Depression significantly reduces the quality of life.2 In the aging period, there are many social stressors that increase the risk of depression, one of these stresses is social isolation.3 Loneliness is an unpleasant, negative, painful and painful individual experience that creates a sense of impatience, uselessness, frustration, depression.4 In recent years, with the growing number of home computers, much research has been done on the emergence of new and affordable technology for the treatment of mental disorders.5 The results of neurological research, in addition to the therapeutic effects of digital-based interventions in depression, have a positive effect on the release of hormones such as endorphin and dopamine.6","PeriodicalId":163225,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115058620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mean age of patients at the time of surgery was 60.4±7.1 years. The proportion of patients over 60 years of age amounted to 44.1% (67 patients). Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) was performed according to the indications in conditions of artificial circulation and cold cardioplegia. All patients underwent clinical and instrumental examination taking into account Recommendations for myocardial revascularization (2018). Patients who underwent repeated CABG, emergency CABG, combined interventions on coronary arteries, myocardium and heart valves were excluded from the study. The index of comorbidity was assessed by Charlson ME et al. as modified by R. A. Deyo et al. Anticoagulant treatment has both benefits and risks for elderly patients. Benefits include the prevention of ischemic and thromboembolic events and this action is important in a rehabilitation setting, where the patient arrives with motor deficits and periods of variable duration to be spent between the bed and the rehabilitation sessions. The choice to undertake an anticoagulant treatment in rehabilitation setting appears crucial because the adverse events due to both the therapy and the patient’s status (frailty, tendency to fall) can undermine the success of the rehabilitation itself or be at least potentially due to new exacerbations.","PeriodicalId":163225,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122148574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research took place in the parish of Bonfim, Oporto city, Portugal, and involved a sample of 385 residents, divided into three age groups (young-adults, middle-aged adults and older adults). The data came from the Questionnaire for Assessing Needs, Interests and Potentials for the Development of Intergenerational Programs, from which the following variables were considered: social participation; leisure activities; social support and quality of life. As main results, one can point that older subgroups show less social participation and leisure activities, low social support networks and also low quality of life compared to younger subgroups. A gender effect was also noticed, since the social roles performed across adulthood by man and women result in less social participation of women, less leisure activities, less social support networks and a worse evaluation of their quality of life.","PeriodicalId":163225,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124016374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hars et al.1 to address their research, they start from the fact that music is beneficial for multitasking training, influencing both cognitive functioning and mood. In their research they have older adults from 65 years of age. The conclusion reached after six months of intervention, one hour per week, was that the use of music from Dalcroze1 methodology improved cognitive function and decreased anxiety compared to control groups.","PeriodicalId":163225,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121846821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hans Selye5 proposed that the stress process occurs in three phases: alarm (alert), resistance and exhaustion, each of which is related to specific reactions. Later studies, conducted in Brazil by Lipp, led to the establishment of a new stress phase between the resistance and exhaustion stages, which was called the near-exhaustion phase.6 The near-exhaustion phase comes at the end of the resistance phase cited by Selye and provides an opportunity for the development of pathologies which precede exhaustion. Each stress phase embodies specific symptoms, and progression through the phases indicates a worsening picture, eventually leading to the development of diseases to which the individual is predisposed.","PeriodicalId":163225,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"50 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133796974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
