Applying this scheme depends on generating control signals from the next stage so it cannot be applied on the output stage. In this paper Vt cancellation is applied for the output stage of modified Pelliconi pump. This is done by adding an extra circuit that establishes the controlling signals necessary for the auxiliary circuit of the output stage. This modification in the output stage leads to increasing the whole pump power efficiency and voltage gain. Also the pump output equivalent resistance is improved. The proposed charge pump is more suitable for energy harvesting applications due to its ability to give more gain at low voltage levels.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125760738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this cooperative multirobot system, individual actions of the robots are controlled by the Belief-Desire-Intention model to endow the robots with the know-how needed to execute these actions deliberately. The cooperative behaviors between the heterogeneous robots are governed by the Team-Log theory to endow all the robots in the team with the know-how-to-cooperate and determine the team member's commitments to each other despite their different types, properties and goals. The proposed approach is tested for validity with the real life problem of humanitarian demining, as it requires cooperation between different robots to scan and clear a minefield from all the landmines.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125794206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The question now is; how mankind would be able to survive in a world where conventional energy sources are becoming scarcer. As buildings is one of the most energy consuming sectors on earth, so if energy efficient buildings could be built and supplied with sustainable energy sources, it would be a real positive contribution towards confronting this challenge in a sustainable way. Hence, energy is one of the major categories that almost all the Green Building Rating Systems all over the world are developed to measure and conserve. This paper presents quantitative researches that have been conducted to develop tailor-made, scientifically based Energy Credits that could be considered as scientific guidelines towards developing and enhancing the Energy Category of the Egyptian Green Building Rating System. The data was collected through a desk study and online questionnaires. The results show the energy credits that should be considered as mandatory within the Egyptian Green Building Rating System and indicate the other credits that should be taken into account and propose weights of such energy credits.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122831031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present study, a cooled compact pressing of material powders followed by hot extrusion techniques were used. Varies weight percentages of graphite flakes were mixed with Al powder using a mechanical mixing stirrer. The effects of graphite content and SiC formation on microstructures and wear properties of composites were investigated. The SiC particles are formed by in-situ reaction at temperatures above 252°C. SiC particles have greatly improved the wear and tensile properties of fabricated composites. The results also showed the SiC particles were refined (<; 1μm) and uniformly distributed in the matrices as a result of hot extrusions and little pores were found in the composites. This significantly improves mechanical and wear properties.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"124 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127013536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an efficient technique for automatic ear detection from side face images. The proposed technique detects human's ear without any training or assumption of prior knowledge about the input image, and it does not need any human intervention so it can be used successfully in a fully automated ear recognition system. Two new features have been proposed for ear detection: the first represents elongation and is expressed by the ratio between the boundary's width and height. The second describes compactness and is measured by the ratio between the number of pixels composing the boundary's area and the number of pixels composing its perimeter. Each ratio should exceed a certain threshold for human's ear. Moreover, the proposed approach relies on the fact that the ear is a semi rounded boundary which contains other smaller semi rounded boundaries. The proposed technique uses the roundness as another feature. In human's ear, roundness falls within a certain range. Using these three features better detection performance is achieved and less time was needed. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126518172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, hypoid gears generally have greater tolerance to shock loading and can frequently be used at higher single stage ratios than spiral bevel gears. The objective of the present work is to develop a computer aided design (CAD) package for optimizing the design of hypoid gears. The CAD program calculates the gear set geometrical and strength performance variables such as the bending and contact safety factors. Strength calculations are based on ANSI/AGMA 2003-B97 standards. The CAD package allows the designer to select and change the design variables to satisfy any applied constraints. A genetic based optimization module manipulates the CAD package in a manner similar to the way that can be done by the designer but in an iterative and systematic way. The optimization module changes the design variables and compares the results to minimize the objective function subject to specified constraints. A minimum pinion volume objective function has been chosen in the present work. The main constraints are to equate the working bending and contact stresses to their respective allowable stresses. This would further make the best utilization of material and indirectly minimizes the volume. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the analysis procedure and the effectiveness of the optimization module. The results showed that the optimization procedure reduced the volume of a gear designed according to ANSI/AGMA 2003-B97 to 54% of its original volume. Further analysis was performed to study the effect of the design variables and the input parameters on the objective function.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122721097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each video frame is decomposed into sub-images using 3 level discrete wavelet transform then the Principle Component Analysis (PCA) transformation is applied for some selected blocks. The selection of the blocks depends on calculating the entropy of each block then the maximum entropy blocks were selected. The watermark is embedded into the maximum coefficient of the PCA block. The proposed scheme is tested using a number of video sequences. Experimental results show high imperceptibility and high robustness against several attacks. However, delamination is a major limitation of lamellar composite structure, an emerging methodology introduced with micro laminated and/or delocalized nano particulate interphase. Mitigation of crack as well as toughening mechanisms is an objective. Parametric study (temperature, pressure and holding time) established for the control of interface/interphase kinetics. Hot uniaxial pressing parameters as well as alloying elements have a dominant effect on the kinetic of interface/interphase formation. Lamellar metal matrix composites introduced with new micro laminated composite interphase. Diffusion along with alloy segregation induced the formation of localized metal flow along with the interface as well as, low melting depressant (LMD) Zn. However, LMD induced the localized interphase structure enriched with Al or Mg, Alloy segregation tends to reach eutectic point and induce liquid phase. The formation of localized eutectic liquid tends to form either nano composite structure or micro laminated composite in a solid state processing. Microstructural characterization, mechanical characterization is also established via optical microscopy scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and tensile testing. Chemical and mechanical bonding via inter diffusion processing with LMD are dominant for interphase kinetics. Mechanical characterization with interfacial shear strength is also introduced with hardness testing. HIPing processing is successfully applied on 6082 Al-alloy and AZ31 magnesium alloy for both particulate composite or micro-laminated composite processing. The interphase kinetic established through localized micro plasticity, metal flow, LMD and delocalized Al oxide and Mg oxide. The morphology of interphase is cached with interesting structures that need more studies.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114746210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Detailed design approach validated by full wave simulation and experimental results is introduced to confirm the performance of reported antenna. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has an ultra-wideband antenna with good matching properties, omnidirectional pattern, and high radiation efficiency over the entire band. The antenna has a matched bandwidth of better than 123% bandwidth with radiation efficiency better than 94%. The worst reflection coefficient is only -9 dB over only 5% bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":149484,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131768166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
