The propagation of grapevines is an important consideration in commercial viticulture. This study was carried out on grapes cuttings, the grape variety named (Black magic) at Al-Jabal Al-akhdar region from El – Bayda city, Libya during 2022 and 2023. The study aimed at to determine the effect of various concentrations of Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), and two different dates for collecting and preparing cuttings on the rooting ability and success of grape cuttings. Three different concentrations (control water, 1000 and 2000 ppm) were applied on to Black magic variety ( Vitis vinifera L.) in clay soil. After two months of planting the cuttings, the different rooting characteristics were measured such as number of roots per cutting, dry weight of the roots, and vegetative growth measurements such as percentage of successful cuttings, number of leaves per cutting, leaf area (cm 2 ) per cutting, and dry weight of the leaves per cutting. The results showed that the highest percentage of successful cuttings and number of the roots was achieved when using the synthetic hormone (IBA) at a concentration of 2000 ppm. These results were significantly and higher than those of the other treatments in terms of number of leaves, leaf area, and dry weight of the leaves for cuttings that were collected and planted in January.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"205 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135824139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of foliar application of some stimulants (Chitosan, Glycine betaine, and potassium silicate) on some vegetative growth (plant height and leaves dry weight), essential oil percentage, essential oil content, and its constituents of sage plants under different irrigation interval conditions (plants irrigated every 3, 6, and 9 days). The results showed that irrigation of plants every 3 and 6 days was effective in increasing the productivity of plant height and leaf dry weight; however, essential oil percentage, essential oil content, and essential oil constituents of sage were highest during the 9-day irrigation interval. The tubers were exposure to the pure essential oils after 15 Days of harvesting. Essential oils were prepared of 5 ml concentration of each compound. Tubers of control weren't applied with any compounds. Tubers were treated for 5 hours in a room temperature jointed with a refrigerator. Pure essential oils were applied to tubers by thermal fogger machine (Super-2000 Gold sprayer). Both cultivars treated with CIPC or clove oil were of lowest sprouting, weight loss and decay percentage in comparison with all storage treatments during the two seasons. Treated potato tubers of Lady Rosetta cultivar with clove oil essential oil at 10 o C gave the highest levels of DM, vit C and phenols compared with other treatments at the end of storage periods in two seasons. The study suggests using clove oil with Lady Rosetta or Hermes cultivars once time before storage at a rate of 100 ml/ton by fogging and stored potato tuber at 10 o C day/night and 95% RH for 5 months as an efficient natural to reduce sprouting, weight loss and decay percentages with an increase in its quality contents. Moreover, the essential oils are safe for use not produce any adverse effects on the potatoes. (EC= 9.19 dS m −1 ). This work included two factors first magnetite (Mag.) levels (0, 250, 500 and 750 g/tree/year) as a soil treatment second two types of water irrigation first magnetic water (MW) second non-magnetic water (non-MW) arranged in a completely randomized design. From the acquired results, it was shown that applying magnetite to the soil and irrigating with magnetic water had a substantial impact on all the analyzed attributes over both seasons. MW enhanced all studied parameters, components of the production, fruit properties, and leaf mineral content compared with non-MW irrigation during each season. Magnetite soil application at 750 g/tree with MW irrigation had the maximum yield, fruit and flesh weight, fruit length and diameter, total soluble solids, total sugars, reducing sugars and non-reducing sugars and leaves mineral contents (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) compared with the control and other treatments in the two seasons and reduce leaf proline content than the control ones.","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135788608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So, this study aimed to study the effect of foliar spraying with algae and wood vinegar on the yield and quality of some faba bean varieties grown in sandy soil during the winter seasons (2021–22 and 2022–23). The results showed that the foliar spraying with wood vinegar and algae had a substantial impact on yield, its components, and the quality indices of faba bean varieties. Also, the results showed that foliar spraying with high rates of wood vinegar and algae enhanced the seed yield and quality of faba bean varieties. The results also showed that the Nubaria-2 variety was superior to the Giza-716 variety in most of the studied traits. Foliar spraying at a rate of 4 ml/l was superior to all other rates in yield, yield components, P%, K %, protein and total carbohydrates for both faba bean cultivars in the two seasons. The results of the study had important effects on the cultivation of faba bean in modern sandy soil. Foliar spray treatments with wood vinegar and algae can be a successful technique for increasing crop productivity and nutritional content, contributing to food security. The results obtained revealed the superiority of the Nubaria-2 variety over the Giza-716 in terms of yield and its components, and foliar spraying at a rate 4 ml/l of wood vinegar gave better results than other rates","PeriodicalId":16839,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Plant Production","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135109081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
