandy soil during the two successive seasons of 2020 and 2021. The obtained results showed that spraying paspalum turf grown in alluvial or sandy soil with either paclobutrazol or cycocel led to a significant decrease in clipping fresh and dry weights, where spraying the plants with cycocel caused more suppression than spraying the plants with paclobutrazol. Also, the plants untreated possessed the highest values of clipping fresh and dry weights, while the lowest values were recorded from plants sprayed with cycocel at a rate of 3000 mg/l followed by those sprayed with 2000 mg/l and those sprayed with 1000 mg/l then those sprayed with paclobutrazol at the rate of 150,100 and 50 mg/l, respectively. Furthermore, the untreated plants possessed the highest contents of photosynthetic pigments. Also, plants treated with cycocel gave lower values of photosynthetic pigments than those treated with paclobutrazol.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87571439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
