The importance of the studentification for the functional transformation of urban space was emphasized. A technique developed by the Swiss psychologist M. Lusher was used to research the color perception of urban space. An electronic poll of 205 students was conducted, the results of which were analyzed in three age categories. The study found a low coefficient of asymmetry in the responses and determined a minimum threshold for a unique interpretation of the “color” of the area. A mental map of the color perception of Lviv was performed, which distinguishes areas dominated by the perception of the same color, the combination of two colors, the indistinct distribution, as well as the positive, negative and uncertain attitude of students towards them. Warm colors (yellow, green, red) were found to relate mainly to the areas of study, dwelling, and the most frequent location of the students, as well as to the desired places of residence. Black and gray colors dominate in the perception of industrial and transport-industrial districts of Lviv, which received negative opinions. The results of the study can be used in the process of adaptive transformation (according to student needs) of Lviv urban space and in specificating the paradigm of its development. In particular, according to the poll, a large part of Lviv has negative or uncertain attitude, thus its further functional transformation must take into account the needs of student youth. Colored association with territorial parts of the city may also be used for creation of verbal urbal images and formulation of relevant geospatial metaphors.","PeriodicalId":143656,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomichna ta Sotsialna Geografiya","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128255121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the spatial and temporal dimension, cities are always the primary targets of military interventions. The concept of urbicide as a specific violent policy against cities identifies direct or indirect destructive consequences for the physical and spatial structure of the city, urban experience, and urban identity. The article analyzes the changes in the functioning of Kherson and the everyday practices of its population aimed at surviving the occupation. It is determined that during the occupation, one of the «soft» scenarios of indirect urbicide was applied to the city with selective terror of the population and economic decline of the city. The post-occupation urbicide has all the signs of a more severe model of direct urbicide due to the constant shelling of the city, numerous damages to infrastructure, and further deterioration of the demographic structure and psycho-emotional state of the city's residents. The coexistence of citizens with the occupiers has been identified as one of the key challenges: 1) the militarization of urban space and a widespread sense of disenfranchisement with blatant human rights violations; 2) the absence of humanitarian aid deliveries, the cessation of local business, the banking system, and the introduction of the Russian ruble; 3) the elimination of access to Ukrainian communications and media, the occupation of the information space, and the transformation of urban identity; 4) the massive departure of the population from the occupied city. The study summarizes the strategies of the population's response to the challenges of wartime and the occupation regime. Under the influence of the restrictions of the military occupation regime, the city's population has actualized and developed specific security, adaptation, altruistic, communication and infrastructure everyday practices. In the active phase of hostilities during russia's current large-scale military intervention, this transformation of everyday practices has become the basis for mechanisms of survival, moral and civil resistance.","PeriodicalId":143656,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomichna ta Sotsialna Geografiya","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133131676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The city and its suburbia constitute an arena of diverse and conflicting social processes. Their social differentiation is manifested, first of all, in housing segregation and diversity of various types and forms of life activity. Social interactions and relationships between individuals and social groups take place in the social space of the city and the suburbia. Their behavioural practices lie at the intersection of economic, social, cultural, environmental, and urban planning domains of urban functioning and manifest themselves in everyday practices. The concepts addressing the research of everyday practices were designed and tested in the fields of sociology, history, and economy. The goal of this article is to develop a methodology for the study of local trends of changing everyday practices in suburban spaces of cities with different functions on the bases of human geography and urban science. The authors propose to study everyday social practices using actor-network theory, making possible to consider the variability of everyday practices of suburban residents as a network of interaction between actors (people, non-people, and ideas) that create, act and change. The initial phase of the research involves a general analysis of the processes and paradigms of suburban development of model cities by analysing scientific literature, field trips to selected suburban areas, use of remote sensing data and local media screening. Based on this analysis, the cases (test areas) are determined. The analytical stage of the study tries to identify characteristics, factors and trends of the temporal changes in the everyday practices of the population of selected areas, focusing on the everyday practices of leisure and self-organization. This stage of the study involves comparative historical and comparative geographical analysis, mapping, in-depth interviews, as well as field observations. The ending stage aims at identification of current trends and peculiarities of changing everyday practices in ambiguous suburban spaces and developing recommendations for local governments and planning agencies.","PeriodicalId":143656,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomichna ta Sotsialna Geografiya","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114991516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the genesis, there are three types of single-family residential zone - former villages, which entered the administrative boundaries of the city in the 20th century; specially planned neighborhoods of single-family residence for different social groups of the population; small plots of single-family residence in the central part of the city in areas with a significant difference in height. The spatial transformation of Kozelnyky began in the 1860s with the construction of the railway and led to the loss of part of the agricultural land and several residential neighborhoods. Joining Lviv in 1959 radically changed the geospatial organization of Kozelnyky. Industrial construction and the construction of city roads through the village contributed to the emergence of internal barriers, which, consequently, increased social isolation within the neighborhood. In present, Kozelnyky is a buffer between the southern industrial zone and the new Sykhiv residential district. The neighborhood of Kozelnyky has stable borders, except for the south-eastern outskirts, where the construction of multi-storey buildings is the most intensive. Planning features of privatized land plots and narrow streets inhibit the penetration of urban architectural forms into rural construction. Construction compaction is mainly done by erecting annexes or new buildings on smallholdings without sharing them. The population of Kozelnyky is about 1163 people, most of them are descendants of Ukrainians deported from Poland. The transformation of the social structure is mainly due to the change of generations with minimal migration. The specific social structure, hybrid features of everyday life and sustainable attitudes of most people to preserve the existing way of life will further slow down the spatial transformation and contribute to the preservation of the rural cultural landscape of the neighborhood. The most acute problems of the neighborhood are: mostly dirt roads, lack of social facilities, in many households - centralized water supply and sewerage. Solving these problems requires significant investments and purposeful urban planning decisions that will facilitate the integration of the single-family residential zone into the urban environment. The abandoned area with technical water settlers may in the future be turned into a recreational zone for the residents of Kozelnyky district and the adjacent multi-storey buildings.","PeriodicalId":143656,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomichna ta Sotsialna Geografiya","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130560134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Leading positions in international tourism are occupied by European countries, in particular Italy. The article analyzes the current state and territorial features of tourism development in Italy, considering natural, historical and cultural tourist recourses and country hotel fund. The analysis bases on such key indicators as the tourism contribution to gross domestic product, the tourism contribution to employment, the tourism capital investments, the tourism inbound (foreign) and outbound (abroad) volume, the international tourism receipts. The geographical structure of tourist flows in Italy is considered. The country has a considerable territorial differentiation in terms of tourism development. An integral index was calculated for Italy regions to evaluate tourism development level with subsequent classification of regions according to this indicator. The calculated indices allowed delimiting of the six groups of regions with high, higher than average, medium, lower than average, low and very low tourism development levels respectively. The features of tourism development in the regions of each group are revealed. In particular, the highest intensity of tourist arrivals is observed in the alpine regions of the country, which specialize in ski tourism. The high level of tourism development is also typical for the northern and central regions of the country. The lowest intensity of tourism is observed in the south-eastern regions of the country. In general, contemporary tourist development of the country is characterized with annual growth in the number of tourist arrivals, significant revenues from the tourism industry, positive balance of tourist flows, high share of tourism in the country’s GDP, formation of world-famous centers of tourism, high tourist rates. All this indicates that Italy remains one of the tourism leaders in the international tourism market.","PeriodicalId":143656,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomichna ta Sotsialna Geografiya","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116083245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the preparation of a comprehensive spatial plan for the development of the territory of the territorial community has been introduced as a new tool for territory planning at the local level. The concept of integrated development of the territorial community recommended for development is considered as a means of forming initial data for the development of planning decisions. Its preparation involves broad public involvement in the planning process. The authors of the article became the developers of the concept of integrated development of the Sahuniv territorial community of the Cherkasy region of the Cherkasy district. The main questions that this article aims to answer are the following: what is the experience of developing such documents, what are the basic principles of their preparation, and what is the practical significance of the document. For this purpose, we analyze the approaches to understanding integrated development as a phenomenon, the content of its strategic planning at the local level, the place of the concept of integrated development of the territorial community in the planning system at the local level and its influence on local economic development. The article critically examines the essence and procedure of participatory strategic planning at the local level. Based on the case of the concept of integrated development of the Sahuniv territorial community, the logic of the planning process and the practice of preparing initial data for comprehensive planning of the territory of the territorial community are reflected. The importance of the document for the formation of stakeholder interaction, the involvement of the population in the management decision-making system through planning tools, the coordination of the development of individual components of the local development system, and the identification of territorial elements of integrated community development is reflected. Thus, the article defines the formation of the strategic planning system at the local level in Ukraine as a response to the change of the administrative-territorial structure in 2015-2020 and the deployment of the decentralization reform in Ukraine, and its role for the local economic development and the territorial community of the basic level as a whole, coordination of strategic planning processes for the development of territorial communities and territory development planning.","PeriodicalId":143656,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomichna ta Sotsialna Geografiya","volume":"86 12 Suppl 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130326916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because Zaporizhzhia is located in the north-west of the region, this, in turn, leads to problems in the management and transport-geographical accessibility of remote settlements in the region. The purpose of the study is to identify Zaporizhzhia as the center of the regional settlement system and its influence on the territory of the region. In the article, with the help of mathematical formulas and data of the Main Directorate of Statistics, the field of demographic influence of Zaporizhzhia, the population concentration index and the potential of the settlement area of the region are calculated, the actual center of resettlement of the Zaporizhzhia regional settlement system is determined. Zaporizhzhia, as a large industrial city and an administrative center of the region, concentrates a large part of its population in suburban areas around it, therefore the study also substantiates and determines the formation of the Zaporizhzhia agglomeration. Consequently, as a result of the study, it was determined that the center of settlement of the Zaporizhzhia regional settlement system is near Stepnohirsk, and tends more to a geographical center than an administrative one. However, 43.2% of the region’s population is concentrated in Zaporizhzhia. It is characterized by the largest field of demographic impact and the potential of the settlement area in the Zaporizhzhia regional settlement system, which in turn shows the unevenness of the population of the region and the concentration of population in the regional center and its surroundings. Zaporizhzhia together with surrounding settlements forms Zaporizhzhia monocentric agglomeration. It consists of: 4 cities (Vilnyansk, Orikhiv, Vasylivka, Dniproprudne), 6 urban-type settlements (Balabyne, Kushuhum, Malokaterynivka, Stepnohirsk, Komyshuvakha, Kamiane) and more than 10 rural settlements. This agglomeration can be considered as developed. Thus, we can conclude that Zaporizhzhia is the center of a regional settlement system. However, its remoteness from the geographical center causes certain inconveniences and disproportion in the resettlement of the region.","PeriodicalId":143656,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomichna ta Sotsialna Geografiya","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127426009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
