This is partly due to the negative image that has developed among historians, especially as a result of the political developments that occurred at that time. Three things were seen as \"sins\" of the Umayyad dynasty, namely changing the state system (Daulah Islam) from the previous \"democracy\" (Syuro) to a monarchy system, the caliphs focused more on the conquest process so that they neglected the fostering of civilization, and the dominance of the Arabs in government . Therefore, this paper reviews the role and contribution of the Umayyad dynasty in the process of Islamic development. This paper uses a historical method consisting of heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography, and uses a political approach to focus its analysis. From the results of the studies that have been carried out, several important points were found related to the strategic role of the Umayyad dynasty in history, namely (1) political stabilization, (2) regional expansion, (3) infrastructure development, and (4) Islamic preaching. There are several factors that caused the end of this golden age of Islam. This research is included in Library Research or literature assessment. The Mongol invasion of the Islamic world marked the end of the classical centuries and the beginning of the Middle Ages in Islamic history. The Mongol invasion could not be underestimated in the capacity of its military forces. One of the factors in the defeat of the Islamic world to the Mongol invasion, namely from the Mongol military power itself, and coupled with the internal weakness of Muslims, which began to experience divisions in terms of power. Other than that, the mentality of the Muslims themselves in war has begun to look weak and they have begun to suffer from the disease of fear of death. The presence of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was the beginning of progress as well as renewal in the Ottoman Empire which had long experienced collapse and destruction. In addition, his secular ideas made him the first leader to pioneer the westernization movement. With that Turkey became a modern country under the leadership of Kemal Atthatruk with military guard. In addition, he also made Muslims and interfaith tolerant in their religious practices. He also created a modern form of Islam by turning it into Islamic-oriented political parties.
