By this improved microstripline resonator method, the surface impedance can be measured without attaching any contacts to the film. This paper reports the accurate and reproducible measurement process of surface impedance using the probe-coupling type microstripline resonator. The surface impedance of a YBCO thin film was measured using this technique. The measured results revealed that this technique may be used for the accurate measurement of surface impedance.","PeriodicalId":145588,"journal":{"name":"1999 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference. In this paper, to design a direct sequence-spread spectrum (DS-SS) system to be effective and flexible to operate under ISM interference environments, the DS-SS system which employs an adaptive multicode transmission scheme is introduced. Based on computer simulation, the bit error rate and the throughput performances of the adaptive multicode DS-SS system are studied. Simulation results illustrate that the DS-SS system with the adaptive multicode transmission achieves good performance even operating under ISM interference environments.","PeriodicalId":145588,"journal":{"name":"1999 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference. The antenna design is based on a recently developed uniplanar quasi-Yagi. The antenna measures VSWR<2 and AR<3 dB in the frequency range from 3.40 to 6.34 GHz (60.4%). The bandwidth is more than twice that of the best planar CP antenna to our knowledge. The measured dual-linear pattern at 5 GHz shows that the antenna has excellent CP performance, with its AR below 6 dB over a wide range of scan angles (/spl plusmn/80/spl deg/) from the mainbeam direction.","PeriodicalId":145588,"journal":{"name":"1999 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference. This layout is designed for rather big and very big buildings based on frequency reuse technique for each floor by considering vertical and horizontal wave propagation. Cell stations were installed for modeling at the Telecommunication Building, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang. By virtue of computer technology and employing propagation loss factors in the establishment of the equation, the measured signal levels were then compared with theoretical signal levels. The outcome of the verification was satisfactory. The results will be used as a guideline in designing indoor cell stations layout to improve the quality of performance of the PCT system.","PeriodicalId":145588,"journal":{"name":"1999 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference. One is a novel configuration composed of four E-plane waveguides radially coupled to a circular cavity. The other is a modified rat-race circuit consisting of a coaxial cavity and four E-plane waveguides with an impedance transformer. As a result of optimizing the circuit structure and dimensions, a desirable hybrid performance is realized for both types.
