Explaining the Orthodox doctrine in his writings, the Metropolitan included in the definition of a number of concepts some terms, expressions and images borrowed from both the Catholic and Protestant sides in order to reveal their content as fully as possible. The final baptism of all three Nubian states (Nobatia, Makuria, Alodia) took place in the 6th century. A strong and lasting alliance with Byzantium implied cultural, religious and trade contacts. The historiography is dominated by the theory of the collapse of Nubian- Byzantine ties after the Islamic Conquest of Egypt in the 7th century. The similarity of Nubian society with Byzantine after the seventh century is explained by the theory of memory of Byzantium in Nubia. On the other hand, relying on the Arab-Byzantine sources, the trade relations between Nubia and Byzantium can be traced back to the 10th century. According to Ibn Yahya the Nubians appear as a guard of emperors in Constantinople. The general Byzantine term of the Ethiopians mainly denoted various East African peoples in Byzantine sources. {"title":"Тајна врлине у Јермином Пастиру и њена улога у изграђивању Цркве и спасењу човека","authors":"Његош Стикић","doi":"10.46825/tv/2021-3-393-410","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46825/tv/2021-3-393-410","url":null,"abstract":"The intention of the author is to provide a more systematic, not exhaustive, insight into the mystical meaning, place, and role of virtue in the economy of salvation, based on the revelation recorded in the early Christian writing of the New Testament prophet and apostle Hermas – The Shepherd. The author locates the place of virtue in the realism of simultaneous and interdependent building of salvation (of man) and building of the Church as a unique (multidimensional) process. Like very few paternal writings, the Shepherd gives us an explicit conclusion that the virtues are the ones that “hold” and build the Church, “dressing” the faithful in the “clothes,” “powers” and Name of the Son of God. By “dressing” in virtues, Christians achieve that “in the likeness,” they are likened to Christ, thus becoming similar and compatible to each other, thus gaining, as a new genus, a one unique identity. That is why the Church, which is being built as the Tower of Salvation, is composed of a multitude, by repentance and virtue shaped and ennobled elects (stones), manifesting itself, thus, in a „monolithic“ building, monochromatic white, as from one carved stone. Симић","doi":"10.46825/tv/2021-3-483-496","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46825/tv/2021-3-483-496","url":null,"abstract":"One of the most important ecumenical documents — the Lima document (1982), has adopted as a result of a long-term effort of the Faith and Order Commission, and since then it holds the unquestionable primacy among numerous joint documents, both within the seventy- year history of the World Council of Churches, and within the bilateral dialogues of various Christian denominations. But while the Lima document within the “Western Christianity” — especially in the churches of the English and German- speaking areas — is the subject of permanent pastoral and academic discussions, somehow within the Orthodox East — thus, within the context of the Serbian Orthodox Church, too — its proper theological reception is missing. This may be surprising if we take into consideration that, according to the opinion of many contemporary theologians, the Orthodox made an irreplaceable contribution to the creation of the Lima document — the greatest liturgical document of the ecumenical importance so far. The intention of this document was to provide a concrete framework of a (possible) joint (ecumenical) Liturgy, using the Orthodox liturgical rite as a basis. Иако су коментари у патристичко доба били фреквентни медијум за посредовање библијске поруке, те узимајући у обзир чињеницу да на Западу, па и у Грчкој, постоје многобројне научно профилисане едиције коментара на све књиге Библије, у нашим срединама коментар као књижевни жанр није нашао одговарајуће место у библијским студијама. Стога је појава једног коментара попут овога, о коме ће надаље бити речи, велики догађај не само за средину аутора и његових непосредних реципијената, већ и за целокупну Библистику Западног Балкана. Нарочито је важно нагласити да се ради о презентацији вишедеценијског рада, како научно- истраживачког, тако и наставно- дидактичког, на једном библијском тексту, и то у најзахтевнијем научном жанру, наиме у форми научног коментара. Мато Зовкић, сарајевски професор Новога Завета у пензији, је својим коментаром на Саборну посланицу Јаковљеву не само испоштовао опште прихваћене научне стандарде савремене Библистике, већ и успоставио смернице и критеријуме за продукцију коментара на библијске списе у срединама у којима то још увек није постала пракса. Особито је значајно да се готово истовремено у суседству појавио још један научни коментар двојице православних теолога, професора др Владислава Топаловића и др Дарка Ђога на Еванђеље по Матеју (Фоча, 2021). Интересантно је да постоји извесна блискост између Еванђеља по Матеју и Саборне посланице Јаковљеве (уп. стр. 31–34). The first part denotes fundamental elements of the Christian idea of freedom as it can be found in the theology of Saint Apostle Paul, notably the idea of liberation from sin, and Paul’s views on how to live this freedom. In the second part, we have the analysis of the key aspects of modernity, such as rationalism, autonomy, and the notion of human rights, and how these ideas influenced the formulation of the modern idea of freedom.
