The inputs and outputs have been specified using intermediation approach. The inputs used are sum of deposits and borrowings, number of employees and fixed assets. Investments, advances and other income are taken as outputs. Prices of inputs have also been used to evaluate allocative and cost efficiency. The findings of the study indicate that new private banks had better average overall technical efficiency, average pure technical efficiency, average scale efficiency and average cost efficiency. IDFC bank was the only bank efficient in all the types of efficiencies. Further, the negative effect of non-performing assets was also seen on the performance and efficiency of new and old private banks.","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122781907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aims to identify how oil price volatility affects the real exchange rate in India from 1st July 2009 to 2nd January 2020. For short-run and long-run analysis, various econometric methods have been applied, including Granger Causality, ARDL Bound test, FEVD, and IRF. The study divided the entire sample into sub-samples based on Breakpoint analysis and then performed the ARDL Bound testing procedure in each sub-sample. Causality results revealed that most samples exhibited strong unidirectional causality from oil prices to exchange rates. However, the long-run and short-run results from the ARDL model failed to detect any cointegration among the underlying variables for the entire sample. The calculated F-statistics is 4.35, which is less than the lower and upper critical bound values provided by Pesaran, Shin, and Smith (2001). The GIRF has been used to calculate the dynamic marginal effect of a one-standard-deviation shock in oil prices on the current and future values of the Rupee-Dollar exchange rate. The exchange rate fell in the first three samples due to one standard deviation shock in oil prices. However, the contribution of oil prices to the exchange rate is positive in the fourth sample period.","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122445666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The motivation behind this study is that there is ambiguous evidence across countries on FDI and economic growth. However, there have been many studies conducted across countries but there is a scanty literature available on FDI and economic growth in India. The relation between FDI and economic growth is vague. Therefore, this study is an addition to all previous studies, try to posit the relationship between economic growth and FDI. Energy consumption has been taken as a control variable into consideration. The study has covered time-series data from 1990 to 2019. The ARDL bound test approach has been employed to confirm the cointegration among the variables. The bound test confirmed the existence of a long-run relationship between FDI and economic growth. The error-correction term negative sign indicates that there is a divergence between dependant and independent variables in the short-run. The empirical results state that FDI has a significant impact on economic growth","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123651158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The investments includes quarterly reports of corporate debt securities, government bond securities, mutual funds’ investments, money market instruments, private equity funds and real estate securities from 2004 – 2020, and was sourced from the statistics database of the National Pension Commission, the Central Bank of Nigeria and the World data bank. The statistical measures used to analyze the data are the descriptive test, Unit root test, Co-integration test, Vector error correction, Causality and Impulse response function. The outcome of the analysis show that the variables were stationary after first differences were taken; and were also co-integrated at 2 lags indicating that both short and long run equilibrium relationship exist among the variables. From the vector error correction model, previous years’ deviations from long run equilibrium had a 0.09% speed of adjustment; leading to a short run equilibrium. The Causality test reveal that changes in government bond securities lead to changes in real estate securities and changes in money market investments leads to changes in government bond securities. In addition, the impulse response demonstrates that a shock to the system produces more negative responses than positive ones. The study thus recommends that the pension industry should vigorously create more awareness on the importance of employee pension plan; develop more e-channels to help rake in investible funds as well as develop more innovative products to support diversification of pension fund in different assets classes among others.","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134232080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, as a result of globalization, a country's economic development is no longer completely reliant on its own resources. The foreign direct investment (FDI) made by multinational corporations improves the quality of life for locals by creating employment for them and raising their level of living. FDI may have both positive and negative effects on the expansion of the economy, depending on the factors. South Asia's leading liberal economy is Pakistan. Pakistan permits 100% foreign ownership in its secondary industry due to its open economy and fast-paced private sector. Pakistan's tertiary sector has seen a sharp growth in FDI inflows when compared to other economic sectors. Pakistan's primary sector of the economy is characterised, like other emerging countries, by poor productivity, inefficient labour, energy deficits, and less incentives. However, it seems that the incentives and other variables have only had a modest impact on Pakistan's FDI levels in recent years. The economic development of Pakistan is negatively impacted by foreign direct investment. FDI has a significant influence on Pakistan's short- and long-term economic development.","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128867249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data collection technique uses simple random sampling through Google Forms in the form of a questionnaire. This study has a total sample of 164 respondents with the criteria of MSME owners. The data processing method in this study is to use smartPLS with the aim of testing the hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that performance expectations, hedonic motivation, and social influence have a positive and significant effect on the intention to use accounting software while accounting knowledge cannot moderately and negatively influence the UTAUT 2 model on interest in using accounting software. The results of this study recommend that to increase interest in using accounting software for MSMEs, it is necessary to socialize the meaning of accounting and procedures for using accounting software for MSMEs in order to improve the management of financial reports.","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124628786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study seeks to investigate the effect of government consumptions on performance of annual capital expenditure in Nigeria. Government consumptions was proxied by Administration, Economic services, Social and Community services, and Transfers’ consumptions while performance of annual capital expenditure was proxied by aggregate annual capital expenditure. The study employed ex- post facto research design, and used descriptive statistic and ordinary least square regression techniques to analyze the data. Secondary data used were sourced from the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of Accountant-General of the Federation, over a period of forty-one years (1981-2021). The data collected were analyzed using Johansen Co- integration test and vector error correction model (VECM). The findings revealed that besides administrative consumption, other explanatory variables economic service consumption, social and community services consumption, and transfers’ consumption had positive and significant effect on the performance of annual capital expenditure. The study concluded that changes in the performance of annual capital expenditure are explained by changes in government consumptions. The study suggested, amongst others; that Government should put in place mechanisms, such as adequate internal control system; to reduce wastages in administrative consumption.","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122675656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The combustible renewables and wastes consumption in Central Asia are based on the long run and short run relationship between economic development with the Error Correction Model (ECM) based Panel Cointegration tests and Panel Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) Granger causality test tried to explain using the causality test, spanning the period 1990 to 2020. An empirical analysis uses the Im, Pesaran, and Shin (CIPS) Panel Unit Root test and Westerlund ECM to test the basics of the data unit based on this information. The Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) specification was based on the results of the Lag-order selection criteria, and the stability of the PVAR model was checked through the observation of the Hausman test and Eigenvalue stability condition. It performs tests to verify the existence of the long run relationships among the variables and examines short and long run causal relationships. It finds that increased combustible renewables and waste consumption use is the main cause of increased economic growth.","PeriodicalId":153790,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Economics and Finance","volume":"3 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133041964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
