In this paper we point out the benefits that speech applications have and describe our future platform. Furthermore, we create domain-specific dialogues using VoiceXML. VoiceXML is a language for creating voice user interfaces. We opted for VoiceXML because it simplifies application development by permitting developers to use familiar Web techniques, tools and infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129750495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a graph-based algorithm that implements a symbolic functional decomposition of the FSMs - a method that does not pre-encode the machinepsilas states, but instead encodes them gradually during every step of the functional decomposition process (used for mapping the FSM to the FPGA circuitpsilas LUT cells). The symbolic functional decomposition method guarantees high quality of the final decomposition, with better results than the current two-step approaches.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121955737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system was designed for and implemented in a factory creating super abrasive diamond tools. In that technology, the operational parameters compliance is a very important condition for quality production and its economy. An impact of the human factor on production and its quality represents the main problem. These experiences and the technology requirements lead to a new system development. The hardware and software modules are based on the client-server model on a PC platform. This sophistically designed and developed system allows many functions for the management support. We describe a new system with its main modules, their logic, construction and system benefits for the production and quality management.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121145248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This contribution aims to contribute in solving the problem of model-based body motion estimation by using data coming from multiple visual sensors. To ensure accurate track we use the interacting multiple model (IMM) associated with the unscented Kalman filter (IMM-UKF). To resolve the problem of data association, the JPDA approach is combined with the IMM-UKF algorithm, the derived algorithm is noted JPDA-IMM-UKF. Finally the simulation results show clearly the superiority of the sequential architecture, according to the parallel one, on terms of precision and track loss ratio.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131074082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To date, there is no common standard to design this kind of games and individual solutions are usually carried out by an ad hoc process. Our approach is based on framing games as educational tools that incorporate fun and learning through motivation as the key ingredient in the learning process, and multimodal interaction as the medium for conveying educational material. Proposed solution formalizes design process describing educational games in terms of estimated effects they produce on players. Building upon research on learning and motivation theory, we are connecting these effects with player learning preferences and motivation states. Our main contribution is to suggest design issues that should be taken into account when designing educational games. We exemplify the approach through our ongoing V-Strat project, framework for designing educational games.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131511978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such systems are especially important for the elderly and disabled persons. The paper presents a vision-based system for detection of long voluntary eye blinks and interpretation of blink patterns for communication between man and machine. The blink-controlled applications developed for this system have been described, i.e. the spelling program and the eye-controlled Web browser.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131868598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article introduces two developed framework for decision units for embodied autonomous agents. The models are compared to an existing architecture, the BDI architecture. The basis of the described model is using psychoanalytical concepts. Drives, emotions and wishes are the basics that build a reaction due to an existing situation. A concept of strategy planning, using the Freudian wish has been described. Using a concept of thinking of the humans psyche that develops during childhood, the difference between thing presentations and word presentations is shown and based upon that, a possible learning strategy is elaborated.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124186154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

And besides being smart in the technology phase, a smart home should also satisfy the ldquohomerdquo feeling when interacting with its inhabitants. In this work, from the perspective of human-computer interaction, we analyze the relationship between services, spaces, and users, and then propose a framework as well as a corresponding algorithm to model their interaction, thus for a smart home to behave both smart and as a home when interacting with its inhabitants.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121160129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These rules are traditionally defined in regulations. Formalization based on three level event manufacture model and developed on this model control scheme is offered. Control scheme determines event and command stream at structure of models: technological control object, automation system, SCADA, operator. In the end formalized rules are defined by the active scenarios. Scenarios, together with hierarchical event models, allow to operate technological object directly. Method of sequent structuring, what allows to effectively define its hierarchical event models using unified rules for any hierarchy level processes, is described.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129015019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
