Here, CZE with indirect UV-diode array detection (CZE-DAD) was employed with a background electrolyte system comprising of an Agilent Technologies proprietary basic anion buffer at pH 12.0 and a forensic anion detection method. The limits of detection (LOD) for this method ranged between 3 and 5 ppm and involved hydrodynamic injection of 50 mbar for 6 s with a negative polarity separation voltage of -30 kV at 30°C, a detection wavelength of 350 nm and indirect reference of 275 nm. Fourteen different anions were checked for in the water samples that were examined and included bromide, chloride, thiosulfate, nitrate, nitrite, sulfate, azide, carbonate, fluoride, arsenate, phosphate, acetate, lactate, and silicate. The water samples were collected from Northern New York towns and the Raquette River water system, the third longest river in New York State and the largest watershed of the central and western Adirondacks. The concentrations detected for these anions ranged from <5.0 ppm to 260 ppm.</p>","PeriodicalId":15534,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Chromatography & Separation Techniques","volume":"8 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2157-7064.1000361","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"35630518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As stated and discussed, the use of highly sensitive capillary electrophoresis technique for the chemical analysis of major concentration of calcium and magnesium content in limestone and dolomite samples is never justified in comparison with the well established EDTA complexometric titration methods. Complexometric titration methods satisfy all the essential requirements of: Reliability (accurate and precise, comparable, traceable) Applicability (applicable to diverse sample matrices) and Practicability (simple, rapid, cost-effective, no requirement of standards and calibration of instrument, no expensive instrumentation and are widely recommended for the determination of calcium and magnesium at percentage level for such matrices. Surprising, there is no comment or discussion by the authors in their manuscript on complexometric titration methods. There are contradictory and highly misleading statements.","PeriodicalId":15534,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Chromatography & Separation Techniques","volume":"15 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74366360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is closely relevant in scientific studies, which provides a powerful identification of certain components that will be effective for curing specific diseases. Especially important, LC methods can assist us for isolation and purification of therapeutic drugs that benefit for the development of medical industry. As the development of liquid chromatography, the single effective component within a drug can be separated and purified under extreme purity requirements from a biological system with great complexity and abundance. However, improvement of LC methods is still urgently needed for better application of this method to benefit our lives.","PeriodicalId":15534,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Chromatography & Separation Techniques","volume":"45 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72923680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The manuscript published on benefication products is lacking in any innovation, originality or novelty over the earlier published paper titled “Determination of Rare earth elements in different geological matrices by ICP-AES after solid phase micro extraction on activated charcoal” by Murty, Mohanta and Radhamani published in the journal, Atomic Spectroscopy. There is a repetition of the “The unique feature of the method’ in the above cited manuscript and also in his earlier publication titled “A single stage simultaneous separation and preconcentration of rare earth elements on activated carbon for its determination by ICP-OES after wet ashing–application to soil samples by Chakrapani, Mahanta, Hanuman, Srivastava published in the journal “Exploration and Research for Atomic Minerals on bromoheavies. Moreover, there are contradictory and misleading statements /findings on the role of AC as adsorbent, amount of AC and desorption of REEs from AC in the published papers by Chakrapani et al. [1] and other authors from AMD laboratories. The findings have previously published elsewhere without proper cross referencing /justification in manuscripts. The desorption of REEs from AC simply by treating AC with 3.2 M HNO3 is the best analytical protocol, thus avoiding the tedious and time consuming operation of ashing AC. Moreover, regenerated AC can be re-used for further experiments. Dry-ashing of the charcoal pellet is the alternate option and can be completed in 1 hr. Wet-ashing of charcoal pellet with HNO3 and HClO4 involves toxic acids fuming, is a health hazard and may lead to serious explosions. Separation of rare earth metals through biosorption using low cost biomaterials or modified AC will continue to remain a greatest challenge.","PeriodicalId":15534,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Chromatography & Separation Techniques","volume":"4 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76027919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Equivalent to USP G-42 GC stationary phase, DB-35 ms capillary column and ECD detector was selected on the basis of physical and structural characteristics of atrazine. Temperature programming of 20 minutes with 0.8 mL/min optimized gas flow gave maximum number of the theoretical plates (N=104) and high resolution (Rs~2.1 min) with LOD and LOQ values of 0.001 μg/L and 0.1 μg/L respectively. LOQ achieved by the present method is almost below the maximum residue levels recommended by the European legislation. Satisfactory spiked recoveries of the atrazine were obtained from agricultural produces ranging from 82.2 to 97.8% with relative standard deviations below 3.8%. The minimum consumption of solvent (5 mL ethyl acetate) in SPE for residual workup in 5 minutes, with subsequent 20 minutes GC analysis makes the proposed method simple and fast having promise as an excellent economical alternative for the routine analysis of atrazine in environmental samples.","PeriodicalId":15534,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Chromatography & Separation Techniques","volume":"50 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84898354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample was dissolved in water and directly injected to high performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry to quantify NDELA. The eluent was transferred to mass spectrometer and ionized by heated electrospray positive ionization. The analyte was quantified in parts per billion level by using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. The MRM transition was m/z 135.0 to 74.1 and confirmed by m/z 104.0. To avoid ion suppression and better sensitivity for quantification, cation exchange column was used. A linearity coefficient of R2 >0.995 was observed in calibration over a wide range of concentration 1 ppb to 10 ppb of NDELA. The method was validated by linearity, accuracy and precision studies. The results show that recoveries were in between 97% to 106%.","PeriodicalId":15534,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Chromatography & Separation Techniques","volume":"9 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83281444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among these molecules are the growth hormone releasing peptides (GHRPs). These substances are highly sought by cheating athletes because of their ergogenic effects. Thus, GHRPs are listed in the World Antidoping Agency Prohibited List and several methods have been developed for their detection in urine samples. Serum is another useful matrix frequently used for anti-doping control. An experimental adaptation of a competitive methodology for GHRPs wide-group detection, previously developed for urine, is reported here using a serum matrix instead. The modifications have been mainly addressed the need to remove endogenous ghrelin (always present in serum) to avoid interference in the competitive binding assay. The modified test was first evaluated using serum spiked with different pure GHRPs (i.e., GHRP-2, GHRP-6 and Hexarelin), then using serum samples from pilot studies in which healthy subjects were treated intravenously with GHRP-2 and intranasally with GHRP-2 and GHRP-6. The results showed the reliability of the modified methodology for the detection of GHRPs in a serum matrix.","PeriodicalId":15534,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Chromatography & Separation Techniques","volume":"79 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86565394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
