Physical modelling means in this contest a modelling when a computer aided approach is used with the basic aim to keep the physical structure of a real system or its topology as much as possible in the model. Bond graphs represent a very efficient and traditional approach. However new object-oriented and multi-domain tools based on Modelica language are more appropriate for industrial staff or for the people who do not have a deep insight into modelling and simulation. In the paper we describe some experiences obtained with several education and industrial application projects using Dymola-Modelica environment. Mostly advantages obtained with object oriented approach and a special connection implementation will be presented. However such advanced tools bring also potential dangers: namely when users can develop complex models with powerful libraries they often forget that validation is still the most important part of a modelling cycle. The second problem appears from the complexity which is usually obtained. These problems directed our research activities and will be briefly presented at the end of the paper.","PeriodicalId":161995,"journal":{"name":"2011 UkSim 13th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132850414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Special attention was paid to two elements of evolutionary algorithms, which have not been fully solved yet, i.e. to the methods used to create the initial population and the method of creating the robustness (fitness) function. Other elements of the SEA algorithm, i.a. cross-over, mutation, selection, etc. were also defined from a systemic point of view. Computational experiments were conducted using a selected subsystem of the Polish Electrical Power System and three programming languages: Java, C++ and Matlab. Selected comparative results for the SAE algorithm in different implementations were also presented.","PeriodicalId":161995,"journal":{"name":"2011 UkSim 13th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131674445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electro-Active Polymers (EAP)materials have been used to construct the muscles type four fingers hand. The main dilemma in the control of artificial muscles type fingers, is to provide an accurate fingertips tracking within the operational space. Yet, if bending angles are controlled successfully, fingertips might deviate from a desired position. This is because of finger deflections and vibrations. In this sense, an Artificial Neural Network (ANN)based trajectory planning approach is proposed to calculate modifications in the command values of joint angles for tracking control problem, the position error of the tip of each finger in the operational space is minimized. Study has shown, although artificial muscles robotics hand increases a hand dexterity and allows higher hand manipulability index as compared to moving actuation system, however, accurate control of finger jointing and stuffiness remain vital issues.","PeriodicalId":161995,"journal":{"name":"2011 UkSim 13th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117265657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An improved information feedback strategy, Weighted Mean Velocity Feedback Strategy (WMVFS) is proposed. With WMVFS, simulation results show that better performance is achieved compared with Mean Velocity Feedback Strategy (MVFS). The mean value of average flux with our strategy is 4.25% higher than that with MVFS, which means the traffic efficiency increases. And the coefficient of variation of average flux with our strategy is 52.25% lower than that with MVFS, which means the fluctuation is suppressed. Other results of performance metrics, mean velocity, vehicle number and travel time show the same conclusions. The influence of density of dynamic vehicles on average flux is analyzed. The results show that our strategy is more stable when the density of dynamic vehicles changes than MVFS.","PeriodicalId":161995,"journal":{"name":"2011 UkSim 13th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"270 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116191544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The referenced materials agree on the main challenge in creating energy efficient mobile ad-hoc networks. The quest is to realize a simple, yet efficient means of routing and managing the Mobile Ad-hoc Network communications with existing technology. Although many protocols have been proposed, a need still exists to address increased efficiency.
