With the incorporation of harmonic nesting and array interpolation, a nearly constant mainlobe response is achieved over the design band with compact array size, smaller number of sensors and improved array directivity. The robust interpolation matrices design problem can be converted to the efficient form of second-order cone programming (SOCP) and be solved with the interior point method. An interpolation-based WCBB is implemented in frequency domain with frequency bin dependent weighting of the elements. Previous works tend to generalize iconic communication by translating iconic sentences into XML documents. Theses approaches are limited owing to the fact that an icon can hide several metaphors. In fact, the semantics of an icon is not the linguistic equivalent associated to the image, but is a set of attributes which can be used to describe the given icon. Second, an XML schema is not a knowledge representation, but just a message format. Therefore, to manage the knowledge hidden behind iconic sentences, a semantic model for icons needs to be formally defined. This paper extends previous icon models by first, introducing a description logics-based definition of icons semantics, and second, based on those formal definitions and the Web Ontology Language (OWL), we create an Ontology for Icons named IcOnto (read “eye can too”). A popular strategy of localization is to use the measured time differences of arrival (TDOA) of the source signal at multiple pairs of sensors. In the literature, most of these algorithms assume that the perceived propagation velocity is constant. However, in dessipative and dispersive media, such as concrete, the measured propagation velocity of an impulsive perturbation depends highly on the source position. Traditional algorithms based on TDOA and velocity estimation cannot so be used for footstep localization using elastic waves. In this paper, we propose a new localization algorithm adapted to provide good localization results in dissipative and dispersive medium using only the sign of the measured TDOAs and that does not need the estimation of the propagation velocity. This paper describes a text independent language recognition system using new features derived from MFCC feature of speech signal with a common code book and discrete hidden Markov models (DHMM) to achieve a very good LID recognition performance with less computation time comparing with that of a state of art phone based systems available in literature. In this work, MFCC feature vectors of speech signal are transformed into new feature vectors. This LID approach includes generation of a common codebook using new features and training of DHMM, one for each language. However, high imaging dose is harmful to healthy organs. In this paper, a local Reconstruction method based on wavelet and Radon domain inpainting is proposed to recover a small region of interest (ROI) inside a large object only using the Local-Limited-Angle projections. Our method is motivated by the localization in time-frequency domain of wavelet transform and the minimization of the image total variation (TV). The proposed model enhances the resolution of the CT image with filling wavelet coefficients in the Radon domain. Then the expectation evidence is obtained through the analysis of the importance of evidence. Finally the D-S evidence theory is used to fusion expect evidence aiming to get recognition result. Nonetheless, an effective solution is still a serious challenge. In this paper, we propose an new Active Shape Model (ASM) based approach for recognition of Arabic handwritten text. Character candidate representations are generated using chamfer distance transforms, and optimal parameters for ASMs are calculated. Furthermore, a performance comparison among three different optimization techniques, is presented. For experiments, we used 28046 letter samples from different writers. Two third to build the ASMs and one third for testing. The proposed method has robustness to geometric distortions such as shift, rotation, scaling, skew, projection and their combinations. The feature of texture pattern and color is extracted as co-occurrence matrix of PSs of multiple component planes that can be robust to geometric distortion. To realize efficient calculation, binary pattern of RGB components are combined with grey level luminance component to obtain feature vector. In simulations, performance of the proposed method is analyzed under various distortion conditions with similar image retrieval system. Effectiveness is verified by evaluating retrieval accuracy rates. On basis of introducing the scattering mechanism of return signals from aircraft targets in conventional radars, the paper analyzed the multifractal characteristics of return signals from aircraft targets, defined several characteristic parameters for multifractal spectrum curves, and discussed their identification mechanism for different types of aircraft targets.
