The delay-tap sampling scatter plots not only identify three kinds of RZ-OOK signals but also reflect signal distortion caused by CD. The results indicate that the as-prepared sample has monoclinic structure of EuPO<sub>4</sub> and is mainly composed of single-crystal nanowires with the diameter of around 30 nm and the length of 2~5 μm. Under the UV light irradiation, single-crystal EuPO<sub>4</sub> nanowires exhibit bright orange-red emission corresponding to the <sup>5</sup>D<sub>0</sub>→<sup>7</sup>FJ (J = 1, 2, 3, 4) transitions of the Eu<sup>3+</sup> ions. For TE polarized coupling of an optical fiber at the wavelength of 1.55 μm, the fiber coupling efficiency of our grating coupler is 81%, output coupling angle is 8 degrees and 1dB spectral bandwidth is 80 nm. This performance is superior to the traditional uniform grating coupler without gradually etched grooves. It is found that the SHG conversion efficiency can be modulated by the field of fundamental wave (FW). In order to investigate the effect of the FW on the SHG, nonlinear non-polarized material is added in back of a crystal and the corresponding SHG conversion efficiency is calculated. Results show that the SHG conversion efficiency can be enhanced significantly when transmission resonance takes place, however, for different resonant peaks the values are different. CO2 laser optical waveguides are gaining a central position in these applications. Glass-drawing technique and sol-gel methods have been used to prepare GeO2 and germania-based glass hollow waveguides. In this work, a GeO2 glass hollow waveguide sample was fabricated by using a liquid phase deposition (LPD) approach. The morphology, structure and optical transmission properties of the sample were studied. The results indicate that a GeO2 glass reflective layer could be formed on the inner wall of a silica glass capillary tube via the LPD process. The GeO2 glass layer and the substrate silica glass tube constitute an attenuated total reflectance (ATR) hollow waveguide structure. An nr<;1 band centering at around 10.6 μm is observed by loss spectrum analysis of the sample. The scattering and transmission of light is respectively considered in order to calculate the mean refractive index of human blood. The result is compared with the reported values. It shows that the transmission of light should be firstly considered to get the mean refractive index of liquid biological tissue. In the experiment, we used a fiber Bragg grating Fabry-Perot (FBG F-P) etalon and a Fiber Loop Mirror (FLM) as the reflectors of the laser cavity, and used a length of 4m Er-doped fiber as the saturable absorber to suppress mode hopping and stabilize frequency effectively. An all fiber polarization controller (PC) was used to restrain spatial hole burning effect in gain fiber. Using a length of 3m Er-doped fiber pumped by a laser diode at 975nm, stable single-wavelength laser at 1544.714nm was acquired, and the 3dB linewidth of laser was 0.013nm.
