In this paper, we focus on the outsourcing decision-making strategy of collecting used-product for remanufacturing. Based on the review of large volume of literature, we develop three models for different collecting channel structurs (namely collected by the manufacturer, by the retailer, and by the third-party respectively). Moreover, this paper presents a quantitative methodology for manufacturer to make outsourcing decision, which aims at maximizing the manufacturer's profit. The technologies used in existing supply chains generally aim at improving production and logistical operations by increasing their efficiencies and by linking and integrating collaboration between individual supply chain partners. This paper focuses on service supply chains and argues that despite their increasing importance, current information and communication technologies (ICTs) fail to fully support the specific needs of service co-production. The paper reviews current technology use from a service perspective and concludes that even the most advanced technologies that have huge potential to support services (such as RFID) remain product-oriented. In particular, we formulate a mathematical model that embeds labour regulations, trade union agreements and operational customs in terms of hard and soft constraints. Soft constraints and costs are treated in a multi-objective fashion by a preference modeling module exploiting the Analytic Hierarchy Process. We compare two different exact optimization methods to solve this kind of problems, one based on general purpose integer linear programming solvers and the other based on Lagrangean relaxation and branch-and-bound. We also present a GRASP heuristic and we show how it can be used in combination with the general-purpose solver. Experimental results are presented on instances adapted from the O.R. Factor analysis is applied to identify the latent constructs in the subjects being offered at a business school.
