To analysis how the corporate performance is influenced by both internal (microeconomic) and external (macroeconomic) factors the logit micro-macro models were used. The simulations conducted show clearly that the microeconomic variables have much higher influence then macroeconomic variables on the condition of small enterprises. Macroeconomic variables have higher influence on firms, which showed values of the microeconomic indicators between the 1st and the 3rd quartile then the worst and best firms. It can be then stated that small companies with very poor results can hardly benefit from an economic prosperity in the country. On the other hand, the very good enterprises will hardly suffer from a recession in the economy.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123099214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of PROPYME project was to accomplish an innovative technology-transfer task from university industrial researchers, to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), for enhancing their productivity by the automation of their industrial and management processes. This involves a SMEpsilas effort not only by a financial point of view, but adaptation, knowledge acquisition and organizational changes. Moreover, embedding ICTpsilas involves adapting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools to integrate vertically process and systems, owned by the SME itself, facing to decision challenges based on economic value, knowledge and communication concepts. The PROPYME first phase is a portal Web with a demonstration multimedia tool, text, graphics, animations, audio and video, that shows fifteen industrial processes based on diverse technologies frequently used for industrial enterprises.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127449117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was proved that PSO algorithm has exhibited good performance across wide range application problems. This paper proposes the use of PSO algorithm for decision making model updating. The decision making model is used to generate one-step forward investment decisions for stock markets. The artificial neural networks (ANN) are used to make the analysis of historical daily stock returns and to calculate one day forward possible profit, which could be get while following the model proposed decisions, concerning the purchase of the stocks. Subsequently the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied in order to select the ldquoglobal bestrdquo ANNs for the future investment decisions and to adapt the weights of other networks towards the weights of the best network. Different from our previous works this paper presents a new variant of PSO algorithm where the clusters of particle are identified in the search space. Knowing clusters the centers of clusters are substitutes for the best particle. Also this paper introduces variation of regular PSO algorithm where decision and particle training is made based on the performance of worst particle. Experimental investigations have shown that average performance per a fixed number of iterations can be improved by substituting cluster centers for the individualpsilas best positions. Also experimental investigation on decision making using worst particle shows that better results than using regular PSO can be achieved.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125885350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the context of human-system interaction (HSI) this can mean that a system should be permitted to have an initial knowledge of empathy provision that is inaccurate or incomplete, but with this knowledge evolving and progressing over time through learning from experience. This problem has yet to be defined and dealt in HSI. This paper is an attempt to state an empathy learning problem for an ambient intelligent system to self-improve its empathic responses based on user affective states.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"31 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122987186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The participants used the system for two periods, one with pure visual and the other with auditory enhanced attention control. The investigation and findings are reported in this paper. The findings indicate that the userpsilas concentration on the main task, in terms of fewer user errors, is better and the response times to critical events in the background is shorter with auditory enhanced attention control. The usability of the system was furthermore confirmed by the participants. A traveling technique depends primarily on the tasks needed to be performed as well as the device(s) used to accomplish a given task. In this paper we examine the potential of a relatively new and inexpensive device introduced in the gaming industry that revolutionized the way 3D games are played. We developed two techniques, both utilizing the wireless Wii remote and its extension from Nintendo, and we examined the usefulness of the remote in traveling techniques in large virtual environments. Our technique allows efficient and comfortable control of multiple degrees of freedom using one hand. We performed a user study to measure the effectiveness of the device and we present our results.","PeriodicalId":139846,"journal":{"name":"2008 Conference on Human System Interactions","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129671649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
