At present, many scheduling algorithms mainly focus on optimizing system performance, whereas whether users are satisfied with the resource allocation is seldom considered. This paper presents a task scheduling algorithm based on user's satisfaction, proposing a suitable resource allocation method according to different users' need, thus improving users' satisfaction with the cloud resources for which they pay. Finally, the scheduling algorithm is implemented and simulated on the CloudSim. The result demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":152234,"journal":{"name":"2013 Fourth International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129568074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, CDNs have been widely deployed by ISPs (Internet service providers), content providers and other third parties, such as Akamai. And CCN (content centric networking) as a new Internet architecture, all the network data will be looked as content and routed via its name. Considering Akamai has more than 110,000 servers all over the world, we hope to deploy a comparable cluster system of CCN to evaluate its performance in this paper. So it's necessary to simplify the configuration and deployment. For this purpose, we use virtualization technology, an open source CCNx prototype including Mini-CCNx. After then we realize the topology structure that auto-configured by scripts. Some experiments are conducted to verify the cluster system feasibility. In this paper, a hierarchical large-scale deployment method is presented, which greatly reduces the time to build and deploy test bed.","PeriodicalId":152234,"journal":{"name":"2013 Fourth International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125390940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design goals of the proposed scheme include: (1) confidentiality of health data, (2) integrity of health data, (3) authenticity of health data, (4) patient-centric fine-grained access control, and (5) revocation of access control. To achieve these goals, we primarily utilize techniques such as Conditional Proxy Re-Encryption, the Advanced Encryption Standard, and the RSA cryptosystem. In our proposed scheme, patients can easily authorize access privileges for their PHR data for various users. Furthermore, this scheme also provides flexible key management and an efficient encryption mechanism.","PeriodicalId":152234,"journal":{"name":"2013 Fourth International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133901667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data compression can mitigate these challenges by reducing the size of the data to be stored or transferred. However, data compression has to achieve a good balance between compression ratios and throughput, before it can be employed in the high-end computing environments. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a versatile compression method for floating-point data. Firstly, it can achieve much better compression ratios than existing general purpose compression methods with promising throughputs. Secondly, it supports asymmetric decompression: losslessly compressed data can be decompressed lossily, thus facilitating data analysis in different precision requirements. Thirdly, it can leverage existing different kinds of general purpose compressors (zlib, lz4, for instance), and provide more flexible trade-offs between compression ratios and throughputs. Evaluations demonstrate that our compressor can achieve comparable compression ratios with the best compressors, while the compression and decompression throughputs can be 10 times higher than them. The single thread compression throughputs can be 135 MB/s, and the decompression throughputs can be 194 MB/s.","PeriodicalId":152234,"journal":{"name":"2013 Fourth International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129392314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a novel scheme to trade off the energy saving, QoS satisfaction, and resource utilization for the radio resource scheduling of downlink traffic in LTE. The proposed scheme takes not only the QoS requirements into consideration but also the channel conditions of user equipment (UE) for better spectrum efficiency. Furthermore, under the QoS constraint, the proposed scheme adopts the burst scheduling concept with respect to the state transition of energy consumption and properly adjusts the inactivity timer to achieve better energy utilization. In order to examine the performance of the proposed scheme, two different traffic models, http and video streaming services, were adopted for exhaustive simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has great achievement in energy saving when compared to the traditional scheme.","PeriodicalId":152234,"journal":{"name":"2013 Fourth International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing","volume":"30 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114126775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different players, such as power generation, transmission, and distribution, along with the value chain must now cooperate and interact with each other by shared interfaces or eventually a customized network for secure and reliable delivery of energy. While smart grids are focusing on the informationization and intellectualization of the existing power grid, the new concept of an energy internet is proposed as an internet-style solution for energy issues by integrating information and power flows bi-directionally, which can be considered as the version 2.0 of smart grids. Some key features of an energy internet compared with conventional energy grid such as openness and peer-to-peer are introduced. Architecture of an energy internet is proposed in details, including energy storage, switches and routers. The definition of an energy internet call for a much greater degree of interactive flexibility for efficient energy management than the present system is designed to handle.","PeriodicalId":152234,"journal":{"name":"2013 Fourth International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing","volume":"28 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131176923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Power quality issues are becoming more essential for power companies. Existing power quality standards are described by stable or transient states of current and voltage, from a perspective of power supply. In practice, it is up to customers' sensitivity and actual experiences for evaluation of power quality. In this work, power experience is proposed as a composite criterion of both existing power quality standard and related customers' information. From a perspective of customers' experience, the concept, features, and standards are proposed for power quality of experience. A case study from Shenzhen Power Supply Company is given, demonstrating that power quality of experience is more feasible in actual work for power quality evaluation.","PeriodicalId":152234,"journal":{"name":"2013 Fourth International Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123706596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
