The objective is to evaluate the operational costs and performance associated with liner shipping, as well as the impact of individual service schedules on the overall system. The approach proposes a discrete-event simulation model where shipping activities, container ship operations, and intermodal container movements are considered. The model allows for direct and transshipment operations of container cargo, and the evaluation of fuel consumption and other logistics metrics. The model is used to evaluate a liner shipping network consisting of four service routes, up to 64 container ships, and up to 20 ports with diverse physical characteristics and cost components. An optimal inspection strategy is the one that results in the lowest total inspection cost, while still assuring a required output quality. Because of the complexity of the problem, simulation is used to model the multi-stage process subject to inspection and to calculate the resulting inspection costs. Simulation optimization is then used to find the optimal inspection strategy. Ahwaz Pipe Mills is producing wide variety of diameter sizes (12\" to 56\") all capable of meeting a large diversity of customer requirements for gas/oil and water in past 30 years The basic process of pipe production is not complex. The steel sheets pass several press and welding machines to form a pipe. Due to the necessary buffers and inspection stages it becomes complex. One of the most important challenges at the plants are the downtimes of the equipment which requires the production system to be dynamic. According this uncertainty measuring the amount of time that the whole production line is idle is almost an impossible job. The qualification proposals are based on flexibility measures that have been shown to model capacity allocation in semiconductor workshops. In this paper, qualifications are used in order to see how increased flexibility for the capacity allocation improve scheduling. For this a scheduler simulator for the photolithography area has been used. During clamping, HGA is deformed. The values of static attitude and gram load which are significant characteristics of HGA are affected and could exceed acceptable values. Consequently, a lot of HGAs are rejected or these might decrease the performance and the read-write precision of hard disk drive. In this research, finite element analysis is performed to study the behaviors of HGA under various clamping forces and configurations for the process development. Results show that using lower clamping force and having rectangular shape for the upper part and with fillet for the lower part of clamping unit have less deformation than the other configurations of clamping. The model is written in Java and integrated in a package that employs a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) for convenient display of results. In our attempt to model the dynamics of such systems, we explore an agent-based approach to model growth of email-based social networks, in which individuals establish, maintain and allow atrophy of links through contact-lists and e-mails. The model is based on the idea of common neighbors, but also on a detailed specialization of the classical preferential attachment theory, thus capturing a deeper understanding of the topology of inter-node connections. In our event-based simulation that schedules the agents¿ actions over time, the proposed model is amenable to significant efficiency improvements through an application of the Gillespie stochastic simulation schemes. Using ideas from complexity science and informed by the recently developed equation-free technique a new method for identifying initializing conditions is developed. Many short bursts of simulation, called slithers, are used to construct the dynamic function of a system. Importantly, the function reveals the point attractor of the dynamic system to which it will evolve and the conditions at the attractor define the initializing conditions for future simulation runs. Objectives like lot cycle time and throughput must be optimized to push the technological development and secure the existence on the rapid growing global market. But especially in the frontend the manufacturing process is dominated by cluster-tools and reentrance flows which makes a production planning and optimization very hard. The workflow here is mostly controlled only by dispatch rules. To get a further improvement in manufacturing planning strategies, there is an increasing request of exact or simulation-based solution methods for specified work centers or bottleneck machine groups. One example of this is the semiconductor oven process. Here, complex batch processes with a lot of restrictions have to be scheduled. A reduction of cycle time in this section by optimized manufacturing strategies has a great influence on all global optimization objectives.
