Here, a sensitive and easily operated colorimetric methods based on aptasensor for the detection of adenosine has been developed. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) will aggregate in high-salt solutions, which causes color change, and single-stranded DNA will prevent this from happening. Based on changes in solution color, adenosine can be quantitatively determined. Besides a home-made bionic electronic-eye (E-eye) system was developed as a portable insitu detection platform. Two different aptamers were used for comparison for adenosine detection. The linear correlation existed between 5.0–60.0μM with a detection limit of 0.17μM in water with modified aptamer. Moreover, the performance of the method was validated by testing the artificial urine samples with the linear range from 5.0 to 50.0μM and a detection limit of 0.48μM in artificial urine. This simple and cost-effective approach indicating its great potential for point-of-care applications.","PeriodicalId":145116,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115216826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective was to check if the palliative and precautionary measurements taken by the authorities were working effectively, removing the elevated values of phenol that were detected in a wide area of the municipality of Coria del Río (Spain). To this end, a gas distribution map of the affected neighborhoods was built with a portable electronic nose taking into consideration the likely presence of other volatile chemicals in the area. For the latter, we trained a volatile chemical classifier with a dataset of typical urban smells that we wanted to remove from the results (e.g. traffic emissions, garbage, fresh-air), as well as with a specific air-born phenol dataset. Results demonstrated that the palliative measures were in general satisfactory, but some hot-spots were located where the intensity of phenol-like smell was still higher than desired. Advice was given to the local authorities to double-check these locations with analytical gas-monitoring equipment.","PeriodicalId":145116,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116034498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To encourage more researchers to start R&Ds on this subject, useful peripheral tools and sensor devices should be available. For this purpose, piezoresistive Membrane-type Surface-stress Sensors (MSS) and a dedicated signal readout module to examine self-prepared chips in an experimental electronic nose system have been developed. These are expected to allow for the researchers to save time on the setup and to concentrate on the pure material explorations instead.","PeriodicalId":145116,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128479818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional methods are costly and time consuming since they require sophisticated instruments and professional operation. Thus simple and on-site detection of mercury (II) ions (Hg2+) is extremely expected. In this study, we constructed a one-step lateral flow strip that can selectively detect Hg2+ in solution based on the thymine-Hg2+-thymidine (T-Hg2+-T) mismatch principle. Detect probe (poly T20) were designed to bind to compete probe (poly A20) which can compete with Hg2+ to bind detect probe, leading to the color change on the test line. Moreover, a home-made bionic E-eye system was developed as a portable in-situ detection platform to efficiently measure the Hg2+ in 10 minutes by direct photographing. Under optimized experimental conditions, the developed lateral flow strip had a detection limit of 2 ppb and could detect up to 400ppb.","PeriodicalId":145116,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129303459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, multiple UAVs detected the CO2 concentration values of each detection point measured in their respective detection areas. After interpolation processing, the CO2 concentration values were imported into Fluent and Matlab to draw a plurality of plane density sub-maps. For the unmeasured blank areas among the adjacent sub-maps, the image repair algorithm based on Clustered Directed Diffusion (CDD) model was used to repairing the sub-maps. Then the sub-maps are fused into a complete gas concentration map. The simulation results and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR) show that the image repair algorithm based on CDD model can obtain satisfactory results for the regions with little change in concentration and a narrower blank area. The image repair algorithm based on CDD model can be used to repairing gas concentration maps to some extent.","PeriodicalId":145116,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132221102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the EtOH sniff-cam, a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-dependent alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) was used. When applying gaseous EtOH to an ADH-immobilized mesh with NAD+ solution, NADH was produced through an ADH-mediated reaction. NADH emits fluorescence at wavelength of 490 nm by UV excitation at 340 nm; thus concentration distribution of EtOH was visualized by measuring the distribution of fluorescence light intensity from NADH on the ADH-immobilized mesh surface. The dynamic range of EtOH sniff-cam was 0.1–1000 ppm. Besides, rounded fluorescence gradient centered in the gas outlet was observed. Results suggested that the EtOH sniff-cam could be applied to investigate the spatiotemporal change of EtOH emanated from the skin.","PeriodicalId":145116,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Symposium on Olfaction and Electronic Nose (ISOEN)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133867342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
