The basis of the analysis were the training volume indicators and the annual sport performance. Nonparametric procedures were chosen according to the assessment of the normality of file layout. Differences between the completed volume were evaluated statistically (Z) and substantively (“r”). The nonparametric algorithm CHAID was used for the construction of the regression trees. By the trees method were selected training indicators which showed in the individual training cycles high tightness with race walking performance. The regression model in training cycles YTC 2017/2018 introduced the indicator of intense tempo endurance (walking 4:41-5:00 min.km-1), extensive aerobic endurance (walking 6:00 and more min.km-1) and the running volume indicator, Extended aerobic endurance (walking 5:41-6:00 min.km-1), extensive tempo endurance (walking 5:01-5:20 min.km-1), intense special endurance (walking 4:06-4:20 min.km-1), number of starts and regeneration have been enforced between the predictors of the walking performance in training cycles YTC 2018/2019. The analysis points to the training resources which were most involved in the improvement of the sport performance. Their exact identification will allow the rationalization of the training process in the future, coordinate the conceptual bases of sport preparation and to improve the system of shaping the top condition towards the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.","PeriodicalId":147905,"journal":{"name":"Slovak Journal of Sport Science","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130916648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study included 20 patients who had previously been affected by SARS-CoV-2 and participated in inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation. These patients were randomly divided into either a VR group or a control group. The both the VR group and the control group participated in the same rehabilitation program, which consisted of exercise capacity training on a cycle ergometer, breathing exercises, resistance and general fitness training, and relaxation. Each training component was performed once a day. The groups that participated differed based on the training settings they received on the cycle ergometer and relaxation training. The study assessed exercise tolerance (6MWT), lung function (FEV1, FVC, TLC, FEV1%VC), stress levels (PSS-10), quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF), likewise anxiety and depression symptoms (HADS). The results showed that the VR group had a statistically significant improvement in all of the functional capacity tests compared to the control group. The VR group also had a statistically significant improvement in quality of life compared to the control group. These results suggest that the inclusion of VR in rehabilitation programs may be beneficial for post-COVID-19 patients.","PeriodicalId":147905,"journal":{"name":"Slovak Journal of Sport Science","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121593359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of our article is to approach the use of EMS in sports based on available studies. EMS can be called as a training method used to obtain muscle activation through externally applied electric currents to the muscles to achieve a functional increase in sports performance by training fast motor units. Even if, based on the available study database, there are no clear conclusions regarding the effectiveness and application of EMS in the sense of sports, we can say that EMS represents one of the means by which we can influence muscle functionality, not only in terms of rehabilitation, but also as a possible way of increasing sports performance.","PeriodicalId":147905,"journal":{"name":"Slovak Journal of Sport Science","volume":"287 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122303799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a discipline that combines speed and jump in technique, that is, the speed-strength properties of competitors. Speed, agility and explosiveness are of special importance in jumpers. The main goal of the research is to determine the influence of Body height (BH) and Body weight (BW) with the best achieved results of Long jump. Material and methods: In study included 21 top male jumpers (BH=184.19±4.68cm; BW=78.86±6.81kg). Their achieved best results were analyzed. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to determine the relationship between body height and body weight and the results of long jumpers. Univariate model of regression analysis was applied and the relevant coefficients were calculated. The level of acceptance of statistical significance was set to p<0.05. Results: Simple regression analysis did not show a statistically significant effect of Body height on the results in the long jump (BH vs. Long jump R=0.183; p>0.05), while Body weight confirmed a significant inverse relationship with the results of the jump (BW vs. Long jump R= - 0.442; p<0.05). Conclusion: Long jumpers contain a large percentage of active muscle mass that integrates and generates motor explosive abilities for the success of long jumpers, primarily strength and speed, which is confirmed by the results of the study. However, a good jump technique is also necessary, but with optimal body weight, because any increase in weight has a negative effect on the length of the long jump.","PeriodicalId":147905,"journal":{"name":"Slovak Journal of Sport Science","volume":"28 Pt 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128173153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is considered to be the leading cause of global disability. It is the most frequent cause of activity limitation that can, eventually, result in disability, decreased quality of life, and work absenteeism. Low back pain manifests in different forms - acute, subacute and chronic. Within clinical examination it is a collected anamnesis, a general examination and functional testing from each patient. The importance of physical activity in the treatment of low back pain is generally accepted. However, an increase in physical activity has been suggested to be both a preventive factor and a possible risk factor for low back pain. There is an evidence for an association between high physical workloads and back injury. Treatment of low back pain includes many different types of exercises and physical therapy. Fascial manipulations has showed a great effectiveness in the treatment of low back pain in the general population, but also among the athletes.","PeriodicalId":147905,"journal":{"name":"Slovak Journal of Sport Science","volume":"333 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122846775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data suggests that 43.3% of powerlifters experience pain in the course of their workout session. However, little is known with regards to the use of interventions including neurodynamic mobilization and foam rolling for improving the experience of pain among powerlifters. Five female and nine male powerlifters (M age27.14, SD=2.48), with no musculoskeletal injuries in the past 6 months were tested into two groups: 1) foam rolling group (FRG; n=7) and, 2) neurodynamic mobilization group (NMG; n=7). Interventions lasted a total of four weeks for both FRG and NMG. Relative to the subjects in FRG, subjects in NMG reported less pain following the completion of interventions. Regular foam rolling tends to reduce the intensity of moderate pain. However, in contrast to foam rolling, neurodynamic mobilization results in significantly less perception of pain.","PeriodicalId":147905,"journal":{"name":"Slovak Journal of Sport Science","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132763151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study defines a sports-recreational program based on athletic throwing exercises. The reduced amount of muscle mass that comes with age and thus the deficit of strength, coordination and balance cause difficulty in movement and the inability to perform harmonious movements. The decline in motor skills that comes at the time of involution can be quite slowed down through recreational programs that target these abilities. Considering that sports recreation is in question, the intensity and scope of action is logically significantly less than competitive training. In addition to the basic disciplines of shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and hammer throw, the recreational program also used a large number of exercises that throwers use in their training as ancillary exercises as well as exercises with free weights. The aim of this paper is to emphasize the importance of recreational exercise and health and the wider sports and recreational content of athletic throwing.","PeriodicalId":147905,"journal":{"name":"Slovak Journal of Sport Science","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123700372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
