We performed thermal conductivity k measurements with lateral resolution of about 100 nm. The first application concerns NiTi shape memory alloys microstructured by focused ion beam implantation. Local martensite to austenite structural phase transition has been identified upon heating the sample from room temperature to 100°C The 3w signal changes were -1.95% in amplitude and 0.6° in phase, corresponding to thermal conductivity k increase of 3.5%. The second application consists of static measurement of local k on points situated on flat faces of bare diamond crystallites 300 μm in diameter, and on crystallites coated with Cr, Cu and Cu/Cr layers with thickness in the range 0.5-30 μm. The high k advantage of bare crystallites is lost upon coating the particles, but the thermal barrier depends also on the specific configuration when the particles are in contact to one another in materials obtained from such powders.","PeriodicalId":14838,"journal":{"name":"Journal De Physique Iv","volume":"88 1","pages":"265-271"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90575778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modified materials were obtained by the direct introduction of silver to the synthesis mixture or by impregnation of the obtained oxides. The structure of the oxides was investigated by the FT-IR and FT-IR/PAS methods. It was found that the presence of silver in the synthesis conditions of manganese oxides caused partial replacement of potassium from the channels and distortion of the cryptomelane structure. In the impregnating samples silver was located on the outer surface of the oxides grains. FT-IR and FT-IR/PAS studies revealed different nature of bulk and surface interactions in the samples.","PeriodicalId":14838,"journal":{"name":"Journal De Physique Iv","volume":"19 1","pages":"283-286"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86036027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the framework of the study of a new concept for the disposal of high level wastes, a project of a supercontainer has been considered and studied. The main goal of this study was to estimate the Thermo-Hydrological behaviour of the concrete buffer in service life. Water (liquid and vapour) and heat transfers were described through coupled differential equations by the means of the procedure THYDR developed at the Department of Physico-Chemistry of the French Commission for Atomic Energy (CEA/DPC) and implemented in the code CAST3M. Two different configurations for the concrete buffer were investigated: concrete cured with no water loss or partially dried. The simulations allowed the estimation of the evolution of both vapour pressure and liquid saturation.","PeriodicalId":14838,"journal":{"name":"Journal De Physique Iv","volume":"182 1","pages":"167-175"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83022317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basing on the phase speed of ultrasound values (measured by the pulse-echo-overlap method at 2.18 MHz) and densities, the excess values of the molar volume and isentropic compressibility (volume-specific and molar), were calculated. Their composition dependencies were expressed by Redlich-Kister polynomials. It turned out that mixing of 1,3-butanediol with 1-pentanol, results in an enhanced rigidity of the mixtures in comparison with that of the pure components. What is more, this rigidity increases with increasing temperature. At the same time the volume effects (expansion) upon mixing increase with increasing temperature too. The results are discussed in terms of the variations of the structure and molecular interactions.","PeriodicalId":14838,"journal":{"name":"Journal De Physique Iv","volume":"14 1","pages":"237-241"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87779180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of them were based on natural penetration of chlorides, whose main disadvantage is that it is very time consuming and makes necessary a long time to obtain reliable data. Other methods used are the potentiostatic tests that, depending on the potential applied, may also take very long. Recently, an accelerated method to determine the threshold value of corrosion of steel by application of electrical fields has been developed. In this paper, results obtained, for the same concrete, using every method are given as well as a comparison of the advantages and drawbacks of each of them.","PeriodicalId":14838,"journal":{"name":"Journal De Physique Iv","volume":"42 10","pages":"79-88"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72604688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
