This study illustrates the importance of multiculturalism among students in fostering a sense of empathy, tolerance, cooperation, and social care in social interactions. In addition, this study also aims to analyze Muslim students’ knowledge about multiculturalism. Students’ knowledge about multiculturalism is presented based on information obtained through questionnaires and interviews. This research was conducted in West Kalimantan, with the data source being students, with 40 respondents from various ethnic backgrounds who were Muslim. The findings revealed that Muslim students’ knowledge is a social capital that impacts social life in West Kalimantan. The multicultural knowledge of Muslim students is manifested in two forms: cultural accommodation and cooperation in the field of culture and religion. A limitation of this study is that the data sources focus on Muslim students. The researcher suggested the need to collect data on students from non-Muslim backgrounds, thus the need to use more in-depth methods to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the case.","PeriodicalId":168002,"journal":{"name":"Nazhruna: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam","volume":"4 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141335741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Utilizing a qualitative case study design, the research involves Kiai, Ustadz, and students as participants. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that: (1) there are five critical components of the hidden curriculum at the boarding school that contribute to developing students' moderate character, namely congregational prayers, religious book study sessions, public speaking, discussions, student life, and daily social interactions; (2) these components embody core values of moderation such as balance, openness, tolerance, non-imposition of opinions, and harmonious coexistence in diversity; (3) through the processes of habituation and internalization of these values, students' characters increasingly reflect moderate qualities. Consequently, the hidden curriculum significantly contributes to enhancing the moderate character of students at the studied location, as demonstrated by the diversity that allows the boarding school community to coexist peacefully.","PeriodicalId":168002,"journal":{"name":"Nazhruna: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam","volume":" 23","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141375079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Self-harm is someone's act of hurting or even injuring themselves. Self-harm is a self-destructive behavior that individuals engage in to cope with emotional pain. Teenagers experience this condition more often than anyone else. Female students often encounter adolescents with similar conditions. This paper aims to determine the forms of self-harm behavior among teenage female students at boarding schools in Central Java. This study employs a qualitative research methodology with a phenomenological approach. The main subjects were three female students aged 18–21 who had engaged in self-harm behavior for at least five days or more and had been doing so for several years, as well as three supporting subjects. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation, and documentation. According to the research results, all subjects tend to self-harm when they feel pressure or have problems. Other significant research further confirms this. Adolescent female students who commit self-harm find comfort in themselves. External relationships do not provide such comfort. In research subjects, the symptoms of self-harm behavior are described as physical symptoms, psychological symptoms, and social phenomena. Meanwhile, factors that influence teenage female students to commit self-harm include genetic factors, biological factors, environmental factors, and psychological factors.","PeriodicalId":168002,"journal":{"name":"Nazhruna: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam","volume":"207 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141375874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is a qualitative type where data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The study, which took place at UIN Walisongo Semarang, Indonesia, and the University of Technology Malaysia, showed that there are differences in the structure and management of the curriculum of Islamic religious education study programs, namely; 1) In Indonesia, a bachelor's degree in Islamic religious teacher education can only be obtained by attending university immediately after students complete high school. In contrast, in Malaysia, high school graduates are required to follow one of the matriculation, foundation, or diploma programs for two years before continuing their undergraduate education at the university or the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG). 2) To complete a bachelor's degree in Islamic education, Indonesian students must complete 144 credits in a minimum of 3.5 years and a maximum of 7 years, while in Malaysia only 128 credits are required to be completed in a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 6 years. 3) Although both are supervised by the dean, the curriculum of the Islamic education study program in Indonesia is completely under the control of the chairperson of the study program, while in Malaysia, 40% is designed by the School of Education department (pedagogy area) and 60% is managed by the Tamaddun Academy (professional and social-personality ability area). The method used is a qualitative method, where data are collected through in-depth discussions with a logical model evaluation analysis in early childhood religious and moral values (NAM) development programs. The results of the study found three important things, namely first, so far value-based learning for early childhood is done through understanding religious symbols, daily routine worship practices, and daily prayers, while moral strengthening is done through fairy tales containing good values. Understanding and strengthening religious moral values in early childhood is implemented variably according to the needs of each school. This study also identified some weaknesses in the cultivation of religious and moral values in early childhood, namely routine activities that can obscure children's understanding and children's lack of enthusiasm due to mistakes in approaches that are not adapted to psychological development. Variations in teaching methods that are not appropriate for children's psychology can cause a distorted understanding of religious and moral values to become shallow. A holistic and diverse approach that takes into account the needs and characteristics of each child is needed to ensure that the cultivation of religious and moral values is effective and sustainable.","PeriodicalId":168002,"journal":{"name":"Nazhruna: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam","volume":" 45","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141127930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Al-Zarnūjī’s idea, a classical Muslim scholar, as a point of reference for his esteemed work on the concept of Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim has been one of the references in learning and teaching guidelines among pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) in Indonesia. This article aims to critically explore respect as a moral concept and explain how respect can contribute to current discussions in developing character education from the perspective of al-Zarnūjī’s Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim. A critical analysis of books and journals that were cited was done concerning the contributions made in the field of character education. The study’s findings have led to three major disputes. The first is deference to knowledge as a source of illumination. Secondly, it is deference to the instructor as the foremost exemplar and facilitator of information exchange; and thirdly, it is honoring the colleague as a fellow participant in the educational journey. Respect in all of its dimensions should thus guide the process of teaching and learning.","PeriodicalId":168002,"journal":{"name":"Nazhruna: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam","volume":" 67","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pluralism of the Indonesian nation, including Aceh, the westernmost province of Indonesia, is one of the factors causing radicalism to quickly enter through global progress and the massive spread of Wahhabism, which can penetrate the gaps in Islamic education. Therefore, for prevention, the Aceh government implemented three essential policies. The results of field data from several key informants consisting of Aceh border Dayah leaders and the Aceh Dayah Education Service, which is strengthened by the results of field observations, lead to the conclusion that the success of the three Aceh government policies cannot be separated from the results of the peace negotiations between GAM (Free Aceh Movement) and Indonesia in 2005, which led to the issuance of the \"Aceh Government Law\" (UUPA), serving as the basis for the implementation of formal Dayah education in Aceh.","PeriodicalId":168002,"journal":{"name":"Nazhruna: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam","volume":" 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141129917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
