Tsvetkova","doi":"10.1109/OMEE.2014.6912385","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/OMEE.2014.6912385","url":null,"abstract":"Eu<sup>3+</sup> activated Ca<sub>3</sub>Ga<sub>2</sub>Ge<sub>3</sub>O<sub>12</sub> ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction, and characterized with XRD, UV-VIS and UV-VUV spectroscopy at temperature range 10-300K. Structural analysis revealed only garnet phase. The results have shown that Eu<sup>3+</sup> activated Ca<sub>3</sub>Ga<sub>2</sub>Ge<sub>3</sub>O<sub>12</sub> exhibit efficient red emitting due to the <sup>5</sup>D<sub>0</sub> → <sup>7</sup>F<sub>1,2,4</sub> transitions under 393 nm (<sup>7</sup>F<sub>0</sub> → <sup>5</sup>L<sub>6</sub> transition of Eu<sup>3+</sup>) or 250 nm (the broad O<sup>2-</sup>→Eu<sup>3+</sup> charge transfer band) excitations. Formation of Nasicon-related crystalline samples was caused by the annealing at 600 °C. The cell parameters calculation showed that its evolution along two series agrees with the substitution of Na<sup>+</sup> by smaller Li<sup>+</sup> and bigger K<sup>+</sup> cations. Teslyuk","doi":"10.1109/OMEE.2014.6912379","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/OMEE.2014.6912379","url":null,"abstract":"The high optical quality glasses with Li<sub>2</sub>B<sub>4</sub>O<sub>7</sub>:Eu, CaB<sub>4</sub>O<sub>7</sub>:Eu, and LiCaBO<sub>3</sub>:Eu compositions containing 0.5 and 1.0 mol. % Eu<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> have been obtained by standard glass technology. Using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical spectroscopy it was shown that the Eu impurity is incorporated into the Li<sub>2</sub>B<sub>4</sub>O<sub>7</sub>, CaB<sub>4</sub>O<sub>7</sub>, and LiCaBO<sub>3</sub> glasses network as Eu<sup>3+</sup> (4f<sup>6</sup>, <sup>7</sup>F<sub>0</sub>) ions, exclusively. All observed f - f transitions of the Eu<sup>3+</sup> centres in optical absorption, luminescence excitation and emission spectra were identified. It was found high sensitivity of the photoinduced refractive index variation to the substitution of the Lu atoms by Gd as well as the admixture of Ce to the LSO/LGSO crystalline matrix.
