Besides voice, a new range of services such as multimedia, high-speed-data, etc. are being offered for delivery over wireless networks. Mobility will be seamless, realizing the concept of persons' being in contact anywhere, at anytime. There are some fundamental aspects such as limited spectrum, propagation effects, and unknown and time varying access will result in a profound impact on the choice of technologies to provide future mobile communications. So that the challenges to the technologies imposed by the radio spectrum limitations, radio channel propagation induced distortions, are seriously concerned by manufactures, operators, and regulators. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is engaged in development of global standards for wireless communications, and is referred to as International Mobile Telecommunications 2000 (IMT-2000). Wireless ATM (WATM) is expected to provide significantly high bit-rate services to meet the demand for handing multimedia information, such as high definition still pictures, moving pictures, and large files. In addition, WATM is required to provide a variety of services like CBR, VER, ABR, and UBR, and flexible connection, including symmetric/asymmetric bandwidth to support multimedia services. This article gives an overview of the frequency considerations of IMT-2000. It is very important in order to effectively use the limited spectrum resource and in selecting suitable third generation wireless technologies.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. It is expected that not only the interference between inter-systems by EMI radiation from the equipment but also the interference inside the equipment causes the degradation of system reliability. The equipment cabinet constructed of conductive materials has self-resonance frequency. When electromagnetic excitation occurs inside the cabinet by EMI radiation from inner circuits, the strong electromagnetic field is generated inside the cabinet at the self-resonance frequency, makes EMI radiation from cabinet increase and degrades the immunity of the inner circuit. To suppress the radiation from the cabinet and interface cable by suppressing Q of the self-resonance and to enhance immunity are requested. The authors propose to use hybrid magnetic materials which contain magnetic material and dielectric material in order to suppress the value of Q and verify the effect.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. The switching of currents in a system of conductors is especially crucial because a transient wave is stimulated in the nonconducting environment which can be responsible for the default of electronic systems. The total energy which is radiated by the transient wave can be calculated by integrating the Poynting vector over an appropriate closed surface and over the time interval between the switching moment and infinity. The calculation of the total energy radiated by a switching process can be simplified by applying the principle of conservation of energy. As a consequence only the energy which is dissipated in the conducting space during the transient current distribution after the moment of switching has to be calculated. The applicability is shown for two examples. In the first one a permeable and conducting hollow sphere is exposed to the transient field of a current of arbitrary time dependence flowing in a loop of arbitrary shape. In the second, a continuous current flowing in a homogeneous two wire loop in parallel with a solid conductor of rectangular cross section is switched off. At the moment of switching a part of the energy of the nonconducting space is transferred by a guided wave. The remaining energy can be calculated from the current sheet which is excited on the conductor's surface at the moment of switching. This part of the energy is dissipated in the material during the following transient current distribution.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Due to the broad band nature of the device, it is well suited for radiated emissions and immunity testing, compliant with the standards. In order to perform compliance measurements, the corresponding antenna factors have to be determined. Correlation to OATS measurements must be established. The EUROTEM devices are scaleable and can be built in different sizes. The range of test objects starts at printed circuit boards all the way up to two metre high racks. For large test objects, the arrangement can be fitted into an existing fully absorber-lined room. This arrangement is called EUROTEM-Antenna. By this retrofit, the conventional antenna mast and the typical EMC antennas are substituted with the EUROTEM antenna leading to savings in driving power and consequently in considerable cost savings for the amplifier. In contrast to the 10 year old GTEM technology, the EUROTEM is equipped with polarisation switching. The test object will be put on a turntable in the same manner as in any open area test site or absorber chamber. There is no rotation through the three spatial axes which is required using a GTEM cell and the corresponding manipulator. The EUROTEM is superior to the conventional technology by showing better field quality, better suppression of the non-TEM field components and in particular the better cost efficiency factor.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
