Automated service composition reasoning techniques can be leveraged to compose cyber and physical services in a timely way. However, the modeling of the physical services poses some challenges. In this paper, we present novel models for the specification of the physical services and the state of the world to facilitate real-time service composition of cyber physical systems (CPS).","PeriodicalId":153118,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122942348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How to build cloud platform for traditional software, and how to deliver cloud service to users are central research fields which will have a huge impact. In recent years, the development of microservice and container technology make software paradigm evolve towards Cloudware in cloud environment. Cloudware, which is based on service and supported by cloud platform, is an important method to cloudalize traditional software. It is also a significant way for software development, deployment, maintenance and usage in future cloud environment. Furthermore, it creates a completely new thought for software in cloud platform. In this paper, we proposed a new Cloudware PaaS platform based on microservice architecture and light weighted container technology. We can directly deploy traditional software which provides services to users by browser in this platform without any modification. By utilizing the microservice architecture, this platform has the characteristics of scalability, auto-deployment, disaster recovery and elastic configuration.","PeriodicalId":153118,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128891384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contemporary society, computing, due to its great power, has been widely used to help people to understand and facilitate human creativity. However, most of them are still focusing on the virtualisations of tools, e.g., apps like Magic Piano and systems like MindGenius. As the relationships between creativity and computing have changed dramatically over time, more and more novel concepts, such as Creative Computing, start to play an increasingly important role in human creativity enhancement. The key concern of Creative Computing is how to improve human creativity through computing in creative ways. Due to its unique features, a specific supporting structure can be very helpful for the development of Creative Computing. Therefore, a framework, as a large-scale design of architecture, may be a good way to go. Due to the growth of \"computing intelligence\", there have been an enormous number of promising technologies to use, such as Semantic Web. Based on the relationships between data, the technologies of Semantic Web may be able to add creative \"logics\" into computing. Hence, in this paper, an approach to constructing a general framework for Creative Computing based on Semantic Web technologies will be discussed.","PeriodicalId":153118,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130555470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a large scale of patterns may be updated frequently in a multi-tenant cloud, which poses new challenges to avoid attacks while updating new patterns. This paper presents an agile approach named Eagle for \"on-the-fly\" updating automaton in cloud security services. The approach provides three algorithms on AC and SBOM, adding, deleting and updating operation, to update state and links of automaton in high-speed online cloud traffic. Theoretical analysis shows that Eagle lowers the computational complexity of updating patterns from O (n2) to O (n). The effectiveness of this agile approach is verified when applied to a real cloud gateway. It turns out that 68% - 89% of the time can be saved and the throughput of cloud traffic filtering proves no reduction during and after the pattern update.","PeriodicalId":153118,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE)","volume":"432 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129743996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, with the increase of data volume, together with the heterogeneity of workloads and resources, and the dynamic nature of massive user requests, the uncertainties and complexity of resource management and service provisioning increase dramatically, often resulting in poor resource utilization, vulnerable system dependability, and user-perceived performance degradations. In this paper we report our latest understanding of the current and future challenges in this particular area, and discuss both existing and potential solutions to the problems, especially those concerned with system efficiency, scalability and dependability. We first introduce a data-driven analysis methodology for characterizing the resource and workload patterns and tracing performance bottlenecks in a massive-scale distributed computing environment. We then examine and analyze several fundamental challenges and the solutions we are developing to tackle them, including for example incremental but decentralized resource scheduling, incremental messaging communication, rapid system failover, and request handling parallelism. We integrate these solutions with our data analysis methodology in order to establish an engineering approach that facilitates the optimization, tuning and verification of massive-scale distributed systems. We aim to develop and offer innovative methods and mechanisms for future computing platforms that will provide strong support for new big data and IoE (Internet of Everything) applications.","PeriodicalId":153118,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131418983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This data holds information regarding several activities and incidents. Video analytics systems have been introduced to extract valuable information from this data. However, most of these systems are expensive, require human supervision and are time consuming. The probability of extracting inaccurate information is also high due to human involvement. We have addressed these challenges by proposing a cloud based high performance video analytics platform. This platform attempts to minimize human intervention, reduce computation time and enables the processing of a large number of video streams. It achieves high performance by optimizing the occupancy of GPU resources in cloud and minimizing the data transfer by concurrently processing a large number of video streams. The proposed video processing platform is evaluated in three stages. The first evaluation was performed at the cloud level in order to evaluate the scalability of the platform. This evaluation includes fetching and distributing video streams and efficiently utilizing available resources within the cloud. The second valuation was performed at the individual cloud nodes. This evaluation includes measuring the occupancy level, effect of data transfer and the extent of concurrency achieved at each node. The third evaluation was performed at the frame level in order to determine the performance of object recognition algorithms. To measure this, compute intensive tasks of the Local Binary Pattern (LBP) algorithm have been ported on to the GPU resources. The platform proved to be very scalable with high throughput and performance when tested on a large number of video streams with increasing number of nodes.","PeriodicalId":153118,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE)","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121892922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quality of graph partitioning plays a key role in the performance of distributed algorithms, in respect of workload balance and communication cost. However, few of existing graph partitioning algorithms are capable of partitioning large graphs on distributed memory systems. In this paper, we propose a distributed balanced graph partitioning algorithm that is suitable for general distributed graph computation frameworks, called BS (Bulk Swap), which is based on a scatter-gather local search scheme and the simulated annealing technique. BS takes the advantage of the BSP graph computation model which can process bulk data efficiently. Experimental analysis shows BS can produce good partitions with high efficiency on both real-world and synthetic graphs.","PeriodicalId":153118,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122023006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
