This is particularly manifest as the classical formulation of this doctrine is confronted with the outcomes of contemporary science concerning the evolutionary scenarios of the origin and the development of the human species. The aim of the inquiry presented in this paper is to clearly present and discuss the main challenges that these scenarios present to the classical doctrine on original sin and how the different aspects are addressed and resolved within the novel interpretations, which shift their focus from the literal historical reading of original sin to treating is as a metaphor for the fundamental condition of human nature. The inquiry is additionally supported by the basic outcomes of the contemporary exegesis of the Book of Genesis, as well as a survey of some basic methodological issues pertaining to the nature of theological language. Finally, an extension to an existing interpretation of original sin is proposed, aimed at improving the consistency of its understanding with the evolutionary (dynamic) picture of the Universe.","PeriodicalId":145380,"journal":{"name":"Studia Teologii Dogmatycznej","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131260857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The former refers to long-term processes, often accidental, that introduce changes in the organisms of creatures. The Christian vision of creation sees its origins in an act of God. The problem with the acceptance of the theory of evolution is the alleged conflict between reason and faith. The article is divided into four main parts in which the Darwinian concept of evolution is presented and the problem of God’s omnipotence in the context of Darwin’s theory and the relationship between theology and the Magisterium and the Darwinian vision of creation are discussed. The conclusion emphasized the necessity of cooperation between the order of faith and the order of reason, which strive to know the truth, of which there is only one.","PeriodicalId":145380,"journal":{"name":"Studia Teologii Dogmatycznej","volume":"170 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133633912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study considers the synthesis of Yves Congar’s important reflections in his book of 1950: True and False reform in the Church. The search of the French theologian refers to the analysis and finding the reasons for the division caused in the Church in the West by Martin Luther in the 16th century. We see behind Congar’s intuition that there is a risk of division in the prophetic quest to reform the Church. Only true reform in the Church can avoid it. However, an authentic reform must always be embedded in the right conditions of discernment. The issues raised by the eminent French theologian are important in terms of the dynamic pentecostalisation of Christianity, but also in the proper interpretation of the pastoral renewal directed by the current Pope Francis. The tools for discerning the authenticity of reform in the Church are still unchanged. Despite the 70 years that have passed since the publication of the book by Congar analysed here, his indicated conditions for assessing the authenticity of Church renewal are still valid.","PeriodicalId":145380,"journal":{"name":"Studia Teologii Dogmatycznej","volume":"45 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116388076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The human condition (suffering, death, and a universal tendency toward sin) is accounted for by the story of the fall of Adam and Eve in the early chapters of the book of Genesis. Before that first sin man was in harmony with God, with himself, and with all creation. His state was characterized by primal innocence. Happiness of man in paradise is described through images: garden of Eden, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and nudity without shame. Conditions of life in paradise were unusually favourable. This resulted from the kindness of the Creator towards man. Man also had duties in paradise. They were contained in God’s commandment (Gen 2,16-17). Disobedience to this commandment caused the whole of human history to be marked by the original sin freely committed by our first parents. The tale unfolds in Gen 2,4b – 3,24. The apparent naivete of the style of myth disguises the richness of theological reflection from which theologians constantly draw. The inspired author describes here God’s relations with men not in abstract theological jargon, but in simple vocabulary and pictures.","PeriodicalId":145380,"journal":{"name":"Studia Teologii Dogmatycznej","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117012920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reflections bring us closer to the teaching on the Holy Spirit by Leo XIII (1810-1903), St. Pius X (1835-1914), Benedict XV (1854-1922). These popes ushered in a „new era“ of the Holy Spirit. Their successors: Pius XI (1857-1939), Pius XII (1876-1958), St. John XXIII (1881-1963) were described as heralds of a “new Pentecost”. Such a formula is extremely interesting, if only because of at least two a priori assumptions, namely that something like a “new Pentecost” does exist and that the popes mentioned were its heralds two a priori assumptions, namely that something like a “new Pentecost” does exist and that the popes mentioned were its, whatever it was, heralds. This study focused only on some of the aforementioned aspects.","PeriodicalId":145380,"journal":{"name":"Studia Teologii Dogmatycznej","volume":"356 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125642380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
