For the measurements special hardware test environment was designed. Both systems utilize the unlicensed 2.4 GHz ISM band, so the potential problem of interferences is very important. In the paper negative effects of the interferences for the system performance are presented. Methods for improving coexistence and for avoiding interferences are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":156210,"journal":{"name":"2003 33rd European Microwave Conference, 2003","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130801466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This component is a key part of the feeding network of a multifunctional antenna, working at five frequency bands associated to terrestrial and satellite radio services. By using interdigital capacitors in conjunction with the stepped impedance technique, very good results in terms of compactness and performances have been obtained. An unconventional arrangement of the filters has led to a further reduction of the dimensions.","PeriodicalId":156210,"journal":{"name":"2003 33rd European Microwave Conference, 2003","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132824869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method makes use of the reciprocity of a single transmission line that propagates a calibration signal to all elements. This approach avoids a symmetric divider network and therefore it can be easily applied to two-dimensional, not equally spaced or non-planar arrays. An estimation of the systematic error is given. The concept is experimentally verified.","PeriodicalId":156210,"journal":{"name":"2003 33rd European Microwave Conference, 2003","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133801867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its discriminator circuit is composed of coaxially connected, and commercially available passive elements. Simulation and measurement results of quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) demodulation tests at carrier frequencies between 2 GHz and 20 GHz are shown. Without the use of hardware filters and amplifiers data rates up to 1 MBit/s can be demonstrated. The achieved low bit error rate (BER) proves the capability of this new concept for high bit rate wireless data links. For demodulation, a new packet based real-time calibration method was applied. Due to its inherent broad band properties, the proposed front-end is especially qualified for the realisation of multistandard, reconfigurable receiver platforms. An introduction to emerging six-port applications will be given. The functional principle of the six-port receiver including the theoretical background are explained. Simulation and measurement results are discussed and possible improvements will be pointed out.","PeriodicalId":156210,"journal":{"name":"2003 33rd European Microwave Conference, 2003","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124138044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Linearization methods can be used to increase the linearity of the power amplifiers (PA). However, it is not reasonable to use complicated, power consuming and high cost systems. This paper presents a digital predistortion implementation for WCDMA signals using an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) as DSP and investigates the application of this system in handsets. The method applied requires minimum change in the conventional transmitter path configuration but considerable PAE improvement can be achieved.","PeriodicalId":156210,"journal":{"name":"2003 33rd European Microwave Conference, 2003","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114584528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
