Given a set of future operations for the CF, ranging from known ongoing domestic commitments to possible international missions, the goal is to identify potential shortages of deployable personnel by occupation, rank and unit, up to five years in advance of actual deployment. The problem has a specified deterministic objective function and constraints on the conditional value-at-risk of the portfolio. Approximate optimal solutions to this problem are usually obtained by solving a sample-average approximation. We derive bounds on the gap in the objective value between the true optimal and an approximate solution so obtained. We show that under certain regularity conditions the approximate optimal value converges to the true optimal at the canonical rate O(n-1/2), where n represents the sample size. After a review of the controversial discussions on the deployment of distributed simulation in the industrial domain, this article derives the need of support for such basic management tasks. Based on the practical experiences from an industrial project from the manufacturing domain, in which several legacy SLX models had to be integrated, we demonstrate how these management tasks have been supported and which tools were needed for this purpose. This paper presents a further simulation experimental study on two variations of WIPLOAD Control in semiconductor wafer fab environment. The first variation mechanism is to control separate WIPLOAD for each part type at a specified level under the situation when the type of job going to be released next can be controlled. The second variation is a mechanism with additional release control points along the production line. The performance of the WIPLOAD variations are compared with that of the original WIPLOAD Control and other existing release methods including CONWIP and Constant release in semiconductor manufacturing environment. The inventory level has been modeled as a jump-diffusion process and the two-number inventory policy has been implemented in the supply chain system. The simulated annealing algorithm has been used to search the optimal critical values of the two-number policy. The jump magnitude has been considered in two cases: constant and Laplace distribution which has favorable property, i.e. leptokurtic. Such 3D modeling methods entail accurate definition of points, lines and their relationships in the spatial coordinate system. Unlike CAD modeling, the surveying technique of photogrammetry takes a completely different approach by deriving metric information about an object through measurements conducted on photographs of the object. The very basic technique of photogrammetry is effective and computationally simple. With much less efforts, digital cameras and photogrammetry software have made possible 3D reconstruction of an object in digital form (coordinates and derived geometric elements). The resultant 3D models may well satisfy application needs in construction simulation visualization. However, the number of papers reporting on its application to real world problems is limited. At the 2002 PADS conference, researchers discussed the need to go beyond synchronization and performance issues, and, in particular, to demonstrate that parallel simulation could be used in real world applications outside military and network simulations. Since then, we have seen an increase in the number of papers on the parallel simulation applications in areas such as operations management and the physical sciences. This paper advocates the application of parallel simulation in population dynamics which is often used as the basis for policy planning and analysis. In this paper, we show how the simulation model is implemented using the ¿sik parallel simulation library. We conduct some experiments to measure the simulation performance. Analytical models and simulation experiments are used to evaluate the tradeoffs between throughput and inventory performance. Tradeoff curves based on inflating the inventory level for the CONWIP system and the arrival rate for the ¿push¿ system are generated. As well, the variability of interarrival and processing times are considered as experimental factors. Results show that, contrary to what some previous studies have indicated, CONWIP efficiency is not inherently superior to ¿push¿ system efficiency. Instead, the release mechanism used for the ¿push¿ system has a significant impact on which system will perform better. This problem is motivated by the tail analysis of portfolios of assets driven by correlated Black-Scholes models. We propose three different procedures that can be rigorously shown to be asymptotically optimal as the tail probability of interest decreases to zero. The first algorithm is based on importance sampling and is as easy to implement as crude Monte Carlo. Significant increases in throughput are required in response to global demand. Coal rail systems provide common infrastructure for a large number of independently operated mines and multiple domestic and export coal terminals. Coal train movements are typically unscheduled, driven by varying mine demand and are complex due to yard and port constraints. The unique complications and unscheduled nature of the rail operations make the challenge of simulating the operations beyond most commercially available rail simulation software, which are generally timetable driven with some localized conflict resolution.
