Final Project: Textile Craft Study Program, Faculty of Arts and Design, Sebelas Maret University. “Designing backdrop for wedding using the macrame technique” aims to explore the makame knots made into wedding decorations. The design results into an innovative product and has product differentiation. The realization of the product can add to the visual wealth of macrames that function aswedding decorations. The result of the design is a backdrop for wedding made with macrame techniques by taking the idea of the shape of flora sirih gading leaves and lotus flowers, the form of fauna butterflies, kawung motifs, wjikan, ukel/besusulan, tumpal/sorot and tassels. Backdrop consists of 3 parts, the main part is in themiddle, the complement is on the left and right. Laying the backdrop on a wooden frame inspired by the basic shape of the house. The art of wayang godhong performance is one of the mediums of expression about the traditions and lives of tobacco farmers in treading their lives. Wayang godhong is expected to be asustainable art and can also be included as contemporary art that combines tradition and contemporary art. Wayang godhong is indeed a unique and interesting work of art that combines performances and works of art that are embodied in the figures of the puppet forms. The works of art that are displayed become a puppet. Wayang godhong already has a lot of fans, besides that wayang godhong can also be used as an effective communication medium other than as a medium of education, especially knowledge of art and culture. These various interpretations produce a lot of style and one of them is Surakarta style.The interpretation of Surakarta style can be observed by the dancer’s costume which have the uniquecharacteristic adapted by local tradition.The goal of this research is to make a deep and detail data in the using of mahabarata’s dancer costume in Surakarta style. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The subjects of the research are Mahabarata’s human puppet show in Sriwedari, Indonesian Institute of The Arts (ISI) Surakarta, and Taman Budaya Jawa Tengah (TBJT) Surakarta. The steps in thisresearch are literature review, data collection and draw conclusion. The conclusion is The use of the puppet costume of the mahabarata series, Surakarta style was adjusted to the characteristics of the puppet figures and plays performed. Costume design is the result of visualization of fashion on the human puppet show.
