The strong variability of the PV can cause instabilities in the grid. Using EVs to smooth the fluctuation of PV power is a promising solution. A real-time control of the EVs is developed based on the power measurements at the point of common coupling (PCC). The proposed control takes into account the stochastic distribution of the arrivals and departures times. The performance of the proposed strategies is validated by simulations with a satisfactory results.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115726979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study starts with the model formulation by taking the level of customer satisfaction, transformer installation cost, and energy loss into consideration. It is followed by the application of flower pollination algorithm such that the site decision can be well guided through this optimization technique. To validate the effectiveness of the approach, the method has been tested through an example system with comparisons to other published methods. The test outcome demonstrates the satisfactory computation performance, supporting the feasibility of the method for the application to a grid system that is considered.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124572442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, the cardiac fat varies unrelated to the overall fat of the subject, and, therefore, it reinforces the quantitative analysis of these adipose tissues as being essential. Clinical decision support systems are computer programs capable of evaluating information and providing a corresponding diagnosis or data to complement the physicists' analyses. The aim of this work is to propose a method capable of fully automatically segmenting two types of cardiac adipose tissues that stand apart from each other by the pericardium on CT images obtained by the standard acquisition protocol used for coronary calcium scoring. Much effort was devoted to promote minimal user intervention and ease of reproducibility. The methodology proposed in this work consists of a registration, which will roughly adjust input images to a standard, an extraction of features related to pixels and their surrounding area and a segmentation step based on data mining classification algorithms that define if an incoming pixel is of a certain type. Experimentations showed that the achieved mean accuracy for the epicardial and mediastinal fats was 98.4% with a mean true positive rate of 96.2%. In average, the Dice similarity index was equal to 96.8%.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114383261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed controller uses a Second Order Sliding Mode (SOSM) technique to develop the control law. The control objectives are to achieve desired dc-link capacitor voltage regulation and unity power factor. This requires controllers with fast response in the presence of external disturbances. An Extended State Observer (ESO) is employed to asymptotically reject the disturbances which are integrated in the controller design. The proposed control strategy has a cascaded structure which consists of current tracking (inner) and voltage regulation (outer) loops based on ESO. Multi-rate simulation illustrates the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed controller under parametric uncertainties and load variations.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114952429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This physics based model of Li-ion battery (with LiCoO2 cathode chemistry) with healthy battery parameters was considered as the reference model. Battery fault conditions such as aging, overcharge, and over discharge cause significant variations of parameters from nominal values and can be considered as separate models. Output error injection based partial differential algebraic equation (PDAE) observers are used to generate the residual voltage signals. These residuals are then used in MMAE algorithm to detect the ongoing fault conditions of the battery. Simulation results show that the fault conditions can be detected and identified accurately which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed battery fault detection method.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"524 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116182304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Let's cite for example the flux-weakening operation of electrical drives for propulsion. If the control of classical three-phase drives under voltage and current limits are known for a long time, the specific characteristics of multiphase drives open the way to researches on their control under such constraints. This paper aims to explain what are the main differences between three-phase and multiphase drives when they run under voltage and current constraints and try to show what are the scientific and technical problems to be solved. Some first results are given in order to show that Model Predictive Control (MPC) is expected to be a good candidate to answer the proposed challenge.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116422583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ASIC has been successfully tested using different types of sensitive materials, including carbon black-polymer composites and bi-functional linker molecules with gold nanoparticles. Different geometries and configurations have been designed for each generation of the device. In the interest of getting a better understanding of the sensor behaviour, which is affected by a number of physical phenomena, namely temperature, humidity, chemical properties of the sensing materials, and geometry of the electrodes, among others, a novel multiphysics model of the device has been developed and simulation results are reported in this paper. The model explores coupled electrical and thermal behaviour of the resistive microsensors obtained after depositing sensing materials upon the electrodes built in the second metal layer of a CMOS process. The results show the distribution of electric potential and the distribution of temperature obtained for a set of resistive sensors made out of carbon black-polymer composites.","PeriodicalId":156295,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121865451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
