This study aimed to identify the determinants of daily exercises among overweight or obese employees using the Health Belief Model (HBM) in 2017. For the purpose of the study, 101 employees working in healthcare facilities affiliated with Ilam University of Medical Sciences were included after presenting a written consent form. The tool to collect data was a self-made questionnaire, which was applied after reviewing and approving its validity and reliability. The results showed that the mean of daily exercises among participants was 8.22±1.19 min. Statistical tests showed that there was a significant relationship between gender and the amount of daily exercises so that the mean exercises of men was higher than that of women. Accordingly, self-efficacy was determined as the strongest predictor of daily exercises based on multiple linear regression tests. At the end of the study, the researchers concluded that amount of daily exercises among the participants of this study was low while overweight and obesity would increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases; therefore, applying appropriate interventions, based on HBM in particular, can be effective in reducing the risk of obesity.","PeriodicalId":14122,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research and Health Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91084999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Non-pharmacological interventions are considered as a better choice for treatment of sleep problems in older adults. The aim of the present study was to examine the effects of aromatherapy with lavender essential oil on sleep quality in older adults. This single-blind randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted on 100 retired older adults. Participants were divided into two groups using simple random sampling. The intervention group received 2 drops of lavender essential oil and the control group received 2 drops of placebo in a glass of water, during bedtime, for 7 nights. All participants filled out the Pittsburgh sleep quality index before and after the intervention. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of socio-demographic characteristics and sleep quality score before intervention. A significant difference in sleep quality was observed in the group receiving lavender essential oil compared to the control group 7 nights after intervention. Lavender essential oil has a positive effect on improving older adults’ sleep quality.","PeriodicalId":14122,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research and Health Sciences","volume":"41 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90871354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given the incidence and prevalence of this phenomenon in Iran and the importance of household health expenditures, this study was done to evaluate the impact of children’s entry into labor market on household health expenditures. This study was conducted on urban households living in all provinces in Iran in 2016. The sample size was estimated 6517 households. The statistics of these households were extracted from the raw data of income-cost of urban households. The probit and ordered probit econometric models were also used to estimate the coefficients of the model. The results showed that the entry of children into labor markets in both models had a positive impact on household health expenditures. Therefore, making policies for eliminating child labor, compensating the income they got from working, and providing the possibility of further education for these children were of utmost importance. Household income per capita, family size, father’s age, and parental education had also a positive and significant effect on household health expenditures. Moreover, parental employment in private sector could increase household health expenditure, but such costs could be decreased if parents were employed in public sector.","PeriodicalId":14122,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research and Health Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83329694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The World Health Organization (WHO) mentions the age of 60 as the starting point for aging, and it has also been shown that aging has the highest development rate, particularly in developing nations, according to worldwide stats among distinct age groups. Due to the improvement of health science, the population of elderly has been increasing. the WHO mentions 60 years old as the starting point for aging, also it has been shown that according to global statistics among different age groups, aging has the fastest growth rate, especially in developing countries. Accordingly, approximately two-thirds of the world's elderly population live in developing nations and is estimated to achieve 80% by 2050 [1] At present, the elderly make up 9% of the Iranian population (7.4 million). The Iranian elderly population is projected to reach 26 million or 26% of the total population by 2050. Considering the rise in the elderly, one of the factors regarded by health practitioners is the mental health status of the elderly. Elderly individuals are more vulnerable to mental health issues in the form of anxiety and depression owing to elevated age and physical and mental disabilities. Psychiatric disorders are therefore commonly present after a physical illness. The purpose of this study was to investigate the process of acceptance of illness in patients with incurable diseases. The conceptual research framework was based on Kübler-Ross's theory of acceptance of illness. In this qualitative research, a guided approach to content analysis has been used. This study was carried out using semi structured interviews based on theoretical saturation with 15 patients with incurable diseases. The results of this study have shown that patients with incurable diseases have passed seven stages of death acceptance: shock disease, coping strategies, disease denial, anger, depression, referral group reactions, and acceptance of illness. Considering the need to recognize the process of accepting the disease in patients with incurable disease, the results of this study may be useful for those patients involved in treating the disease correctly. Furthermore, the results of this study can be used by researchers, managers, and planners to enhance their knowledge of incurable patient needs and evidence-based planning.","PeriodicalId":14122,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research and Health Sciences","volume":"100 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88823152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of awareness and observation of patients’ rights and the factors affecting it from the perspective of the patients and nurses among all hospitalized patients and the nurses working at Bohlool hospital in Gonabad city. 100 patients and 100 nurses were selected as the statistical sample. Data were collected using the patients' rights questionnaire of bokai. The priority of the patients’ rights were as the followings: respect to patient privacy and secrecy principle (96% Moderate and Good), receiving desirable health services (92% Moderate and Good), access to an efficient complaints system (90% Moderate and Good), patient’s access to appropriate and adequate information (91% Moderate and Good), and the right to making choice and decision freely for the patients (76% Moderate and Good) in receiving hospital services, respectively. Also, there was a relationship between the level of awareness and observance of patients rights with demographic variables among the nurses. The results of the research showed that the lack of the patients’ awareness from their health and treatment rights and the enforcement lack of patients’ rights charter by the health and medical personnel can endanger health, life and safety of the patients. Therefore, the awareness and observance of these rights seemed necessary.","PeriodicalId":14122,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research and Health Sciences","volume":"60 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88229049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Either way, IT systems that run can yield good and bad results. IT affects the environment, individuals and society as a whole. The way we use IT determines if its impacts are positive to society or negative. For example, we can make the most of our Internet smartphones and web to develop our societies, make them new and modern. Internet-based computers have changed the way people relate and make their living environment better, organize their work, their communities and their time and place faster, easier and cheaper than yesterday.
