The inherent fractal structure in the space vector representation of multilevel inverters is brought out in this paper. The proposed method utilizes the inherent fractal structure of the space vector representation of multilevel inverters. Sector identification and switching vector determination in SVPWM through this fractal approach reduces the computational complexity. The proposed method does not use any look up tables for sector identification. The switching space vectors are also directly determined without using any look up tables. The proposed scheme can be extended to an n-level inverter without increase in complexity. Both switch turn-on and switch turn-off instants are determined asynchronously through comparison of the converter output voltage with a voltage ramp driven by the digital controller and generated through digital-to-analog conversion (DAC). With respect to a previously reported mixed-signal solution, the implementation proposed here generates different slope voltage ramps during the switch-on and switch-off phases and it fully approximates the dynamic capabilities of a multi-loop control with an internal hysteresis current control based on the estimated inductor current. This SiC diodes have many advantages compared with fast recovery diode(Si-FRD) from the aspect of small recovery charge. To make use of this advantage, the most suitable operating conditions is to use at current lead mode of high frequency inverter circuit. In this paper, the authors evaluated SiC diode + IGBT inverter at current lead mode and Power MOSFET inverter at current lag mode. From the experimental results, switching loss of SiC + IGBT inverter over 100 kHz frequency operation range is sufficiently small. The analytical expressions of input and output ripples of single-phase and three-phase AC choppers are derived. The results are used to design the required input and output LC filter. As the unique values of inductance and capacitance of the filter cannot be determined based only on ripple specification, an additional criterion based on minimum total reactive power is proposed. In the proposed electronic ballast, all switching devices operate at ZVS turn on and turn off. And the proposed electronic ballast only uses a symmetrical half-bridge topology to procure the functions of a boost power-factor-correction converter and a half-bridge series parallel-loaded inverter. In spite of its simplicity, an excellent performance concerning load and supply is achieved, ensuring a sinusoidal and in phase supply current. The design equations are derived from the analyzed results based on fundamental approximation, and then an easy-to- use design tool is provided accordingly under considerations of filament heating and ignition. A 36-pulse converter is realized using a specially designed autotransformer and two 18-pulse diode bridge rectifiers. The effect of load variation on VCIMD is also studied to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed AC-DC converter. A set of power quality indices on input AC mains and on DC bus for a VCIMD fed from 6-pulse and 18-pulse AC-DC converters are also given to compare their performance. It is observed that input current total harmonic distortion (THD) less than 5% is possible with the proposed topology at varying-loads. A laboratory prototype of this 36-pulse AC-DC converter is developed and test results are presented to validate the design and simulation model. As a result, the yield of the system decreases remarkably, in severe cases, the hot-spot problem can arise and the photovoltaic modules can be irreversibly damaged. In order to improved the system performance and maximize the energy converter efficiency under the mismatch condition, a novel DC-module- based photovoltaic power system is proposed. This ANN-SVPWM controller completely covers the undermodulation and overmodulation modes with operation extended linearly and smoothly up to square wave (six-step). The ANN controller has the advantage of the very fast implementation of an SVM algorithm that can increase the switching frequency of power switches of the static converter, this point has a very important sense for minimizing DC bus capacitance, unbalanced DC source and the ripple of load current. The ANN controller uses the individual training strategy with the fixed weight and supervised models. The techniques which are considered for comparative study are (i) filtering approach using the conventional low pass filter, (ii) instantaneous real and imaginary power (pq) theory, (iii) instantaneous active and reactive currents method (dq), and (iv) nonlinear least squares (NLS) estimation method. Comparison is based on simulation studies carried out in SABER. It is shown through simulation results that the dynamic behaviour of the harmonic extraction approach has an effect on the active power filter ratings. The simulation study reveals the superiority of the nonlinear least squares approach. In this hybrid simulator, the electromagnetic transient simulation of SVC is implemented using dynamic phasor model while the transient stability simulation of the external system is carried out using fundamental phasor model. By taking the fundamental and fifth harmonics into consideration, the dynamic phasor model of SVC presented in this paper is a large-signal, time- variant model which can simulate the nonlinear characteristics of SVC with fast execution speed and high accuracy. The use of DP modeling eliminates the problem of phase discontinuity and dc-offset found in conventional TSP-EMTP hybrid simulation.
