However, oxidation temperatures around 1100°C lead to the formation of porous ceramic materials. To utilize this porosity intentionally for foam production, a new approach based on synergetic effect of alloying elements, DIMOX and semisolid (rheocsting) processing is developed. A semisolid reaction, rheocasting is introduced to control porosity shape and size. Aluminum alloy 6xxx (automobile scrap pistons) is recycled for this objective and DIMOX at 1100°C for 20 min, then rheocasting, at 750°C for 20 minutes. The effect of addition (2%) of each a-Fe powder, Mg powder, Boric acid powder, and Si powder established for the objective of a hybrid structural metal matrix composite in bulk foam matrix. The kinetic of formation of hybrid metal matrix foam composite is introduced. Microstructural and mechanical characterization established for high performance Aluminum foam hybrid composite materials.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133344238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By formulating filter design as a multi-objective optimization problem and approaching it with an unbiased metaheuristic search algorithm, we have established relationships between filter delay and other filter objectives. These relationships are presented as non-inferior surfaces for different filter orders and design approaches. We present possible designs that are realizable with (1) classical IIR design constructions, and (2) unconstrained global search for filter orders between 2 and 5. Elliptical (Cauer) filters are found as to have the highest potential for low group delay among the classical constructions. However, as one might expect, unconstrained IIR search discovers more optimal filters, but is limited to filter orders of ~5. Currently, there exists no established method that can construct similar IIR filters with a group delay below n/2, where n is the given filter order. Finally, we present some unconstrained filter examples that we claim are nearly optimal.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126166595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Optical microscopy and SEM investigation have shown a clear precipitation as a result of the aging process. The EDX analysis supports the hypothesis of the formation of titanium and molybdenum rich precipitates at the grain boundaries after aging. The mechanical properties of the steel alloys were tested at room temperature as well as at elevated temperatures. High values of mechanical properties were obtained at room temperature. Nevertheless, the mechanical properties of the steel alloys dropped severely at elevated temperatures due to the austenite reversion phenomenon. This may also explain the high ductility in the material at elevated temperatures resulting in the high values of elongation which exceeded 50% in some samples and the significant drop in the values of the modulus of elasticity. The increase in the titanium mass percentage caused an increase in the value of hardness; however, it resulted in the embrittlement of the material and lowering the values of impact toughness. The corrosion behaviour of the alloys was tested in 3.5% NaCl. The solution treated samples have shown a more passive behavior than the aged samples did; however, the aging process has resulted in a significant enhancement of the corrosion resistances of the alloys.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130109861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among recent techniques to obtain ultrafine ferrite, dynamic strain induced transformation (DSIT) is used. This type of treatment is sensitive to steel composition, deformation temperature, the prior austenite grain size, strain and cooling rate. This work is aiming to improve the mechanical properties of steels using ferrite grain refining through trials on industrial scale using a compact strip production plant (CSP) with hot strip mill (HSM) containing six stands F1-F6 in EZDK Steel Company. The chemical composition of the trials was C (~0.046), Si (0.073) Mn (0.50) and Ti (0.008). The effect of final deformation temperature of 750, 775, 800 and 815°C on the microstructure and mechanical properties was studied. In addition the effect of strain rate variation at the final two rolling stands was correlated with the ferrite refining mechanisms. The ferrite grain size attained after refining varies from 10 μm to be 6 μm. Yield and tensile strength increased slightly through changing deformation temperature, with the advantage of keeping almost the original high ductility. Toughness of the processed steel increased with ferrite grain refining.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127586815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The morphological evolutions such as globular/cellular to dendritic or columnar-to-equiaxed transition were generally studied. Correspondingly, some empirical models were introduced. Nevertheless, no sufficient attention was paid to incorporation of such models together with macroscopic phenomena. A 5-phase mixed columnar-equiaxed solidification model recently proposed by the current authors was used to predict the macrostructure formation. However previous results showed that the initial melt conditions can influence the predicted structure particularly at low pouring temperature. In the current work, the impact of mold filling conditions on the final solidification structure is numerically verified in two stages: during pouring using 3-phase globular-equiaxed model; and after filling using the 5-phase mixed columnar-equiaxed model. The calculated results are compared to the as-cast structures obtained from experiments. The results demonstrated the significance of the `big bang' nucleation and the `premature' solidification occurred during pouring at low melt superheat on the as-cast structure.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"09 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124444310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A conventional QOSTBC scheme can achieve the full rate, but at the cost of decoding complexity and diversity gain. These disadvantages of the conventional QO-STBC scheme are mainly a result of interference terms in the detection matrix. In this paper, the suggested QOSTBC scheme which eliminates interference terms is used to obtain linear detection. The proposed method achieves a great reduction in decoding complexity with respect to the conventional QO-STBC scheme, also a simplified zero forcing algorithms is compared to the suggested linear detection scheme.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124695641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They offer a large potential for light-weight structures with high stiffness and high mechanical properties, energy absorption, and thermal management. Their extraordinary property combinations make them interesting for applications where more than one function can be met. Steel foam produced by slip reaction foam sintering process (SRFS) had a chemical composition of 1%C, 1.3 %Mn, 0.5% Si and 0.5 % Cr is subjected to many different heat treatment and corrosion conditions. In the presented work, the effect of different heat treatment conditions was applied to investigate its effect on the mechanical behavior of produced steel foam. Austenizing at 800, 850 and 900 degree Celsius for one hour was applied and tempering at 400, 450 and 500 for one hour respectively was examined. Corrosion characterization for the samples was carried out by using the salt spray test; samples were subjected to marine \"corrosive\" atmosphere for 54 hours at 40 degrees Celsius and by using the autoclave (high temperature/high pressure) samples were subjected to steam of distilled water at high pressure and high temperature reached 170 degrees Celsius for 96 hours. Compression test was carried out to test and evaluate the mechanical properties for the samples, before and after corrosion tests also before and after heat treatment process. The results showed that corrosion can negatively affects the mechanical properties of the steel foam, as in the compression test the samples which was not subjected to any of the corrosive atmosphere showed much better results than the samples which was tested in the salt spray or the autoclave test. Not only but also heat treatment process showed a great influence on the mechanical behavior of steel foam, as using different heat treatment cycle, better compression stress could be achieved.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"217 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122459457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The majority of previous research work has tackled the facility layout problem in terms of one objective, and few researches have considered Multi-Objective Facility Layout Problem. This paper develops and presents Genetic Algorithm model for solving Multi-Objective Facility Layout Problem. It combines quantitative and qualitative objectives into single objective function. The proposed model solves single and multi-objective facility layout problems. For single-objective facility layout, the results reveal that the proposed algorithm is capable of obtaining the best known published solutions for number of facilities up to 24. Furthermore it achieves best known material handling cost for 24 departments arranged in 30 locations. For multi-objective facility layout, the results reveal that the proposed algorithm is capable of obtaining solutions, which deviate between 0 and 15% maximum from its respective single objective best solution.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125471198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maximum utilization of CMMs requires the development of an automated inspection planning system. A computer-aided inspection planning (CAIP) system leads to minimization of the total time needed for inspection process and hence the overall cost of the final product. This work introduces a computer aided inspection system that reads a B-rep solid model in SAT format as an input and produces the final CMM program in DMIS format. The system includes the following: rule-based feature recognition module that identifies and extracts the necessary inspection features from the solid model, sampling strategy module to determine the number and the location of the needed measuring points on each inspection feature, accessibility analysis module to determine the number of probe orientations that can reach the measured points without collision, finally, a clustering module to minimize the total number of probe orientations need to fully inspect the entire part. All algorithms are developed using ACIS geometric kernel and object oriented programming using C++. The results are verified on CMM.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"134 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133720228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These ground stations may be under official contract to receive the data from the satellite for particular period of time. The problem with the schemes is if any ground station leaks the key information to the other ground station whose official contract is expired the encryption schemes fails. Further if the satellite service provider leaks the key information to the intruder, the symmetric key schemes fails. This paper solves the key management problem of encryption scheme in remote sensing satellite. The solution is a new key management protocol uses both traditional security verification methods and new orbital parameter verification method.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133407991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
