This in turn calls for enterprise applications that are based on open standards, simple to implement, and easy to modify and upgrade. In response to these structural changes in the market and customer demands, and facing fierce competition in a saturated market, SAP had to rethink its strategic position. This case discusses how SAP transformed itself by turning its proprietary software products to an open development and integration platform so that customers could modify them to suit their specific needs. The implications of this new strategy for software industry as a whole are discussed.","PeriodicalId":140908,"journal":{"name":"Eighth World Congress on the Management of eBusiness (WCMeB 2007)","volume":"258 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129090688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes an innovative process that was used to reach agreement on terminology to be used in the research program. Initially, there was little agreement on the use of the terms \"identity theft\" or \"identity fraud\" amongst the diverse group of stakeholders involved in the research. We adopted an approach based on the practice of terminology. This approach required the development of a conceptual model of the problem domain that did not use the contested terms. The terms were then defined within the context of this model. This process has brought a common understanding of the problem domain to the various stakeholders and should promote consistent use of the terms in both our research and in communications with the general public.","PeriodicalId":140908,"journal":{"name":"Eighth World Congress on the Management of eBusiness (WCMeB 2007)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125420452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study attempts to fill in this gap by proposing a comprehensive theoretical framework and comparing antecedents' prediction of intention and usage behavior in the same framework. The theoretical framework incorporates rational factors such as cognitive, affective, judgmental components as well as an automatic factor like habit into the research model. Based on the same framework, usage behavior and continuance intention model are developed and compared in the context of mobile Internet services. Through comparison of two models, the comprehensive framework is proposed to be more suitable in predicting usage behavior than continuance intention. By identifying the different influences of determinants which drive usage behavior and continuance intention, the results of this study have thus helped advance IS theory and offered insights for mobile Internet services practitioners.","PeriodicalId":140908,"journal":{"name":"Eighth World Congress on the Management of eBusiness (WCMeB 2007)","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126962880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, no published survey focuses exclusively on examining employees' perception of dependability with e-business (EDEB). This paper presents such an instrument and reports on a pilot study based on a survey of 152 employees practicing in six international semiconductor manufacturing companies in the Hsin-Chu Science-based Industrial Park in Taiwan. After a deep exploration for the conceptualization and operationalization of employees' perception of dependability with e-business construct, procedures used in generating and purifying the employee dependability with e-business (i.e., EDEB) scale are described. The results suggest a 22-item instrument that measures six dimensions of employee dependability with e-business - information quality, system quality, usefulness, ease of use, reliability, and assurance. Evidence of the instrument's factor structure, reliability, and validity are examined next. Finally, this paper concludes a discussion of potential applications of this instrument for achieving more precision in e-business success.","PeriodicalId":140908,"journal":{"name":"Eighth World Congress on the Management of eBusiness (WCMeB 2007)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132593617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, as most literature studies business models as snapshots in time, it is ill-understood how changing market, technology and regulation conditions generally drive revisions in business models. This paper studies which type of external drivers are strongest in forcing business models to change throughout their life cycle. To do so, we survey 45 longitudinal case descriptions on business model dynamics of (networks of) organizations in various industries. According to our results, technology and market forces are most important drivers of business model dynamics, while regulation plays only a minor role. Especially for startups, the effect of technology and market drivers is strongest during the early stages of a new business model, while for established, large companies the effects are moderate over time.","PeriodicalId":140908,"journal":{"name":"Eighth World Congress on the Management of eBusiness (WCMeB 2007)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133463552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous research has shown that structured design methods are useful to structure the design process. In this paper we proceed from an existing method (which identifies multi-channel customer needs and functional requirements) based on QFD (quality function deployment). We create a method to be used by teams for specifying detailed navigation structures and web page design. The output is a prototype that can be used in further design tasks. The method was validated in projects with three companies. Participants evaluated our method based on five design support requirements. The combination of speed, customer orientation, and involvement of relevant stakeholders, as well as the visualization of multi-channel and technical issues in an e-service prototype, are considered to be valuable contributions to the design (process).","PeriodicalId":140908,"journal":{"name":"Eighth World Congress on the Management of eBusiness (WCMeB 2007)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125951219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
